Odd MS Call..

OK, so I called yesterday to book for VGC next November. I'm booking 2 studios, one for us and one for DS and family. It seemed to take longer than normal even thought the CM was very nice. I was prepared for them asking for a CC, but it didn't seem like they really cared if I gave it or not. After the whole thinig was done, the CM says he's transferring me to a Travel...something...Expediter? Specialist? something I didn't catch..I then had to give my info again and she looks up the reservations and then it seems like her whole purpose was giving me yet another number..not the reservation numbers..and she had me repeat it to her to make sure I'd written it down. When I asked what it was for she said I'd need it in case another party in another room would be joining us so they could assign us closer rooms..??? huh??? I already booked everyone coming and do they really have so many people calling saying they are joining the so-and-so family and want to be next to them? This just seemed really odd to me. Anyone else have this happen and if someone was traveling at the same time and wanted a room close to someone couldn't they just give them their name? It seemed like a big extra deal for no big reason actually.
I also put in my view requests since last time I checked in I was told I had to do that through MS which was also new ( I learned my lesson on that having gotten a ground floor room last time)

You were transfered because you are booking 2 rooms. They are trying to get your rooms close together and putting both rooms under 1 travel plan number.

This is a new program that Disney is trying.

Several people have reported going through this same process, myself included. It remains to be seen if it actually works so that those traveling together actually get rooms together. We may never actually know, as how can we really tell what would have happened if they DIDN'T have this new procedure. And any results are MONTHS away. Our reservations are for August!

I'm sure those for whom it DOESN'T work will be quick to report it on the Dis.

Rooms together? I put my sons family on one floor, my daughters on another, and grandpa on a third. Much quieter at night.

Different floors? Try different resorts if you really want it quiet!

It sounds like they transfered you to whatever Disneyland's version of the grand gathering team would be.

We got a "travel with" number for our reservations Oct. 22 - 29, 2011. We had a GV, a 2 bedroom and 2 - 1 bedroom BW view rooms. We requested upper floor. I was surprised that they managed to get us all on 5th floor and close together, since there aren't that many BW view rooms and only 7 GVs. (It was impossible to get us in consecutive rooms because the room sizes were not right.) 'Travel with" seemed to work for us.

The travel with number has happened to me too!

Sounds like MS is trying to improve reservations for multiple villas reserved for/by people traveling together...my last two reservations before this past one, they put me and my guests on one travel plan and it created multiple problems...couldn't do online checkin; they wouldn't send ME packets to my guests, etc.--all, they said, because of using the same travel number...

This last reservation I made, they automatically put each of my two reserved studios under a separate number--but asked me if I would prefer they put us together in one travel plan. I said no, to avoid the problems I had on two previous trips...

Makes me happy to learn they're trying to improve the situation!

hmmm..ok..so Travel PLAN is where I was transferred. OK.. I nearly always book 2 rooms and we've always been within a few doors of each other before this, but if it makes it easier for them, then OK. We go to DLR so no need for ME or dining plans or any of that.
