October Dates F&W

are there any particular dates (days or weeks) that are less busy for DVC reservations during the F&W fest?

we are waiting for our new member points to be loaded into the system so i cant yet make ressies. we are pretty flexible with our dates, resort and accommodations (would prefer a studio to save points, but have enough to go up to 1 bedroom). also willing to do split stay if needed, again - prefer not to, but not big deal.

is there a certain timeframe that i will have "more" booking choices from when i call MS? i know due to the late time frame a lot of dates are already taken.

I believe that all F&W dates are equally busy. If there are any waitlists for rooms, those will expire at either 30 or 7 days from check-in. If someone was to cancel 30 days or less from check-in, those points become restricted so many will try to cancel 31 days or more from check-in.

In general, friday nights, saturdays & sundays are the busiest time, as locals will tend to show up then.

That's what I was going to say. In addition though, the EPCOT resorts & BLT followed by VWL would book up first. If I was going to WL, I'd choose SSR, OKW or AKV for my WL(s) since it's so close and it's F&W.

Also the first weekend is the marathon and 40th anniversary.

We have tried to go almost every October since 2003. In 2006 we were able to book BWV's for our whole stay, but have not had luck since. I dont like to wait list, and I am not a fan of moving half way through our vacation. With that being said, we have never had a problem getting a ressie at SSR/OKW/AKV's during this time, and that is booking at the 7month window.

As for when...as DVCConvert stated, I would definitely go during the week (M-TH) unless you dont mind crowds. I prefer going during the week, and they still work up a decent crowd - I do check to see what bands are playing the week I am there, but usually we end up going on a Tuesday/Wed and have had very good times!!

Love the F&W fest, we love October in WDW! F&W, Halloween Party, PGA Tour Golf event, it is an amazing time to go (but when isnt it at WDW)

It sounds like you are fairly flexible. The most difficult resorts to get into for the F&W are BCV and BWV. I have had good luck before on making last minute reservations in October. We stayed at SSR and OKW.

I don't mind the weekends when EPCOT is very very busy. I do however like arriving on a Wednesday or Thursday if I am going for the weekend.
