Of course it's all about the food! 12 Days of DDP, loads of pics UPDATED 10/21!

Great review of Hacienda! I'm so glad that I ate at a Mexican restaurant for lunch today or I'd be craving it right now after reading your review. ::yes:: The corn in your dish really does look wonderful and I'm a cheese-aholic so your queso fundido looks great as well. I didn't have dessert with my lunch so perhaps I'll need to pop out and get something after looking at yours! :rotfl:

By the way, sorry to hear that your strawberry cupcake didn't have the filling! I think you may have enjoyed it more with that! :confused3

Glad to hear that you liked The Wave!!1 :upsidedow I should just try the buffet next time - as long as 26 people don't show up at once! :p

I'm really missing La Hacienda now that I've seen your review. The queso looks really good! And of course, I still have on my must do list the avocado margarita!!

Happy trip planning for 2013. A DL trip sounds very nice. If you have any questions about DL that you don't see in the CA Dis Board let me know, I may be able to help out since we are frequent visitors (at least once a week) because we live in Orange County. :goodvibes

Thank you, the corn was amazing. And I definitely would have enjoyed the cupcake more with the filling.

The avocado margarita was amazing, you'll have to give it a try next time.

And thanks very much for the offer of DL advice. I'm very jealous you visit once a week. Have you visited cars land yet? If so is it as amazing as it looks in the pictures?

Great reviews! They are helpful in helping me plan ADRs for our next trip!:thumbsup2

Wow. BÇM pizza looks great! We have stayed at BWV many times and never tried it. :confused3 Next time!! New to your reviews but I am enjoying them. Thanks!!

Thanks. The pizza was ok actually, it wasn't as good as boardwalk pizza window though.

Today we had a 12:30 ADR at Yak & Yeti. When we arrived they were taking walk ups, we were sat immediately on the ground floor near the stairs. The restaurant was very full, our server was good though busy, we weren’t rushed at all.

I had a Wild berry daiquiri to drink. This was a typical frozen drink, not too sweet, refreshing but couldn’t really taste the rum.

We skipped apps and went straight for entrees. I had the Baby back ribs, served with fried rice and coleslaw. The ribs were incredible, the meat easily fell of the bone, and the BBQ sauce was sweet with a little tang. This was too big a portion but my dad was happy to help me out with a few ribs!

The fried rice was good too, well cooked so it was fluffy rather than starchy with a decent flavour.

DH chose the maylasian seafood curry. He said this had tons of flavour, and although a big portion this was mostly due to the tice rather than an abundance of seafood. He said there was only two scallops, and one piece of fish, but plenty of mussels and clams. It wasn’t too spicy but was flavourful.

Mum had the miso salmon. This was a good sized portion for her, definitely a lighter dish than the others on the table, she said the salmon was nicely cooked and enjoyed the flavours.

My dad had steak and shrimp and ate everything on the plate. He said the steak was good again.

For dessert I chose the chocolate pudding cake. This was a big slice of cake which was very dense and rich, it needed the raspberry sauce to cut through the richness, and although I couldn’t finish it I enjoyed it.

DH had the cheesecake. He said this was fine, but I think the heat was getting to him on this day as he didn’t feel that well so it may have been better than he described, it certainly looked good.

My mum chose the cream cheese won tons which were a big hit. She really enjoyed them, my dad had a couple of pieces and he thought they were fantastic, coming from a man who doesn’t like desserts this was high praise.

We all enjoyed our lunch here, the food was hot and tasty, it was definitely less rushed than our previous experiences and it was nice to get out of the heat for an hour or so.

For dinner we were using CS credits. We decided to have a night in, with some wine and pizza. We walked to the Boardwalk and ordered a two full pizzas for 4 CS credits. Each pizza came with two drinks (we chose water) and two desserts (chocolate cake or fruit cups).

We got one pepperoni and one veggie, which tonight was spinach and roasted mushrooms. The pizzas were ready in around 10 minutes and were still hot when we got them back to the room, I did like the cute boxes too!

Both pizzas were pretty good. The veggie one probably having the most flavour, not the best pizza you’ll taste but certainly a lot better than the individual pizzas served in most CS restaurants.

The chocolate cake was a standard CS dessert, dense sponge topped with a thick chocolate ganache, they were very sweet and I think only one or two got eaten.

We all thought this was a good use of a CS credit, and a nice change of pace to have a night in.

Breakfast today was at BC Marketplace again. DH had a bagel which was fine.

I had an apple blossom, this was thick pastry, apple filling, topped with granola and caramel icing. It wasn’t too sweet as the apple was reasonably tart.

