Odd Exclusion from 40% off Deluxes

The new Winter Rates...thought we might have got the discount for our dates, but we knew it was a long shot and it didn't happen. Everyone must be there 12/26 - 12/31.

But, what was curious is why is The Grand Floridian, our resort of choice, being lumped in with the Moderates..if we change our dates, it would have been nice to get the 40% off that comes with all the other deluxes?

I found that curious as well. When the initial buzz came out over the weekend, it was mentioned that one of the MK-area resorts would be at the mod-level discount. I thought maybe it'd be WL.

What % does the Poly qualify for? Does anyone know???

I find the GF odd as well unless it was more full than the other deluxes during the time frame so less need to push it OR if they are doing this as a test to see how it does when it is clumped in (if it does as well as a lower rate they may start doing it more often) - just a thought. Let me know about Poly, please!

The CM I talked to this morning said the 40% off didn't apply to the CR (at least for our dates/GW). She offered to change me to the Poly, but I decided against that, as we have our heart set on CR (Got the $500 gift card instead). Seems odd to have a lower discount at some than others, and none at other hotels.

This really seems odd because, during our time, the monorail resorts are booked solid, but there is much available at AKL. It doesn't seem that there is a rhyme or reason to this set of discounts. Maybe this is the "weaning" off set. Weaning people from the deluxes? And BTW, where is the AP discounts???? Hopefully, they are not trying to wean their AP holders from coming at all.

I just changed our Poly reservation this morning and we got 40% off the room rate. We saved about $1200 on our Oct trip!

I was hoping for 40% off at AKL for our January dates, but took the 25% off they offered.

For our Jan. dates, the standard club level for AKL is $365 and the standard CL for WL is $425 before discounts, so even though the discount is less at AKL, at least it's only $23 more a night for AKL.

We're currently booked at AKL with free dining and I tried playing around with our dates (beginning of December), there's no availability from Dec 1-2 but things open up on the 3rd. Changing our dates isn't an option, but fortunately free dining was still a better deal for the 2 of us vs. 25% off though.

We were originally booked at the GF w FD-I was waiting for the 40% off; well I changed to the BC and added a day and am saving $700!

But I really wanted to stay @ the GF in Dec.

Oh well, I love the BC!!!

Well that's strange because I already have a ressie at CR but just for fun I pulled up the same room on their site and it came up as being 40% off. . . I also just got an email from my TA and I'm saving $1,000 off a 5 night stay Feb 10-15

I was not able to get the 40% off for my dates in Jan/Feb at the CR Theme park view..
I kept moving the chekin day up and when I got to 3 days sooner I was able to get the 40% off!! So it was almost like getting the 3 days free! Strange.

prob cause the GF doesnt need to offer the 40% to finish filling up. They can still fill it up with only 25/30%.

The trend lately has not favored APs at all. We now seem to fall behind Disney Visa, and lately even the General Public rates. I was waiting for the AP rate for this August, and it came out several weeks after the GP rate. It was a little cheaper, by 5% at the most.

The latest discounts are proving this again. The GP rate came out today for now until February 2011. The only AP rates out now are good until October 2010. Another test by the Marketing department?

Oh well, I'll still go to WDW. It just won't be like the old days when you felt like they were respecting you as an AP and valued you as a guest.

I rebooked a 2011 Value Season stay (early Feb) at GF today using the new room only discount and I actually got a 35% discount, not 30% as listed in the offer. Haven't tried any other dates so I'm not sure if this is a glitch or not.
