Well I had to get up early to get dh up to catch a flight. After he left I got on DCL's website to look at our reservation and decided to do our online forms. It's so much easier then doing all those handwritten forms like we did back last year. Now I'm really ready to go!!!!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc
I'll get all the forms filled out and forget to print the signature form!

We are doing the Stingray City Observatory and Island Tour on Grand Cayman. Maybe some shopping in Cozumel, not sure.

WHOA! Finally skimmed all 422 posts! You guys are a crazy, fun :thumbsup2 bunch! Thanks for the warm welcome. We decided on this cruise on a whim. It was between Beaches Turks & Caicos, Carnival cruise to the Mexican Riviera or Disney cruise. I'm surprised we're able to make reservations still!

ALLEN: I'll email you our info for the list in the next day or two. We still have stuff to iron out.

QUESTION: Which Radissen hotel are you all staying at? We'll be flying in Friday morning and would love to stay there too.

Thanks!

We're wondering if Disney will let us stay on CC from 10/06 till you get there?
Wouldn't that be great :cool1:

I'm impressed! You read all the post and you came back!! :rotfl2: Some of us are staying at the Radisson at the Port. They have a free shuttle to and from the ship. For those of us who drive, they have free cruise parking. If you make a ressie at the Radisson, you must call the hotel direct to make a shuttle ressie. The sooner you get to the port, the sooner you get on the ship. :thumbsup2

That would be cool. However, I hear that the insects are unbelievable after dark. That is supposedly why the ship leaves before dark. :confused3 Maybe if you stayed on the Flying Dutchman it wouldn't be to bad.... :teeth:
BTW, this is my 400th post on the DIS!!! That means I spend way to much time here! :lmao:

:wave2: Hi Barbara, and welcome (officicially) to the boards. Glad to see your joining us for the cruise. We're doing the Fury Sail in Cozumel. Disney cruise cast members told me that one is very popular and usually fill up early. Also you might want to see if your teen sons would be interested in the Wild Side at Castaway Cay. I have twin sons turning 14 on the cruise and I have them signed up for that one. Of course they don't know about it yet because they don't even know we are going on a cruise. :rotfl2: They have never been on a cruise and I know they will be ecstatic about both being on a cruise and the Wild Side excursion when they find out about it.

Sharon
Hello everyone and thanks for the warm welcome! :)

Sharon - That is sooo funny that you haven't told your twin teens about the cruise! There are many things I "spring" on mine at the last minute but we have been talking to them non-stop about this trip (obviously we are more excited than the boys!) and I am happy to report they are also quite anxious for Oct. 7th!

I have been reading about the Wild Side excursion as well and am thinking about signing them up. I was hoping it didn't fill up and that they could decide once they are on board if they wanted to do it. I also didn't know how many teen boys there would be on the cruise so I didn't want to commit them until I knew they would have friends to do it with. I am happy to hear about your sons! I am also looking forward to seeing the cruise list to check out the ages of other kids and hoping there will be 12 yr. old girls for my dd. She is VERY unhappy that her brothers can go to the Stack and she is "stuck" in the lab - but I'm sure she will love it once she is there. :confused3

Less than 60 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PS In regard to the posts about transportation and Budget Rental - we also are going with Budget - much cheaper with the 5 of us. On the way there it was a great price (around $45.00) from MCO but when we return to the port after the cruise the price jumped to over $85.00. Does anyone know if any of the other agencies are cheaper at the port? Thanks!

mousemo - that's weird about the pricing jumping up with budget. We got almost the same price each way. It was off by like a dollar or two. Did you sign up for their fastback/rapidrez no? We got it cheaper when signing up too. It's free to sign up. Plus when you get to MCO you can go straight out to the cars and not stop at their main desk. You do still have to stand in line at the PC office.

Daisy - no, we didn't sign up for fastback/rapidrez on the website - I will go back and do that and see if it affects my rate. Thanks for the tip because it sure will be nice to go straight to the car in MCO - we don't get in until 9:35pm on Friday and then we are driving to the Residence Inn at the port. It will obviously get quite late but I would rather be at the port and not have to worry about traffic/getting lost/etc. on Saturday. I am hoping to be in our room by 11:00ish but of course that is in a perfect world! :rotfl:

A question to everyone - have any of you tried to do a theme park after leaving the cruise/before your flight home on that same Saturday and were you able to do it or was it too rushed? Our flight doesn't leave until 7:50pm on the 14th so I was thinking of getting advance Universal tickets and trying to do the park that day. I figured we could just do the continental breakfast from topsiders and be one of the first off the ship. My dh could grab the Budget shuttle and bring a car back to port, pick us up and hopefully we could get to Universal by 9:30am. :car: The park closes at 5:00 that day for a special night time Halloween celebration so we could stay until closing and then I figured we would be at the airport by 6:30ish. I knew we could never do a Disney park in that little time but we have never done Universal (we did Islands of Adventure a few years ago) and I thought this way we wouldn't be so sad getting off the ship! :confused3 But after reading many posts on these boards it doesn't look like people try to do a park before a flight - any thoughts on this? Thanks so much!

