Odd Question for Lefties...

I'm a lefty. I don't recall having any issues writing or printing in school. I'm also ambi so I use my right hand for scissors or throwing a ball. I learned to type with ease in high school, so no, nothing really affected me at school being a lefty.

One thing I just remembered. I used to dread being called up to the chalk-board to by the teacher.

Because I was a lefty, I had to write in an awkward position to keep my writing from smearing. I made some of the loudest chalk screeches ever heard.......(SCREEEEEEEEEEEK)

Just as bad as fingernails on the board IMO.

My Mom is a lefty.....anytime she went to smack me...I never saw it comin!:headache:

:lmao: Oh man, that's funny!!

When my niece was a baby, she grabbed everything with her left hand, so we knew she was another southpaw (4th generation). The funny thing is, she only writes left-handed, but does everything else right-handed. I discovered this a few weeks ago when we went bowling & I noticed she threw the ball with her right hand. I don't think she has any issues writing; in fact, her handwriting is kind of cute. :)

Just thought I would post something that actually happened to my 3 year old son this morning. He had school readiness testing this morning. One of the portions is on drawing. Well, the lady handed DS the pencil in his right hand. He looked at her and then at me and quicly switched it to his left hand while she was telling him what he was supposed to do. He kind of was holding the pencil funny (and he never does that). And she failed him on this part because she said that he looked confused as to what hand to use and held the pencil funny. I said "well, he is left-handed and you gave him the pencil in his right, I think that confused him". She still failed him. :sad2:

I think my boy is a lefty...

Anything I should Know?

Is there a different way he should write letters??

I know it's a silly question... but I lack any knowledge base on this...

Thanks!

My son flunked cutting with scissors in preschool. I could never figure out why.

Years later, when he went to a neurologist, the doctor told me that he was left brain (or is it right brain?) dominant and should be using his left hand instead of his right hand.

We've never ever forced him to use either hand. He chose to use his right hand all by himself.

My bil is a switch hitter when he plays baseball (he played semipro years ago). I can also hit the ball from both sides and write pretty well with my left hand. I am right handed.

I always figured my brain is confused on which way to go.
