October room only discounts?

Pardon my question as I am new to all of this. I booked airfare for Oct 15 - Oct 22nd. Really want to get my room booked and out of the way. With all the rumblings of the room only discount am I better off waiting to book and hope Disney announces room only discounts for my time there?

I am not a pro either so if I say something incorrect I hope someone helps out and corrects me.

My understanding is that you can book now and pay a deposit and if a discount is released you can then call and apply the discount. If, however, the room that you book is not included in the discount you will have to change room type and/ or resort.

I really hope that a RO discount for October comes out soon. It sure would be nice to get a "preview" like the free dining folks recently got, too. Fingers crossed for all of us!
