Hi everyone!
We are planning our very first trip to WDW for October 2006 (the week surrounding Columbus Day). Has anyone ever visited then? Does anyone know what the weather might be like? Is is worth bringing a bathing suit? :cool1:

I went last year from October 7th through the 18th and swam everyday!!!! definitely bring your suit. Even though last year it was unseasonably warm, it is usually warm enough to swim and even spend a day or so at the waterparks. I finally got to go to Blizzard Beach and it was a lot of fun. Typhoon Lagoon had some new, to me, slides last October that I really loved. :cool1: :sunny: :Pinkbounc :bounce: I want to go again at the same time of year because it was warm enough not to roast but not too cool to enjoy the pools.

Welcome to the DIS! I am going to move your questions over to the Theme Park Strategies Boards. You will probably get a lot more answers. Also, take a look at our resorts boards, we have many, many boards and hopefully you will find out a lot about WDW!

We went Oct 1-8 the weather was iffy tropical storm tammy was around and it rained and was very humid but we had a great time anyway

Take your swimsuit, you may not use it, but you have it just in case. Check out information on Mickey's Not-so-scary Halloween Party. It is on select nights at the Magic Kingdom. It is a separate ticketed event, but definitely worth going to. We went last year for the first time and had a blast!

I like visiting Underground Weather (www.wunderground.com) then click on Trip Planner, then enter your location and dates. It will give you the average temps during that period plus rain fall. It's really helpful when you're planning a trip.

My family has been there twice in October. For us, it was really hot and humid and definitely great swimming/water park weather. I think it's all relative -- we left cool temperatures at home and it's never humid here, so we really felt it was HOT, but for others, it may not have seemed so hot. We always bring swimsuits since the pools have always been warm.

I've been 3 times in Oct and it was mid-high 80's two times and low 90's the other trip. We've been very lucky with minimal rain. I do think that the crowds are a bit higher around Columbus Day.

We always swim in October. Since it's usually getting cooler at home, it feels especially warmer to us! Not a problem at all and a great relaxation technique after a day in the parks! :goodvibes

Welcome to the DIS!!! You will find answers to all of your questions here.
We've been many times in October and we always swim. In fact last year I thought it was HOT and HUMID. We actually took swim breaks each day.
October is a nice time of year to go. It has gotten busier over the past several years due to the popularity of the Food & Wine Fest, Super Soap Weekend, Festival of the Masters in DTD and the Funai Gold Tournament.
That said, we still find it a nice time of year to visit.
Make sure that you make your ADR's for restaurants early, so that you will have the dinner reservations that you want.
Enjoy and Have Fun!
