October Bride - Planning Journal

We are actually doing 1900 park fare the day after the wedding for breakfast with our families!:)

our plans are going well, i feel like we havent done anything for ages! we are happy with the BEO so that kinda feels like thats it! we have just over 3 months to go and its zooming by so fast! still saving hard for it though so thats worrying us with the dollar changing all the time!

is your cake on the cd? dont remember seeing that name, thats such a good price for 3 tiers, we have the 2 tier mad hatter at the moment but I wish we had a 3rd tier just for another flavour!

We booked before the free dining so we are gutted about that! I'm hoping it comes out again next year for our anniversary trip!

Your meal sounds lovely! we are not having the dessert but my sister who is 12 and the only child is having the slipper dessert!

Are you not having a dessert party?

Tell me about it (saving) as much as I am looking forward to the wedding I am also looking forward to not saving for a while

We have been lucky, when we went over in March we changed most of out Disney money into dollars so we got $2 to £1. I think we have got about $1000 left to pay so that has saved us a little bit.

yes the cake is on the CD, its got little ummm bubbles I suppose is the best way to describe the little circles all over the cake. We are having it in white.

The mad hatter cakes are so cool but DF wanted something plain and non Disney.....how weird is that!!:confused3

The slipper desert is lovely and it was the one thing I would not compromise on. Well that's not true, Cinderella's coach was another but I changed my mind on that one, brides prerogative and all that!!!

No desert party for us. We don't get married till 5pm and I am having my hen night at the illuminations with half of the wedding party so.....we are staying at the Whitehall room to dance the night away. I am lucky ALL of our guests are great fun so I am sure we will have a good night with lots of cheesy music being blasted on the ipod!!!:woohoo:

all sounds fantastic, i cant wait till ours!! not long now

Hi Everyone

I have not been around for a little while so i thought i would do some updating.
I have added some pictures below which you may have seen on another thread, if you have seen them before i am sorry!!

I am so sorry about the silly face i am pulling here!! I have to say these dress pictures must be the worst photo's of me ever!!!

So what have i been up to wedding wise???

Well i have changed the ribbon on the bridesmaids dresses. My dress is white and i causing all types of problems. The cream sash that was on the bridesmaids dresses when i got them looks brown next to my dress so i have purchased some off white ribbon. To be honest it is for the best as it is a nightmare trying to tie the bows!!!
The ribbon is a couple of inches wide and will by pinned together with a brooch on the girls left hip.
My friends mum is going to add some more netting to the bridesmaids underskirts so that it gives them a little more volume which i think should look lovely, fingers crossed!!!

I have purchased the flower girls dresses as well now. I will take a picture and get them posted. I did not have much choice as they needed to be bright white like my dress but i have been very lucky as they ones i liked were white yippee

With the wedding getting closer we have two more guests coming which has taken us over our 40 max for whitehall room but Diane has been great and said no problem as three of our guests are in high chairs, few, that was a close one but we have now had to shut the door on any more guests coming!!!
That gives us a total of 42 now which will be loevly. i am so touched by the amount of people coming all the way from the UK, Malta and Netherlands....bless :cloud9: :lovestruc

I have sat down and worked out a limo plan which will enable all my guests to be collected from POFQ and delivered to GF within our 2hr limo hire so i am really chuffed about that :cool1:

I have also started putting a plan together for the morning of our wedding. My DF and his guys are all going to play pitch and put :dance3:
The girls and i are going to go to the GF spa in the morning and then lunch at Park Fare 1900 then we will be off to get ready

When i start sorting out things like this it makes me realise just how close the wedding is getting!!!

Oooh, just realised! 1 month to go... :goodvibes

Hiya October Bride,:bride:

Thought i would send you a message, i am getting married in October 2009 and i also live in the uk! :yay: i am getting so excited for you reading all your bits and bobs. However i think i might have missed quite a bit. where you getting married? who did you book with? where you having your reception? the food looked gorgeous where is that? sorry about all the questions!!:flower3:

Your dress is gorgeous!!!:goodvibes

I am getting married at the swan and dolphin and then having a BBQ buffet in the evening and am hoping to see the epcot fireworks that night. :cheer2:

I can not book until a year out so i am counting down the days:banana:

How have you gone about organsing all your guests getting there and the accomodation?

Any information you could give me would be great, i have only been to disney once and that was years ago.

Thanks

Jen

Hi Jen

sorry about the gaps, time is flying by and i have not had a chance to do everything.

Our wedding is a DFTW so slightly different to yours with your being at the swan and Dolphin. We are having a wishes wedding.
We are getting married at the wedding pavilion at 5pm on 1st October. Our reception is then help at the whitehall room at the grand floridian so we can watch the wishes fireworks after dinner without having to move locations.

I hated having to wait to book but it feels great once you do, a word of warning, the year will fly by. Do not put things off - keep organised and start things ASAP as the days just seem to vanish :confused3

In regards to our guests. You can leave them to sort themselves out but we decided to help them as otherwise we would of just been bombarded with questions etc.
We got a few options together, staying at different disney property hotels, staying in villa or at cheaper areas such as international drive. Everyone wanted to stay in same hotel as us so that was simple - don't get me wrong some people have moved to a villa but that was no problem.
We have all booked with travel city direct and those of us staying at the disney hotel have got free disney dining which is great

A DFTW is a little different to yours as we have to fill 25 nights at a disney hotel but i don't think you will have that problem.

