Last time we went to Disney we had one of those trips were odd things happened, the kind of things that made you take a pause and scratch your head.

For instance the airline LOST MY MOM!!:confused3 We found her, so no worries after 7 hours!

My Mom has a scooter, but at times she is uncomfortable loading it onto various transportation vehicles, the bus, or say the monorail. So one time while we were in Epcot she refused to back her scooter up after we finished a ride, so I climbed in, put my arm over the back of the seat (so I could see everything as I REVERSED), and I promptly scooted forward full throttle and hit the building, much to the amusement of my fellow mousers!

But I think the oddest thing that happened was when we were eating lunch at the BROWN DERBY, the woman at the next table started to floss her teeth!!!!popcorn:: I mean she went to town, she smelled the floss at times, and picked pieces off of it! This woman was very nicely dressed, nice jewelry too. Has anyone else ever witnessed such bad manners at a restaurant at Disney?

You know, none of us really enjoyed our lunch after that.

Ew!!! I was already slightly nauseous before I read this, now I really am!!! :)

Made myself sick too. I have seen some odd things at times from fellow Mousers but that rated up their as one of the worst.

I have seen some men melt down over the cost of items much to the chagrin of their family but that was pretty nasty.:sad2:

I am not sure why this happens to her, I can plan, :surfweb:do my strategy but this is not the first time.

My Mom had finished her chemo/radiation therapy. Physically she is zapped, she also has what she refers to as "chemo brain", which we take as to she is not quite as sharp as she was before treatment. (this is her second fight with cancer). This whole trip was to celebrate her, (Grandma), she picked the hotel (Yacht Club), and the time we went to Disney (flower festival). She was worried that she would be going through the airports by herself, so I tried very hard just to get a direct flight from Pensacola to Orlando, could not get one at that time, so next best thing get her on an airline where she would not transfer to a different airline. When she checked in that morning in Pensacola, the person who checked her in failed to input her into system all the way:headache:

So this was not caught until the flight boarded, AIRTRAN told her she had to go all the way back to the front of the airport and see what happened. My MOM is 73 ( not as fast as she use to be but even if she was a marathon runner there was no time). So they put her on a different flight, BUT I PAID for this ticket, so here your sign type of moment, another glitch. She is feeling overwhelmed at this point, I was flying with my girls from Nebraska at this time, they could not get a hold of me, so she called my brother to come up to airport to help her work it out. He comes up they book her on another flight, Pensacola to Atlanta then to Orlando. Will she missed the Atlanta to Orlando connection because of bad weather, and she just got moved around for awhile in Atlanta, and ignored. I was in Orlando, a bit worried, could not get a hold of her, nor could my brother. (:confused3 Grandma forgot to turn her phone back on after she landed). When I talked to AIRTRAN in Orlando they played dumb. Finally someone took pity on her:hug: they got her onto the next available flight, ( no cost to us). But it was over 7 hours late. actually my daughter informed me that she was really closer to 8 hours.

The whole thing on her flying was to meet her at the airport, she was so scared about being in large airports by herself. I had assured her we would get there first, and wait for her at the terminal, then we could go collect everyone's luggage at the same time. I assured her over and over, no worries we will be there before you, you will not be by yourself for any length of time.:sad2:

My brother was furious, we have no idea why she was done like this. I know people make mistakes, but of all people why her? My brother thinks the plane was overbooked, and she was really bumped. She is a a tiny thing, she use to teach emotionally handicapped, and learning disabled. She is very soft spoken, and because of her work she tends to carry herself in a laid back manner. I hate to think that this works against her but this happened to her when before when she was flying out to stay with us when I was living in Albuquerque New Mexico. Do they think the little old ladies with the soft voices, and gentle manners will be less likely to raise a stink at the airport?:sad2:

I posted before you elaborated. Of course I wouldn't have joked had I known the details. I apologize.

OOOOHHH!!! That floss thing is gross :eek::eek: I probably would have started gagging.

I had a boss that used to come into my office and brush her teeth every day. Don't ask why my office had a sink in it:rotfl: Yuck, yuck, yuck.

I am sure, all of us are protective of those we love, and I have a soft spot for elderly people.:lovestruc I have been like this since I was a little girl. My Mom has always joked since I was a little girl she knows as she gets older she has now worries, that I would always be at her side worrying over her.:lovestruc You would not think an airline could lose a person, luggage yes, but not know where a passenger is???

Dang, what a way to start off the day! I worked audio/visual office, and I had someone there with a gas problem. After lunch like clock work, Dennis would come into our CONTAINED office (we had to shut the door because of the film, dust, cross contamination etc.) And you would have thought that the bowels of hell had been let lose on us. It was HORRID. I always had a jar of VICKS I used to combat the odor.:lmao:o

What is with people and their flossing and nail clipping where ever they please? How hard is it to go into the bathroom to do these things?

I think manners start at home when we are young. I just could not get over that woman flossing her teeth at the dining table. I still can picture it, and it is not pretty. The woman obviously had money, but the manners of a baboon!

I try hard to teach my daughters manners, common courtesy for others. Just as I was taught.

For instance my brother was taught to hold doors for women, but it is not thought of in the same way now I have been told. We have been on the monorail or bus at Disney, and had a pregnant woman get on and have to stand and it use to be that men from all over would jump up and offer their seats to the pregnant women, but you just don't see it like you use to. Or even the elderly people would be offered seats. I guess manners do not rank up in importance any more.:sad2:

A lot of people go to WDW for the rides, but I've always found the best ride to be simply watching the people. You can pass away hours and see all kinds of interesting things and the best part is there are no lines!

that is just nasty,i would have said something..like "you know they have a bathroom here"
there was this one time we saw a mom,dad and daughter about 17ish and they were all screaming at one another. the dd was saying something like-i do everthing fyou wanrt to do and all you do is yell at me and i get no respect! THE DAUGHTER WAS TELLING HER PARENTS this...and hey were like screeming back at her-it was awful but funny at the same time.another time we saw this family that was wearing the matching t shirts and on the tshirts was a picture of a female family member dressed like a pole dancer and it said something, couldnt really make it out.but it was definately unapropriate for disney.

my girlfriend floss's her teeth all the time after she eats- no matter where she is.:upsidedow she always asks me if i want floss um no but her teeth are plearly white otherwise she has good mannners :lmao:

This is just more proof that you don't have to have money to have class! :thumbsup2
Amen:angel:

I just don't get it:headache:. I have never witnessed this before at a restaurant. :sad2: I hope I never do see it again. We ranked it up there with the time we watched a man reach over the dinner table at a restaurant on Pensacola Beach and hit his girlfriend with his fist, breaking her nose and sending blood arcing across the area.

I agree, and I have been known to sit back and enjoy the showpopcorn::

It nice to know there are other people out there who make me feel better about my family:rolleyes: Give me hope that we are more normal than I realized
