Odds of getting a 2 bedroom at BWV?

We will be going Sept 28-Oct 2, 2011 and need a 2 bedroom - are our chances good at the 7 month window?

It's very possible to get a 2 bedroom preferred view during this time.

That is the very begining of the food and wine festival- if you are willing to take any view and call exactly at 7 months you have a chance.

I would think you stand a good chance. I was able to get a 1BR this year with only 4 months notice at BWV for the second week of Sept. I would call at exactly 7 months however.

Since all two bedroom villas at BWV are lockoffs, you probably should have an okay chance at 7 months out.

I would say possible but not a given. We had to wait list 2 middle days in this Oct's 7-day stay @ BW in a 2 bedroom, and it was a couple months before the waitlist came through. The problem was the studio, the 1 bedroom part was available for all 7 days right from the beginning. Good luck.

We got a 1 bedroom in 2006 at the 7 month window, and made no other requests. But, since that time, it seems like there has always been a day or two that we were not able to get, and we dont like split stays during our vacation so we have not been back.

It is great being at the BWV or BCV's during F&W fest -

There aren't any dedicated 2 BR? I guess my husband and I can take the one BR and put the 4 girls in the Studio - and leave the doors open. Also, we would want the BW view - does this make a difference? And yes I will call the am of the 7th month!

Correct, no dedicated two bedroom villas at BWV. They are all lockoffs.

You probably won't get the BW view at 7 months out. They go pretty quickly at 11 months out.

You'd probably have to have a dump truck load of pixie dust to get the BW view at 7 months out. Unless someone who has one decides to book elsewhere and cancels. But it should go to someone on the waitlist first.

Yep, you were. I'd guess you lucked onto a cancellation that hadn't hit the wait list if you got one that close to travel - but the last weekend in September is generally F&W. And F&W is one of the reasons a lot of people own at BWVs. So you get more owners booking during that period - and fewer cancellations. Since about 20% of the rooms are standard and 20% BW View - when the resort is over 40% full, usually all that's left is Preferred view.

We were there from 9/8 through 9/12. I know it's not during F & W, but it was over our schools holiday break (they were closed Thursday and Friday for Rosh Hashanah)

Not a busy time at all. Probably one of the easier times to get something short notice.

We were able to get a BW view 2b about 3 months out this past April. We actually had one reserved but had to switch our days. I was thrilled that a BW view was still available.
Granted this wasn't during F&W, but it was still nice to be there during F&G.

From what I understand - and I take this from several DVC owners that we have spoken to recently - that have stayed as recently as this spring - some of the Villas are beginning to really show their age prematurely - and really be in very ill repair. Mold, mildew, falling wallpaper, dirty surfaces, worn paint, worn furniture etc etc etc are all among the complaints that I have heard. After hearing all of that I kind of wanted to cancel at BWV and change to somewhere else - however we really wanted to try BWV - and hopefully repair issues won't surface in our room - and hopefully it will be as awesome as our other DVC vacations have been!

Any BWV owners wish to dispute the stories I have heard?? PLEASE DO!

It it possible, I suppose, that someone has trashed a newly refurbished BWV room. I hope not, since the refurb is less than a year old. We stayed last Oct., Dec., Feb., and April and our rooms were lovely.
