I am still trying to pin point dates even though I have set december 9tyh thru the 16th . I am wondering about October, whats going on in this month, or November that would cause park over load. I know gay days are the 5th of October, any one know if there are schools out ? whats going on in november?
I wonder about the best time to go where its not so cold, and not so crowded. thanks much

There are a lot of schools out on Fall break in October (different states around CA, and it seems to be popular to go to DL for them), and with all the Halloween festivities, the park gets quite crowded through out the month. Last year we went the 9-13, and it was more crowded then a few July trips we've had.

I think November is probably okay as long as you stay away from Veteran's Day weekend and Thanksgiving. But that's just what I've heard, I'm sure someone else can correct me if I'm wrong! :)

Sounds great, so I will look to November :0 I do not want to go when the park if full of out of school children :) . any one got some info on November?

Early November you will see Halloween stuff come down and the very beginnings of Christmas stuff going up. If you go after Veteran's Day you will see many more Christmas decorations and possibly even the big tree on Main Street. If you go after the 21st (avoid Thanksgiving week), you will get to see Christmas entertainment in full swing (parade, Fireworks, shows, etc.).

My favorite time to go in November is the week after Thanksgiving, but this year would put you into the first week of Dec. We had rain last year during that week.

Weather during the beginning of November might experience Santa Ana winds which can cancel fireworks.

Hows the weather like in december? do we need heavy coats? I come from Montana, I want out of the cold LOL!

Why does everyone always forget my birthday? Um, I mean Columbus Day. in October. :)

December was sunny and somewhat cool. The evenings come on faster than they do up here in WA and over in MT b/c it's so much further south, and the temperature change, IMO, is dramatic. I have needed a sweatshirt in the evenings, especially in dec and Jan.

nice during the day cold at night I would bring your heavy jacket. I was the dec 8-12 and it rained the first day and cold at night.

We've watched the Christmas parade in shorts and tank tops one year, and hats and coat the next!

Does anyone know the exact dates of Gay Days this year? And how it effects the crowd level?

I just (5 minutes ago!) booked HOJO's for Oct 6/7/8. I think that Gay Days are Oct 3-5, going by this website:

http://www.gaydaysanaheim.com/

We went in October 2002 and it was very light, that is, until the Anaheim Angels had a game? I think they went to the world series? (can you tell I don't follow baseball?) Anyway, the park was so packed, I have never seen anything like it! We were barely able to walk through the crowd, and didn't ride anything. Instead of taking pictures of Disneyland, we were taking pictures of the crowds because we were in such amazement, lol.

Hopefully that does not happen again, what a nightmare! Other than that day, the crowds were very light, the weather was great, and we had a lot of fun.

We honeymooned during Gay Days 2004 (happy accident) and the crowds were not too bad and were certainly more pleasant to share the park with than crowds of shrieking cheerleaders. It didn't feel especially crowded to us.

You will have the transition change from halloween-christmas. Also thanksgiving break tends to attract crowds I know a few famlies who go to celebrate there. Dec starts candlelight professional, also cast partys, then winter break hits.

Hows the 6th thru the 13th October look? anything going on, crowd wise?? is the haunted mansion up? and besides small world anything else going down for refurbs?

We were there in '07 from Oct 9th-13th, it was super crowded. Fall break for a lot of states. Plus the Mickey's Halloween Treat parties going. The Haunted Mansion will be up. Get there early and use those FP. It was a zoo for us last year at those times (never again for us :scared1:!).

Thanks Jen, I was thinking of going at a different time, but I better just stick to my december trip. I am not sure any date will be low crowds:lmao:

We just booked our trip for Oct. 6- 10 and the CM on the phone said that all three resort hotels were wide open this week. Not sure what this indicates, but I took it as a good sign. Hopefully we will get the end of Gay Days and leave before the Utahns arrive for Fall break. Not that we mind sharing the park with either group, just really want small crowds for my little one with special needs!

This is true, with all the different year round schedules schools have, I'm not sure off season really exsists anymore! I guess it's always a roll of the dice. It wasn't that many years ago that October was considered a really low crowd time. We were pretty shocked at the crowds! But we've never had a fall break either, so that was new to me! :)

Even with our trip in June, I have hopes the first week of June will be low crowds. With most schools still in. But who knows, it could still be a mad house. LOL Just gotta try and enjoy either way!
