I was reading another thread about the removal of drawers in a hotel might make someone rethink staying there. So that got me curious. Do you unpack when you are at a hotel? Use the drawers or hangup your clothes?

I NEVER unpack. I keep all my clothes in my suitcase. I usually just pile the dirty clothes on the floor next to my suitcase until it is time to leave when I fold them, put them in a plastic bag and back in the suitcase.

It all depends on how long I am in a hotel. If it's an overnight stop then no. If I am on vacation and staying two nights or more I will completely unpack. I don't like having suitcases out or having an untidy room.
Agreed, anything more than two nights requires a full unpacking. If its just one or two nights I hang up whatever might get wrinkled or needs to get unwrinkled lol. I have a dirty clothes bag that I keep in the bathroom. I really have a hard time travelling with people who aren't concerned with the tidyness of the space especially if its a longer trip and there's a kitchen area, tv area -- I'm always wiping areas down and making piles.

Would a small pile of clothes in the corner annoy you? Other than that I do tend to keep the room tidy. I am rarely in the room to begin with so not much opportunity to make too much of a mess.

My next hotel stay is with an unpacker. We've never done more than an overnight before. I have no clue 4 night hotel stay will look.

Actually it would but I understand that is a "me" problem. I always made my kids put their dirty clothes in a pile IN THE CLOSET, out of sight. I just find it easier to put my dirty clothes directly into a bag that goes into my suitcase when we leave.

Two to three nights, little unpacking. We try to always get two queen beds so every night I take out my clothes for next day and stack on the extra bed. Cosmetics go into bathroom.

Longer than 3 nights, I probably unpack at least the things I think I will use at that stop. Our trips often include multiple stops with various activities so I might not need my hiking shoes for one stop and might not need my nicer outfit at another.

This.

My dirty clothes get folded and put in a pile. Sometimes in the closet, sometimes in a corner. Makes it easier to pick up the pile and put in the suitcase when it's time to leave.

Sort of. If more than 1 night I’ll put the bathroom stuff in the bathroom, hang shirts I plan on wearing while at that hotel and I like a drawer for dirty clothes. If it’s longer than 2-3 nts I’ll use another drawer for my non-hanging and miscellaneous items.

I’d be annoyed at no drawers in a room I was going to be in for more than 1-2 nights.

I think the only times I have unpacked in a hotel is trips to Las Vegas. The only times I stayed long enough to make it worthwhile.

I do unpack on cruises though, even short 2 or 3 day ones. Mainly because the room is so small you need the space that would be taken up by keeping the suitcase out.

What hotel room doesn't have drawers? I mean, I've been in some that the drawers aren't part of furniture, but there's sliding "racks" that would handle that kind of stuff.

When I'm traveling by myself or just with my kids, I unpack only if I have clothes that will get wrinkled if kept folder. Most of my shirts, sweaters, and pants are fine staying in a suitcase until I wear them.

My husband is an unpacker, and he likes to empty and store suitcases so when I travel with him I unpack. On cruises, he can't really relax until our luggage has arrived and clothes have all be stored in drawers or closets.

Good point. A cruise is the only place I 💯 unpack as I just don’t have a choice due to space constraints.

While it might be a you problem, I would try to consider my travel partners when making the choices I make.

I do both... usually put some stuff in a drawer like socks /underwear/pajama... hang up some stuff.... then leave the rest in the suitcase. Dirty clothes in a pile until we leave