As our sail date is fastly approaching I am actually starting to put together a cruise pile for packing! Normally I am never so organized and of course I will still be finishing the day before but it is actually fun to be putting water shoes, snorkel gear, etc. into a bag in the closet rather than starting to pack the stuff away as Fall approaches. It makes the end of summer so much easier to accept, doesn't it? :beach:

Hi tross, ...Come out, come out where ever you are. :rotfl2: More fellow Tennesseeans!!! We just might take over the ship this time. :teeth: I got your pm and have added you to the list. Jump in and join us. :surfweb: Waiting for info from eyeronic to mail out new list. :teeth:

Ahoy there mates! :wave2: I've checked this thread out a couple of times but wanted to read the posts before posting. You've been busy posters and I can't find enough time to catch up. Now I can't remember if I've posted or not. Either way I wanted to say hi. Just sent our info to Allen. The August Creep has infected our school system and we've been back in school all week so now we're really ready for a vacation. :tigger:

I finally sent our info to Allen. :surfweb: Can't wait to see the list! We're still trying to think of Pirate names. pirate:

We seriously booked this at the last minute. I'm embarrassed to say. Um...TODAY! :rotfl: DH booked our cruise on the phone with DCL b/c he had trouble booking online. :badpc: We're totally splurging. It's our 5-year wedding anniversary and we haven't taken a major vacation/trip in 3 years! We deserve it, right? ::yes::

Catch you all later!

mousemo and other driving to the port - remember your toll money for the way to the port. I think we spent $3 total for one way last year but it was not several toll booths. I just made sure I had a bunch of $1 bills on me to pay tolls then I used them on the ship for tipping room service.

mousemo - last sept we didn't do a park but we went to downtown disney for a while after the cruise. It was had alot of fun. We got there at like 945 or 10am and that was with eating at parrot cay for breakfast. This year we plan on going there again. Our flight back to atlanta is at like 650pm.

:welcome: aboard!! I don't think you have posted here before, but I'm too lazy to go back through all the post and look... :teeth: I got your info and have updated the list. I will mail it out today. I think our schools have been open for 2 weeks now?? :teacher: Is that right teachers?? I'm sure they are ready for a vacation already!

I got your info as well. It will be included on the list to be mailed today. No need to be embarrassed about booking a vacation. I couldn't imagine going 3 years without a vacation. Everytime we decide to "stay at home this year", we just can't stand it and wind up going to the beach somewhere! Sure you deserve it.

I usually put a roll of quarters in the console for the trip. We come down I75 to the Florida Turnpike to Orlando, then accross the Beeline Expressway to the port. Both ways, it eats up the most of a roll.

Hi,

The cruise is coming closer and closer and I'm starting to wonder....are we going to be the only europeans on the ship?????( except for the captain and half the staff on the ship)

On my other cruises we usually found a few other europeans, some Dutch, some Germans, and a few scandinavian folks. We didn't actually meet but It's always good to know you're not "alone" on a ship filled with americans and canadians ( and of course the Japanese people fused to their camera's)

So ehhh,..... anyone peeking at this thread that is not American....SHOW YOURSELF... It's not as bad as you think it is. We can take it, let's have big red having to look up some more flags to put over the cruise list.

See you all soon!

:goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

Hi there and welcome to all the new folks on the board! I'm Big Red's Mom!

I had to laugh a little at whoever posted that they had started a "box" of stuff to bring with them. I"ve had a box going since last Christmas...:santa: as Big Red and M&M gave us some things for the cruise! Been adding to it ever since... will have to sort thru it soon!

This is our first and I'm so excited, that I wake up in middle of night thinking about it! Can't wait... only 52 more days till we leave :moped: here headed for the port! :cheer2:  :cheer2:

Just checking in. We had a scare today. My husband and I were talking, isn't it getting close enough now that our final payment is due? (We've only paid our deposit to date.)

I tried to call our travel agent and the phone # was disconnected!! Then I went to DCL online and punched in our confirmation # and it said no such reservation. By now we were freaking. I called DCL. They were kind of rude and said they couldn't give me any info since the ressie was through a TA. But they did give me DIF conf # and gave me an alternate # to call of my TA's parent company. When I punch in our new Conf # it shows our res is active and I've left a message with this new phone #...Cruise Value Vacations is the parent org apparently of my TA. Will let you know what happens. Looks like we are ok.

Texas Girl

Looking forward sooo much to Oct 7.

Daisy & Big Red - Thanks for the info. about toll money - I would not have realized I needed to have the money ready (love the idea about using the singles from the "tip" envelopes - perfect)! Coming in late at night like that I want to be very prepared to grab the car and get to port (and bed!) ASAP so I will have the "tip" envelope in my purse and ready to use - I suppose it is also convenient to use this at the airport for sky cabs (although with the new security, who knows if that will be an options). :confused3 Do we tip the porters at the cruise terminal who take our baggage from us as we get off at port about $1.00 per bag? Thanks!

Danzer45 - I loved hearing you too have a box going - actually my bag started overflowing and I am onto bag 2 (the water shoes for 5 really filled it up!). :beach: I have vowed to stash things in those bags in my closet as I am reading tips from these boards and as I think of things (Bonine packed and ready to go!). I want to be as relaxed as possible those last few pre-cruise days - I am just as excited as you and I don't want to be rushing around packing and nervous that I forgot something "critical"! :goodvibes

Talk about "don't want to forget anything"... I had a dream that we got ready to board and I had not brought the passports  .. I have them in safe deposit box at bank... so I got up and fixed an AOL alert to remind me to get them about the middle of Sept. and then did follow up alerts just in case! :rotfl2:
