We are hoping to buy 150 points direct very soon (just trying to make final decision about home resort). We have a vacation planned towards the end of the year at DVC Hilton Head (paid cash). If we were to cancel this trip to Hilton Head, would DVC be willing to put that money towards our direct points purchase (which would not be at Hilton Head)?

I don’t know if Disney would directly do that, but if you’re outside the cancellation penalty window, you could cancel, get the cash back, and apply it toward your purchase.

Pretty sure they are different P&Ls (cash bookings and DVD sales). You'd have to get the refund and then pay it in.
