Hiya fellow addicts :thumbsup2

We're considering our 4th trip this year "back home" :woohoo: (never ever thought we'd ever visit more than once a year!) in October, but we've never been at that time of year before - been in January, April, May, July, November and December previously.

I'm coming up with a bit of a Pro's and Con's list at the moment :surfweb: and wondered if the wonderful DISers :worship: could help?

What are your Pro's :thumbsup2 and Con's :sad2: for an October trip???

Thanks

:wizard:

It's a great time to go. The only con is the Halloween Party since you have to leave MK by a certain time unless you get tickets. But it's a really cute even and worth the tickets.

We love October too it's one of our favourite times to go!

Pros - food and wine festival is fab, check out the eat to the beat concerts too as they get some good acts. The halloween party is a pro for me it's a great night. Universal and Busch do great Halloween horror nights if your into that type of thing and don't have young kids. The Halloween decorations around the parks are lovely too. Apart from that it has near perfect weather and low crowds.

Cons - it is still hurricane season so it's possible you may get some bad weather (In all of our October trips I only remember the odd day here and there - no worse than any other time). If your there are half term and columbus day weekend then crowds increase slightly but still very quiet. As with all quieter seasons you may get some rides closing for refurbs.

Given a choice I will opt to go Sept/Oct every year, as a DVC member it's low on points, weather is perfect for us and crowds are low.

It's a fantastic time to go:goodvibes

The weather is beautiful - not too hot, not too cold, add to that the low crowd levels, the Halloween decorations/party, the Food and Wine festival and you can't beat it:thumbsup2

We love that time of year and go every October- so glad we get a 2 week school break to make the most of it:thumbsup2

The only con I can think of that hasn't been mentioned is you will pay more for the flights if you go for the half term holidays, if you can avoid them then you are on an alround winner.
The half term flight prices are still not as bad as the summer holidays though.

We love Sept/Oct and the weather is perfect ( unless you are unlucky with a hurricane) and the daylight hours are not too short.

My fave month, going a little later this year though, flying out on 31st oct. First time we have been in Nov.

October is our favourite time to visit. As others have said, there is the Food & Wine Festival and the Halloween parties. The weather is great, nice and hot without the humidity of July and August. We have been several time in October and can count the number of not-so-nice days on one hand. I really can't think of any cons, other than October is getting to be an increasingly popular time to visit and, certainly on the last couple of trips, we have noticed the parks are busier than they have been in previous years.

Thanks everyone.

It looks like we're making a good decision to try October.

The flight prices seem too good to be true at the moment.

Flying on Monday 8th for 10 nights from Dublin with Air France / Delta is coming out at £359 each !!!

Adding on the flight and overnight stay in Dublin takes this to around £419 each in total which is less than we usually pay.......... Wooo hoooo.

4 th trip this year....here we come !!!

I would book those flights ASAP if you haven't already. I booked Delta flights on Sat evening at £477 on Lastminute.com for next easter. All other sites were around £600, checked again this morning LM.com has increased to same as others (although there is another deal on ebookers today)
