October anyone?

All by myself and camping @ Fort Wilderness in a rented tent (CMs put it up -- how sweet is that?!?). Plan to hit the F&W festival but am still debating MNSSHP. In reading this board, I'm getting more excited by the minute. :teeth:

how do you manage that????

Since I am going to take more trips solo - this might be fun - okay I need an air mattress but I can bring one.

I just this week decided - going Oct 20 to 27 - offsite - vacation villa at parkway - my first time there.

You'll be leaving the day we arrive. I am looking so forward to the F&WF!

As for the tent...at FW how do you find out about renting a tent? I have always wanted to stay at FW but I don't own a tent anymore nor do I want to drive to Orlando and bring everything. What else do they provide besides the tent?

Sorry I'm gonna miss you! I have never been to the Food & Wine Festival and am really looking forward to it.
The tents are $33.75/night in addition to the camp space rental. I went ahead and popped for a "preferred" site for $148.00 for three nights with a AAA discount. Soooo... by my math, that means, I'm gonna be paying a grand total of $83.09/night.
I'm thinking that that is pretty close to the cost per night at one of the Value Pops but fact of the matter is -- I totally love the beauty and peacefulness of Fort Wilderness and from what I've read on the DIS boards here, I don't think I'd get my full Disney Fix @ the Pops (and BOY! Do I ever need it!!!) -- although they sound great for a family with kids. :)
Since it's only me, I'm not gonna do any cooking at the campsite -- basically just sleep there. Obviously, if someone wanted to cook, they could save a lot more money. Wegoshop.com is a great grocery delivery service -- when DD, her BF, and I stayed in a FW cabin last January, I was very pleased with the service I rec'd. from this company.
Here is the Disney phone number to rent a tent (warning -- I have heard they are pretty basic): 1.407.939.7807 -- you will want to select option #4 for group camping -- which seems odd but at least it worked for me. I understand they also have folding cots for $5/night but I'm gonna bring my inflatable bed with me, along with towels, an itty bitty TV, collapsable camping chair, etc in my checked luggage.
This is VERY MUCH an experiment for me but I think if the weather's reasonably OK, it'll be fine. (And it sure beats the $248/night I was gonna spend at one of the cabins) Hope this helps!

Thanks so much for the info Sue B. I hope you have a wonderful time and I can't wait to hear all about your experience. I think camping at WDW would be so much fun! I have only been to WDW once during the F&WF and it was with other family members who were not intertested at all and so we didn't spend much time there. This time I will be traveling with my 17 yo DD and her friend and I am planning to spend some alone time at the F&WF taking it all in! popcorn::

Have a great time!

That sounds amazing. Please take some pictures of the tent and post them--I would love to see what Disney does with a campsite with tents.

Have a great time!

DD and I will be there for our yearly Halloween/Birthday pilgrimage. :cool1:

Just decided today to go in October. Leaving the 14th for 5 nights. ALL BY MYSELF! No kids, no grandson, no DH, no dogs, no work, no nothing. Just me. I'm so excited (but a little scared at the same time-I just realized I've never been on a vacation by myself!)!!!!!

I've done about four solo trips in the past year and a half or so. You are going to have a BLAST. You get to do what you want, when you want, for however long you want.
I'll be there about the same time as you on another solo. Currently I have a reservation from the 14th-16th at All Star Movies. Trying to swing the 13th to the 15th, though but not having much luck. This was a last minute trip (yesterday ~ha) but I do usually try to make it to Food and Wine every year.

If you have any questions PM me.

...thinking about heading down for the Saturday before Halloween (the 28th.) Anyone want to close down Pleasure Island with me? pirate:

I have been to Disney by myself and I found I was able to do all the things I never go to do. Pick up a Hidden Mickey's book and this will keep you busy for days.
