October HRH, PBH rates

when i called yesterday, was told no super saver rates for my time period.
the ss ends on oct 8th, i check in on the 8th.

tm at the hotel also told me they doubt they will release ss rates for october this year as rooms are booking up quickly now months out....

yes, it would be wonderful to have the ss extended while i am there but was told not to count on it.

whatever the case, i already booked in january and used the AAA for a decent discount

Hi Mac,

I wonder if the online hotel booking engines have requested more rooms than normal during October, which is making the hotels appear to more booked. Looking out at Travelocity during my dates (Oct 7 - 11), I'm seeing AAA rates available at PBH for $258.40/ night. Unfortunately, because Travelocity is considered a 3rd party, YouFirst priveledges aren't available.

That could easily be one of the reasons.
The travel agencies take up blocks of rooms and release them back to the hotel before the cancellation dates if they do not sell them.

they don't want to have to pay for rooms they can't book.
they would lose money.

i made an error in one post.
i just found out that the release date of the blocks of rooms is a week out.
once it is 6 days out, you lose one day of the money back. penalties start then.

when i first tried to book pbh, it was for the free platinum upgrade to a suite at the standard room price.
their suites are not available for my dates.
therefore, i went with rpb and will get the king suite.
also with that i will receive the $100 food and beverage credit.

the more i think about it, i know i will enjoy rph more than i would at pbh.
more dining places at and near rph that i like.

Well of course you will! You will be in the same hotel as my group!

This time, it will just be me and DH. I was looking at a king club room but I can't rationalize that rate to DH.....even with AAA. :sad2: It makes me nervous to book the room and stress about watching for a ss rate....I'm a chicken at heart and can't take it! :guilty:

Book it now! It'll be more stressful when no rooms are available for the dates you plan to visit! If you can't afford club, do what we do: book a standard room and then purchase a cooler and fill it with water and soda from the grocery store.

Ok. :worship:
