odd little check-in and split-stay question

So I'm taking my roommates with me on my next trip, but because we see each other *every day* normally, we're spending the first part of the vacation in separate studios, then moving to a shared 1br.

I know that not everyone needs to be there when we check in to the shared room, but does the first one to arrive necessarily get *everyone's* room keys, or can the later arrivals' keys be left for them to pick up when *they* arrive? All involved reservations are on my DVC membership and linked under the same reservation # (It would be awesome if that meant we used the same KTTW cards the whole week, but I'm not holding my breath on that one).

Bonus question: Our last day is booked in an AKL Club level 1br (and wait-listed for the 2 days before). I'm staying a day longer than they are, and was going to have a SV studio, but my wait-list for a CL 1br just came through. What's the likelihood I'll be able to just stay in the shared 1br for my extra night, rather than having to check out and back in again?

I can answer the first part and that is whoever checks in first can leave the other keys to be picked up when the others get there. We have done this in the past.

I would think you could stay in the one bedroom. You might ask to have that linked to the original one and if needed put everyone's name on it even though they won't be there. That way it is just a continuation of the original one. When my WL have come through they were just added to the original .
Does it show up as a separate reservation number? If not I bet you can just stay in that room.

Unless your shared 1BR is also concierge it's almost 100% that you will have to move. The DVC concierge rooms are all located on the 6th floor at Jambo and all other DVC jambo rooms are on the 5th floor.

To clarify, our final night as a group *is* on concierge level. The complete schedule is as follows:
nights 1&2: just me, in a studio at BLT;
Nights 3&4: I stay in my studio at BLT, the guys arrive and have a studio at BWV;
Nights 5&6: We all move into a 1br at Kidani (this is wait-listed for Jambo CL);
Night 7: we all go over to Jambo CL 1br;
Night 8: the guys go home, I get one more night in Jambo CL (this is the wait-list that just came through).

It's more moving around than I'd usually do, but the guys *really* wanted to see what CL was like. If the wait-list for nights 5 and 6 comes through, I'll hopefully only have to move once, which is a bit more my style.

A couple of points that come to mind. You have a reservation for different rooms but with the new Disney software, all reservations for this vacation will be under one Travel Plan number. One number doesn't mean that you won't have to move or that you will have the same KTTW card.

IMO getting Concierge for you last day is a mistake. The room may not be available until after 4:00 and you have to vacate the room before 11:00 the next day. Not much time to enjoy the room.

You can check in early and get access to the lounge while you wait for your room.
