Hello, I am an american visiting your board, hope this is OK. Here is my question. My mother just got married to a Canadian. (by the way he is also German). He is a wonderful man and we are all travelling to WDW this October. We will be flying stateside so customs will not be and issue. Anyway this will sound stupid but I want to eat at Le Celliar. Is there anything actually Canadian about it. Will he think it is a joke. I realize people are people, but our life experiences are different. I have never really known what visitors of other countries think of world showcase. He has never been. Also is there anything special you recommend or something we should just really see. I want him to feel so welcome in our family and have a really great time with us. My son is just so thrilled to have his new Oopa. (remember he is acctually german) We are too. My father died when my son was about 20 months and is was hard to loose Papa. But my son just loves his Oopa. Thank you for any info you can share with me. By the way he lives in Hamilton which I believe is outside Toronto. I am looking forward to going there to visit soon as I have never been and hear it is wonderful...

First, visitors here are always welcome.

Yes, there are some very Canadian things about Le Cellier, most especially the Maudite beer (drink cautiously -- Maudite is French for evil, and it is 8% alcohol, but very tasty). I loved the cheddar cheese soup. Depending upon the server, there may be some humour (I kept reflexively answering our server in French because of her accent, and I'm not sure she understood me), but I don't think he will think the restaurant is a joke. You might want to avoid the movie, though. ;)

We love World Showcase, and enjoy visiting the different countries. I'm sure you'll all have a great time.

Kungaloosh!

Hey Pooh!

I think le Cellier is a wonderful option! besides the Maudite and Fin Du Monde beer options, the menu offerssome delicious steak and salmon options. As a Canadian, it is always a tad funny to visit the Canadian pavillion in World Showcase. It is, uhm, how shall i put it 'traditional' and 'folkloric'. The film is a tad outdates but we always get a kick out of visiting!

Come and visit us in Hamilton(lots of us on this board) :wave2:
