My family was planning a trip next April, but now that the FTP has come out, I wanted to try and see what deals I can get for this year. I was thinking about October to see the MNSSHP, but I would have to take my daughter out of school for 5 days. I also could go late August (16th - 27th). Which dates are better for weather and crowds. I'm sure crowds would be worst in August, but are they 'that' bad? Weather, obviously, is hotter in August. Is it still hot enough to swim in October? Is there lots of rain in August or October?

As for hotels, we've only been once and stayed at the WL, and LOVED it. My kids are 4 and 6. We go to MK a lot. I thought about trying something new since the YC has stormalong bay, but it is far from MK. The poly seemed dark and old to us when we visited it, but we just saw the lobby. Should we go back to WL, try the YC or poly? Maybe we won't have too many options, based on availability anyways!

Any suggestions about time to go, where to stay?

Thanks for any help

I've been to WDW in late August to early September and it is hot! The crowds seem to die down towards the end of August, especially after labor day. It did rain, but when it did, it didn't last very long so it wasn't a problem for us. I have never stayed at WL or Beach Club so maybe someone else will be able to tell you about the Beach Club.

If you would like to be near the MK, would you consider the Contemporary? You can walk to the MK in approx. 10 minutes and take the monorail back since it is the first stop when you leave the MK. There are 2 pools, a playground, arcade, and the main pool has water fountains and shooting water which was a hit with our 2 year old. Our daughter enjoyed feeding the ducks on the dock and taking the boat to Ft. Wilderness.

My choice would be October. We went the last 2 weeks of August & it was very hot & crowded! We're going in October this year & from what I've read, the average high is 85 degrees :). I'd take DD out of school for 5 days at that age - I'm actually taking my DD out for 5 days and she'll be in 11th grade...it's her 16th birthday & this is her birthday gift :). She mentioned it to her school counsellor & he didn't see a problem with it. At you daughter's age it shouldn't be a problem. You'll probably get differing opinions here on this subject. I've read posts from actual teachers here who have said "go ahead, take them out of school & enjoy the trip" & others who have said "how can you possibly think your child can make up the time missed". It's a personal decision but as I said, unless your child has difficulties at school...I'd do it :).

As for resorts, WL would be my choice for the convenience to MK. SAB is definitely nice but at the ages of your kids I think they'd enjoy any pool as long as it had a slide & had water in it ;). If you like to go to MK a lot, the convenience of WL is worth it. Plus there are more places to eat than at the BC (the one down side for us when we stayed there).
