October Weather

Hi everyone!

Looking for some insight on the weather in the Caribbean in October...we're taking a cruise Oct. 28-Nov. 4th and it's the Western itinerary. Has anyone done this cruise this time of year? Is it warm enough to wear shorts and sleeveless shirts? How was the water temp?

I believe it's pretty warm, our September cruise was very hot

Depends on the Year. I cruised one October and the water at Castaway was too cold to swim. Went December a year ago and it was a little cool but great.
I will say thought I live in Orlando and we typically don't get our first cold front until the end of October.

We have been twice in late October and the weather was great. I believe the temps were in the low 80s. We wore shorts, swimsuits, and sundresses. One morning very early it was windy enough for a light jacket, but it warmed up quickly. The water at CC was just right for us. I would not hesitate to go again at this time of year.

We did the 4 night Bahamas cruise Oct 31 - Nov 4 this year and the weather was perfect. Not so hot you didn't want to go out on deck, but easily warm enough to swim and enjoy the water. We did have quite a bit of wind in the evening, so wore sweatshirts on the upper decks, but still comfortable in shorts.

The farther south you go, the warmer it will be. For us, the weather was fine after Hurricane Sandy got out of the way.

We always do our cruises from around mid October to the first week of November. The weather has been great each time! Its normally in the high 70's to low 80's. The water in Castaway Cay was fine for us, not cold at all!

I've never done it, but I know a lot of people that cruise and they all rave about the weather being perfect October through early Nov.

As long as you're aware that it is hurricane season and the possibility exists that a cruise could end up changed or cancelled if one blows up, the weather is reportedly good.
