Anyone have any good deals for the first week october car rental?

We're going oct 4-10

My dates are later than yours - Oct 28 - Nov 4.

:scared1: My best rate is with Dollar. I have $185. It think this is still expensive, but what can we do?????? :scared1:

I used Corporate # oi1054 (Orlando visitors bureau)
and Promo code: KISS2

If anyone has anything better I would love to know.

I found a better rate (only slightly better) with Thrifty. It is still $173.06

I used the code from the Orlando Magic Card web-site
Corporate Code# 004M001010

Check Alamo's and National's last minute rate now just to see what's available. Next week the last minute deals should extend to Oct 4.

October 3-10 here and the short answer is no. 2 1/2 weeks away and I'm really beginning to lose hope that I will snatch a great rate last minute. I'm sitting with Advantage at $170 (has since gone way up) and Thrifty at $209 because I'm really not sure I want to go off site to get the car. I agree with Sympatico though, I'm crossing my fingers that the Alamo/national last minute rates may help. I'm assuming theMorgans are renting a compact car at those rates? My rates are for a mid-sized (car seat and a heavy packing wife:headache:).

Unfortunately rates are outrageous. We're down Oct 7-17th and our rate with National is $206/week for a mid-size. That rate hasn't changed since we booked it in June. We're also hoping for a last minute rate that'll bring our rate down somewhat.

I have a rate of 102/wk from Advantage for a midsize car on our trip 10/8 - 10/18. I will attempt to get an even better deal with Priceline as I get a little closer.

I haven't even booked yet for the 2nd week in October, everything I am finding is upwards of $400 for 9 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hopefully I can still actually get a car!

Both Hotwire and Priceline seem to have good deals starting around a week-to nine days out. I have one already reserved for Oct 2 but I think I will get a much better rate in another 7-10 days.

I got a great rate from Thrifty. I used the corporate code 004m001010 and got a rate of $148/wk for a mid-size for a grand total of $378 for 14 days. This includes an additional driver and unlimited miles. The code was from the orland magic card. I download the free card just to have in case I need it. I don't think I'll do much better then that. I was expecting to pay around $500 for a midsize for 2 weeks. I might do the upgrade to full size for $90.00.

Sometimes with Dollar you will get a better rate without using any code. I have found that to be true almost all the time. Right now looking at Dollar for a week beginning Sept. 25 (no code) I get a base rate of $111.00.

You can try National with contract ID 3715444.

Don't forget to sign up to their club program for possible upgrade and skip the line.

Unfortunately that code gives me the same price as what I've currently got booked.

Just out of curiosity, where is that link from?? When you click on the link, it indicates "As a Car & Driver employee, get a free Emerald Club membership and bonus miles." ... so beware to anyone who uses that link to sign up. :sad2:

There is a free EC membership link on Mousesavers.com

Alamo has extended its last minute rates. Check them out.

Thanks, getting closer but still not quite far enough out for me. When they said through October 6th, is that your return date or can it just be the start date of the rental?

You would need to pick up by the 6th. My dates are 10/3-10/10, I was able to get an intermediate car for $186.30. Not a great rate but it is about as low as I've seen. Combine that with the ability to use the kiosk (which I love) and it is a no-brainer.

Thanks! I am 3 days short now, if they could just extend them a little longer I can live with those prices. A few hundred less than what I'm finding now.

Unfortunately you'll need to sweat it out another week. Alamo extends the last-minute deals on Tuesdays.
