# of beds in accessible rms at 3 resorts

Can anyone give me the lowdown on the bed arrangement in the accessible rooms at these resorts?

1. Beach Club
2. Poly
3. AKL

I know that there is only one king-size bed in each of the accessible rooms at the Wilderness Lodge (could make for some interesting sleep-time partnering) and I'd like to avoid a similar conflict should I be assigned to an accessible room in any one of these three resorts for the Disney Marathon in January... I've been paired with the coach and she's nice enough, but just not high on my list of sleeping partners, so I'm hoping that these three resorts don't follow the pattern of the Wilderness Lodge....

Anyone out there know?

We've had accessible rooms at the Polynesian and the Beach Club. At both resorts, the rooms had two queens and a daybed.

All the acessible rooms at the Polynesian are like this, I believe and we've stayed there many times. I don't know if there are any accessible rooms at the BC with only a king.

I also stayed in a room at the AKL that I later learned from these boards was apparently "sort of " accessible. It did not have a rollin shower but someone told me that because of the layout, it was accessible? Anyway, it had a king bed and a daybed. I suspect but don't know for a fact that accessible rooms at the AKL would be king rooms because like WL the rooms are smaller than the other deluxe resorts.

The accessible rooms at the Polynesian are great. Much easier to store a chair, etc. than the Beach Club. Transportation to MK and Epcot is a breeze.

There is a whole board here at the DIS that might be able to help you more....DisAbilities. Lots of helpful folks there.

You are a Prince (Princess?) for responding so quickly.... It sounds like I won't be staying at AKL, if the program directors have any sense. The Poly sounds perfect because of the easy transport... Yayyyyy I'll check the other board, too...

From what I've been told, there are different levels of accessibility. Some rooms follow all the ADA guidelines for full wheelchair accessibility. Those are the ones with roll in showers and roll under sinks. Then they have some rooms that are handicapped equipped, but not fully wheelchair accessible. Those have grab bars and raised seat toilets, but they have regular tubs or showers with grab bars.

Sue, that was the weird thing. While I was in the room, I didn't notice it being accessible. This was on a 2 night mini-retreat for just me before my husband flew down with our two younger kids. So I had not requested accessible. I don't think it had a bar by the toilet...there may have been grab bars in the tub/shower??

Anyway, after I was home there was a post that led me to believe that it had to be an accessible room. Maybe something about the arrangement of the sinks?

BTW videogal1, someone has posted on the disABILITIES forum that there are rooms accessible rooms at AKL with two queens.