My dad had the breakfast sandwich. Scrambled egg, cheese & bacon served with potato casserole. Again he enjoyed this, and this sort of savoury, hot breakfast was right up his street.

Today was supposed to be a pool day but the weather wasn’t cooperating, it was miserable and raining very heavily. We decided to pop back to Animal Kingdom as we’d left early yesterday due to Neil not feeling well.
The good thing about rain is that it means the park was completely empty, if we’d wanted to we could have ridden every ride as there was just no body there.

However we were meant to be on a rest day, so just did the rides we’d missed then headed out. We wanted to go to DTD so said we’d go to POR, SSR or OKW, whichever bus came first. POR won so we headed there and got the boat along to DTD.

I always enjoyed this boat ride, but it was less enjoyable today with rain bleaching in from all angles! We did some shopping then visited EOS for lunch.

EOS was very busy, but they get through the queue so quickly. The rain had eased off by this point so my dad found an empty table outside.

I chose the Hawaiian BBQ, this was delicious, filled with lots of turkey and ham, warm, juicy pineapple chunks and a sweet BBQ sauce.

DH had the caprese which he really enjoyed but I don’t seem to have a picture. Mum had a tuna melt which she absolutely loved, she said this was one of her favourite meals of the trip!
IMG_2149_zpscbf1e353.jpg

Mum had a fruit cup for dessert, all the fruit was ripe and fresh. DH chose a chocolate pudding cup, this was alright but very artificial tasting.

I picked the bread pudding which I really liked. It was very dense but had a good cinnamon flavour, and plenty of raisins.

Another very busy, crowded experience here, but the amazing sandwiches are so worth the wait.

Dinner tonight was at Narcoosees. We were seated immediately, one table away from the window. Our server was an older gentleman, he was friendly but he was a little slow.

I had a Magical star to drink, mainly for the light up cube. This is always a good drink, sweet and sour flavours, and not very strong.
IMG_2158_zps38e54dc7.jpg

We skipped appetisers and enjoyed the complimentary bread. I like a slow paced meal but we waited nearly an hour for our entrees. The table next to us (who waited longer than us) complained to our server, and he eventually came over and said our meals wouldn’t be much longer.
I assumed the kitchen was backed up, but the strange thing was a couple next to us, who were sat after us were served appetisers and entrees, before we received any food.

My entree was the fillet mignon, with Chefs Garden Heirloom Tomato Risotto with Parmigiano-Reggiano, Wilted Savoy Spinach, and Red Wine Sauce. I ordered the fillet medium, and it was over cooked, at more of a medium well. It was tasty but I really prefer steak to be served medium (I would have sent it back but we’d waited so long already, and our server was no where to be seen). The risotto was delicious, perfectly cooked and an incredibly intense tomato flavour. I liked this but the steak itself let the dish down.

My mum chose the Wild halibut, with potatoes, mushrooms, vegetables and a tomato, mustard seed vinaigrette. She really enjoyed this, the fish was well cooked and although halibut isn’t the most flavourful fish, there were a lot of different ingredients on the plate, she said every bite was a little bit different.

Dad enjoyed surf and turf, butter-poached Canadian Waters Lobster Tail and Grilled Filet Mignon, served with mashed potatoes and french beans. He enjoyed this, his steak was also a little overcooked, but he still cleared his plate.
IMG_2170_zpsa958b93a.jpg

DH had the seared scallops, served over trofie pasta with garlic, almonds and raisins. This was very good, the scallops were perfectly cooked and complemented the pasta well. I was tempted to order this dish and after tasting DH’s wished I had.
IMG_2168_zps121f0007.jpg

There was only every going to be one dessert option for me, the Almond crusted Cheesecake. This was as delcious as I’d remembed, crunchy almonds contrasting with the soft almond flavoured cheesecake. It seemed slightly sweeter than in the past, really needing the tart cherries and sauce to contrast the sweetness. My mum ordered this too, agreed it was very good but thought it was slightly too sweet.
IMG_2171_zpsb622681e.jpg

The men both ordered the Cheese plate. DH said this was good but consisted of nearly the same cheeses as California Grill, Mt Tam, Humboldt Fog, Roaring Forties Blue and Petit Agour. There used to be a bit more variety in cheese offerings from the various restaurants, but they still both enjoyed this.
IMG_2172_zpse5a6c09c.jpg

Overall we had a nice meal here, but it was probably the weakest of the signatures we visited, both for service and food. I debated between here and Citricos for months, and think we would have probably had a better quality meal at Citricos, but there were still some stand out dishes tonight (DH’s scallops and of course the cheesecake!)
