October Check in - Halloween and more

We'll be at Paradise Pier concierge October 30 & 31 and already have our tickets for Mickeys Not So Scary.....for Halloween. :woohoo::woohoo:

Forgive my ignorance but is ToT the abbreviation for Tower of Terror and why do you need advance tickets? Is something special going on during the Halloween season?

Thanks in advance.

The party at DCA is called Mickey's Trick or Treat Party, so sometimes people on here will use the acronym TOT, referring to Trick or Treat......or TOT party. People are referring to tickets for the party when they say TOT tickets. (The party isn't called Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party at DCA......only at WDW).

If all goes as planned, we'll most likely be there Oct. 21-22 to celebrate my birthday.

aaaahhh, now I get it. Thanks for setting me straight. And I thought I was so smart going to Hydroguys' abbreviatiions before posting. Turns out I confused myself.....which isn't hard:rotfl:

We'll be there Oct 9-12 celebrating DD's 12th b-day. Staying at Hilton Garden Inn.

Totally understandable confusion. There have been similiar question about this on this board and other boards because of what TOT usually stands for, so you are not alone. And, you are smart for looking at Hydroguy's threads. There is SO much information there that it is a great thing to do when starting out on this board. What day will you be attending the Trick or Treat party?

We've switched hotels.

Our new dates are October 27 to November 7, but at the PPH. :dance3:

So I have an update on the costumes situation at my house. I have mentioned before that my DD14 can go as a cowgirl, but I didn't know what my DD11 will wear. Well my older DD suggested to the younger that she try on her Christmas Belle costume. Well if fits! And she looks so beautiful in it. Whew got that worked out and I don't have to scramble at the last minute to come up with something!

Hi All

We are heading over to Disneyland from Sydney Australia and will be there from 18th - 25th October. There will be me, hubby, my 2.5 year old daughter and my mum. We are staying at the Carousel Inn and Suites. Its getting closer now so its getting pretty exciting, plus its our first trip overseas.

Can i ask what kind of weather we can expect at that time of year and will the parks be super crowded?

I was also wondering how essential PS are? I am planning on making them for the 2 character breakfasts we want to go to, but with a tempremental 2.5 year old i am not sure how things will be. I guess i think it will be hard to plan cause who knows how jetlag will affect her, will she be overwhelmed etc.

Hubby just wants to play by ear and see how she is but i am worried that if we just show up at places we may miss out...

Anyway hope to chat with you all more, i am really excited about being there for the lead up to halloween as it is not really celebrated in Oz so it will be fun to see it in all its glory

*waves* Welcome to the fun!

It's been unsual hot most of the time in October. But last year it got that chilly in the morning and evening for a couple of days that I ended up buying a sweater in the parks - which is now one of my most treasuered shirts anyway, so it was worth that much money.

I keep hearing the parks get more crowded in October, but I really didn't think it was too bad - I've been going end of October/beginning of November since 2006. We had a 20 minute wait on Nemo one day in the afternoon last October, maybe that counts to meassure for "how crowded is it?" ;)
I definitely would not call it super crowded, not even on Halloween itself.

I like to make PS. But I am a single adult traveler, so it's different for me.

I don't think PS absolutely necessary though. If you're prepared to possibly switch plans if necessary - like dinner at Ariel's instead of lunch - you will be fine. I'd probably still make them hoping your daughter will be fine, it's always easier to cancel than to get in last minute. ;)

We switched our plans last minute one day and still got a PS at Goofy's 2 hours later, and at our last night they gave us a PS for about 30 minutes later when my room mate went to check if there was any chance that we could have dinner.

What were the the meals you were looking at?

Thanks to the fall $400 dollar off 4 night stay promo and Costco Travel we will now be staying on site at PPH. We are booked October 5th to the 9th at PPH (previously staying at America's Best on Ketella) and will be doing the ToT party on October 8th!
We are very excited about our first on site stay at DLR!

Vala have you done any trip reports during your Oct/Nov trips?? We too will be there end of Oct - Nov and I was wondering about the wait times in more detail. Was your Nemo wait the longest? That doesn't seem bad to me at all.

We have now changed our dates for the 4th time. We will be staying at the VGC still but now we are going to be there 4 more days (sadly though we have used all our points for next year too but hey atleast our first trip using the DVC program will be one to remember). I can't wait to see the Villas???

No, unfortunately I never got around to doing trip reports. They're always on my to do list and never make it to the top. ;)

TSMM was the only ride I remember having a longer wait than Nemo. But the single rider line was open. I used that one and had not even a 5 minute wait.

I think I also saw Space Mountain, Splash and Indy with stand by times for 35 and 45 minutes over the actual Halloween weekend. But I can't ride those, so I really don't know for sure.

The wait for the parade on Halloween seemed the worst to me. I arrived an hour beforehand and could barely find a seat on the curb.

Thanks for the info Vala - I am hoping for atleast one good week, I am sure that Veterans day week will get busier but I am hoping after Halloween will be good. :thumbsup2

We just made some reservations for Oct 13-17th at the VGC. Had to cancel 12 nights in a treehouse at WDW so we needed to burn some points up so Halloween here we come.:wizard:

Sorry to hear you had to cancel your THV. Hope you enjoy your VGC stay, you beat us there by a day.

We booked a last minute trip for 10/15 - 10/20 staying at PPH. It will be me, my wife and our 3 boys (4,7,8). This is our first time staying at PPH and we're really excited. This will be our 3rd trip to DLR, since going for the first time last October. :woohoo:

I, too, want to own at VGC, but we decided that 800 points is enough for now, maybe we will be able to add more later!

Well KKbeaton2, I guess dreams do come true. My DH came home last Monday and declared that his business is improving and is almost close to the level of earnings as last year. He then said, "Go ahead and buy VGC points" I just couldn't believe it! I called my guide the next day and bought 160 points! I just got the paperwork. It gets better. I called to book a room for the opening and I got a one bedroom for Sept. 23rd. I am still in disbelief. I am walking on cloud nine. I am going to VGC for two consecutive months in a row. (to thank DH, only he and I are going to the opening. The kids will stay with grandma) :yay::cheer2::banana:

We will be staying at the Crowne Plaza from October 25 to October 30, 2009. We have always just barely missed the Halloween activities in prior visits and we are excited to finally get to see them!!!

Hey Ya'll,
I'm sorry I haven't been able to do an update. I know everyone is so excitted about their halloween trips. It's great to get to share in this fun.:goodvibes

I'm updating the list now.. so you should see your trip info on it. If not, when I get back in town I'll fix it.:upsidedow
