Visiting Aulani for the first time. DK ages are (7,5, and 3). Likely only staying at Aulani as the kids are young and planning on visiting again. What is a good # of days to stay if doing a hotel only trip? Traveling from the Midwest of the Country & breaking up the trip with a quick 1-day stop at Disneyland both ways

No easy answer to this. I'd say at least 5 days.

Where are you traveling from? Jet lag can be a real issue for the first day or two.

I agree with OKW Lover: at least five days. That will give you time to settle in, get the lay of the land, and adjust to the time change. I feel like the first 48 hours I'm still getting used to things and I don't really start to relax and feel at home until the third day. That's when that true vacation feeling hits me.

That said, I'm not traveling with little kids anymore, so your experience may be different. I don't need to do a million activities: I'm looking to spend my days letting go of the stress of my busy life and home and just "being" for a while. And I can do that for a looong time.

In a perfect world, if you can swing it, I'd say go for a week.

Flying across the ocean from the Midwest? In my mind, no way under a week for a flight that long. From the west coast, with about a 5 hours flight, maybe, but for me, a I say a week or more.

Good luck on your decisions.

For us, Hawaii is a 6 hour nonstop flight and I still wouldn't want to go for under a week. You may find you want to explore the rest of the island a bit, despite their young ages. But even if not, it's such a long flight from the midwest.

Traveling from the midwest, I think at least 5 nights is a good minimum, plus the two stops.

We will be visiting for the first time in December, so I searched different forums with this same question. I found all sorts of answers. Some say they were bored after 2 days, some will say they never stay for less than 10. I guess it comes down to how many vacation days you can get from work, what other vacations you have planned throughout the next year or two, and how much you plan on using the Aulani resort facilities specifically. Lots of folks do split stays in Oahu (or Oahu+Maui, etc.), with just a couple of days in Aulani.

My family are DVC owner, so we booked 8 nights at Aulani for my family for this September. This will be our first trip to Aulani and Hawaii

We have made plan for 2-3 full resort days, but we will play it by ear. My sons are older so they may go off and explore the island on their own.

We booked one night pre and 2 nights post in Waikiki Beach. Post we are staying at the Marriott Waikiki Beach.

Our flight gets in late afternoon, so I did not want to waste a night at Aulani. I picked a nice hotel a couple blocks from the beach. We are figuring to check in have dinner somewhere and get up in the morning and head straight to Aulani.

We are figuring to check out Honolulu and Waikiki Beach on our post Aulani days.

We should have plenty of time to explore the island of Oahu and enjoy Aulani.

Coming from the midwest, we did 5 days with a stop in Disneyland before heading to Aulani. I liked breaking up the flight. I feel like the stop in California worked out great for us.