If you have any questions at all just ask away, you can PM me if it is easier, i am more than happy to help
Shian

Thanks for the info Shian,

That's has helped me out!Its nice to know what your doing and especially with the guests.

I think we are going to stay in a couple of villas and then me and matt are going to stay at the swan and dolphin the wedding night and then a couple of nights in some of the disney hotels..to get a bit of time on our own.

I am thinking of sending information packs with the invites to give people an idea of how much it will cost to help them to decide whether they can make, i think i will send them out soon to avoid people booking holidays for next year!! When did you send out your invites?

Are you have a party back home?

When we went to florida a few years back, there was a lot of travel city people on our flight...they do really good deals!:thumbsup2

Yeah with the swan and dolphin you do not need to stay there, i received an email back today from the swan and dolphin saying i still need to wait until October to book it...i was trying to get in a bit earlier. The good thing is my date is still free, fingers crossed no ones else books it before i do!! i am ringing on the 1st of October:laughing:

We are having a bbq buffet and then i am hoping to see the epcot fireworks from the swan and dolphin apparently you can see them from the beach!

I am going to be really organised...hopefully!!:surfweb:

Take care

Thanks for the info

Jen

xx:cheer2:

Yes you will be able to see the fireworks, i love the swan and dolphin. We wanted to stay there but it does not count as a disney room for our minimum nights for booking the wedding.

I would Send the Disney invites out now, all you need to send is a save the date card.

What we actually did was discussed it with everyone but did not send out invites. We did not choose bridesmaids, ushers, best men etc until the holidays were booked (luckily eveyone we wanted were coming) and deposits paid as we did not want to put any pressure on anyone to come - we would of been happy on own with parents as that is what we thought it would be. I sound very ungrateful (honest i am not it means the world to me that so many people are coming) i know but we really did not want anyone to feel they had to come as disney is not everyone's cup of tea (until they go then you get hooked:rotfl: )
Once we knew who was coming we booked their holidays for them and that was it. Don't get me wrong you will still have a few people drop out.
Going to Disney is not cheap so people really did appreciate the years notice honey.

Yes we are having a big shin dig when we get back. We are getting concerned as we have 178 people confirmed so far....:scared1:
but we just want one big party, not to many formalities if you know what i mean.
We have booked a function room at the local golf/country club/hotel.
We have gone for a vegas type theme as that is where we would love to go for a honeymoon but after the cost of the wedding that is on hold:confused3

So we have a rat pack singer to wonder around the room singing, we have some full size casino tables and croupiers (not sure how to spell:rotfl2: ), we have fab decorations loads and loads of flowers everywhere (sounds expensive but my mum's a florist so as cheap as chips for me) a disco and Karaoke for the wee small hours.
Food wise we did not want a formal sit down buffet (and we don't have enough seats for everyone :rotfl: ) so we have gone for cheeseburgers, hot dogs and pizza slices being served at about 11pm when everyone is despate for some junk food due to the alcohol levels
Tacky i know but we just want it to be super fun and relaxed.

We have gone for an evening dress for our guests. We hold a charity ball each summer and the one thing everyone including the men get excited about is dressing up so.........they are all getting dolled up to the nines.:yay:

Myself and all the wedding party will be wearing our dresses and suits so the grandparents etc get to see us and take photos etc.

I can remember this time last year, being in your shoes and just being so excited. I think i blew my budget on magazines along :headache:

Honest if i can help in anyway just let me know.

I have been to disney way over a dozen times so far and have stayed all over so if i can help i will.

Have fun planning you lucky thing

Take care
Shian

Shian, your plans sound amazing!!! And your UK reception sounds like the best party ever!!

The GF meal and fireworks plans sounds perfect and so romantic!! :) Is wishes a much bigger expense than an escape wedding?

Jenni, its great to hear about more UK brides!! You're lucky you can book soon! I'm 2011! End of 2010 if I push it, so I can't book for aaages!! Lol.

:)

Thanks so much Shian, I really appreciate all you help!

Whats your email address? I will email you then!

For the wishes wedding you have to spend a min $10000 before taxes etc. I think out total bill was $13000. This includes the wedding pavilion, harse and carraige, limo meals for 36 people, disco, free bar for all guests and an hour expention on party. So loads more than you would get here :cheer2:

Book soon, we leave in two weeks, i am getting married three weeks today :rotfl:

I noticed a question of your, how many invites to rsvp's etc. We had 60 people coming to start with. Holidays were booked for 41 and and 36 are coming......i hope that helps.

If you any questions at all please just let me know.

Welcome back!! I can't wait to read your TR!

Hello and Congratulations!!! :yay:

I just saw your beautiful pics, so I had to read all your PJ in one go to see how you got such a gorgeous wedding. I can't believe your BEO was so low, I'm hoping to keep mine around $12000, but I was sure we'll go over with all the things we want, but seeing yours has restored faith!

I just wanted to ask how loud the ipod was? I want to use the ipod, but my mum is worried that the music won't be loud enough to dance to?
