I am trying to book a last minute trip for October the weekend of the 16-19 (Sat-Tues.) and there are NO studios available ANYWHERE...I know it is F & W and MNSSHP, but really...NOTHING??? Any other insight as to why this might be?

I was there last year on the first weekend of F & W and stayed at the Boardwalk in a 1 bdrm villa...

I am willing to stay anywhere but there is nothing for the whole stay, I can pick up the 16 and the 18th but not with the 17...

any insight, am I missing something...or do the studios really go that fast?
Thanks.
Carrie

October is very popular for DVC, you need to book farther in advance. Did you waitlist?

Yep F & W, MNSSHP, cooler weather & lighter crowds are big draws for DVC members. Although w/ free dining being extended, I think it's going to be busier than usual. We booked November 10-15 a couple of months ago & our choices were very limited for a 1 BR. We decided on OKW since we haven't stayed there yet & wait listed BWV & BLT just so we could be closer to the parks, but I'm not holding my breath.

Did you try wait listing the 17th? Since you only need a studio for one night, your chances of that becoming available are much better than someone looking for a 2 BR for 4 or 5 nights. Plus you could try calling everyday since cancellations do happen & they don't always get put to wait lists for some reason. Or maybe you could pay cash for the 17th? Just some ideas.

I booked a 2 bedrrom last April for our trip in Oct and all I could get was SSR. I have been on a wait list for BWV and BCV without success so far. I call every few days to see if even a few days has opened up and nothing has, not even 1 night. Hope the parks aren't as crowded as the DVC resorts!!

you say nothing available (studios) but were there any 1 bedrooms open. Is it just studios you want?:goodvibes did you waitlist?

I have a ressie for a studio Oct 9-12 at Kidani....I called about a month or 2 ago and tried to switch to a different resort (we are waitilisted for Beach Club or Boardwalk). I was trying to switch it to anything else......really was hoping to get Saratoga but no luck getting anything so we are still at Kidani with a waitlist at Boardwalk or Beach Club. I am still crossing my fingers but ....I think its just a busy time & we are going specifically for food & wine

This year is our first F&W trip. We'll be there in early October but I have read posts that others are going for the first time later in the month. I just think more and more people are going to the F&W.

And from everything I've read, waiting until August to book in October is pretty late. The same could be said for December. I believe that the first villas to book up are 2BR dedicated, followed closely by studios and lock off 2BRs. One BRs seem to available the longest, probably since you pay more points but usually cannot sleep more people than in a 1BR.

Have you checked into staying for cash at a regular Disney resort? We got a good rate for a value for the night before we check in to our DVC resort, but again that reservation was made in June.

Good luck.

thanks all, I am still trying to decide what to do.

I know it is last minute, I was just hopeful for something. Looking for studio.

Do they ever open up cash reservations to be used with DVC points, or are there just a limited number of rooms and once they are all reserved...too bad???

I have done a split stay before points/cash and it worked out fine. Also waiting for AP discounts to come out for that time, might end up not staying DVC at all...

I guess it is just a busy weekend.
