October crowds/weather?

What is October like around the 14th-17th (Fall Break here in 2010)? Crowds and weather?

We are debating on whether to take a trip during this time, pull DD out of school in Sept., or pulling her out for her birthday (days around Dec. 5th). We are looking at a 4 day trip, maybe more depending on when we go. Thing is, we would like to start TTC next Fall but I want to take a trip before I get pregnant, so that would push TTC back. I know this is a personal decision...more of a "When would YOU go?" kind of question. This is for 2010.

September (unsure of what week):
Pros: FREE DINING! The earliest possible time, which would mean we could TTC earlier :)
Cons: Would have to pull her out of school (1st grade) for a few days...which is fine as far as the school district goes - it would just be in the beginning of the school year and I hope that would be okay.

October 14-17th:
Pros: Would go during Fall Break.
Cons: Possibly a busy time at WDW (not sure)??

Week of December 5th:
Pros: I am obsessed with Christmas and this would be my favorite time of the year to go based on all the decorations and parades, etc. Would also have her birthday there so wouldn't have to worry about a birthday party so close to Christmas.
Cons: Would have to postpone TTC till after this, which is a LONG time from now!! But I guess it's not much of a difference than the other months?? Would have to take her out of school, which is really not a problem especially with it being the middle of the year...so not really a con.

Help! LOL

BTW, I added a lot of details since I made the subject line and have no idea how to change it to make it more about what I actually wrote about...

October is our FAVORITE time to go!! The weather is usually really nice, around 80s and a little cooler at night. Plenty hot enough to swim! The crowds are moderate, not crazy, but not super slow!

We love it! Have fun!!

Thanks Fall1! I added some details after you posted though so hopefully you will see them!

Come on guys! 44 views and only 1 response?

Another thing to factor in is that after this trip we probably won't go again for 2+ years due to having a baby.

been there in july-never again.
been there in oct-warm , nice at night, good crowds
been there first week in dec- FABULOUS! needed a lite jkt in the morning, midday got to middle 70's, and evening was cool, very little crowd. our favorite time to go. plus everything is all decorated forxmas which makes great photos..

Well...I've been in Mid Sept and all I can say is HOT and HUMID! Crowds were ok but heavier than I expected probably due to free dining. I was such a newbie then I didn't even get to take advantage of the free dining! Also Hurricanes were huge that year and made the trip a bit nerve wracking!

This past year we went first 2 weeks in Dec and it was fabulous but it was a bit cold for swimming. I loved the decorations and the weather was great although packing was a bit of a pain as we had to pack for a variety of weather.

My son has school breaks early Oct and think we'll probably do that for our next trip. Hoping crowds aren't terrible and weather cooled a bit!

I think if I were you Oct would be my choice! Go during break (maybe you can extend the trip and go a couple of extra days?). This puts you TTC a bit earlier. Hopefully the crowds won't be terrible and the weather shouldn't be too hot but still warm enough to swim. My 2nd choice would be early Dec but that'd put off TTC a while. Although I also planned a lot of my TTC around when I wanted the baby to be born. I didn't want the last months of my pregnancy during the heat! Although not sure I'm 100% sold on a fall baby with the school issue and when to start!!!

Good luck...I'm sure you'll have a great time whenever you go!!!

We were there last October during the Columbus Day week. The crowds were not too bad, very manageable. The weather was nice, not to hot.

I guess we liked that time of year because we will be there again this year starting on October 15th.

I definitely vote for October...been there several times in Oct & again this year and the weather & crowds were perfect. Went a few years back in mid-Sept...NEVER again! We were all SO hot, sweaty & miserable that no one had a great time. The crowds were horrible & waiting in those long lines in that humidity was NOT fun. JMHO...Best wishes!

Thanks for the replies everyone!

I talked with DH and we have decided on December! It will give us more time to save up for doing everything we want on the trip and we will get to enjoy the festivities going on at that time! I'm so excited even though it is over a year away!
