October 7, 2006 Western "Latitude Adjustment Cruise"

I just spent the morning reading all 380 posts. I wanted to refamiliarize with some continuity who we are going to be sailing with in 11 weeks. Just trying to get it straight in my head who is who. It was fun to see the personalities develop with each post. (I won't tell you which one(s) I will duck down the other hallway when I see them coming :rotfl2: -just kidding).
My heart goes out to all of you who have had some serious trials in your lives this last year and I admire your strength. It was also sad to hear that some of you will not be with us afterall on this cruise. You'll be missed.

I see we have several Allen/Alan's on the cruise. I hope that doesn't get confusing. Allen (BigRed) - I finally looked up a pirate name for me. The quiz came up with Calico Mary Rackham. Does that mean we will be pirately related? pirate: Not sure if I'll stick with that or come up with my own. I guess I'll have to make up one for my husband because he would never do it on his own. My husband, Allen, is not a Disney lover like the rest of us, but I'm sure he will enjoy the cruise anyway. Any suggestions for his pirate name? Allen is extremely low key, conservative, and likes things plain. Yep, the relaxation part of the cruise will be just his style. ;)

Our three boys are still in the dark about the cruise, but are looking forward to our trip to WDW. Looking at the cruise list I see that Goofyshell has a son who is 12. Is the 13 yo a boy too? Our twins turn 14 on Oct 8 and our other son is 12. Our 12 yo and I leave on Sept 28 for WDW (in 10 weeks) woohoo! :cool1: (The rest of the family on Oct 1) Can't believe it's almost here! :dance3:

Looking forward to meeting all of you and hearing about Jokesten's Alaskan cruise.

To make our ressies as first time cruisers -- do we call 407-WDISNEY? Anyone know?

Looking forward to confirming a few things!

I found this number on disneycruise.com....For help making dinner and shore excursion reservations call (877) 566-0968.
OR, you can go to disneycruise.com, create an account and make your ressies online. :surfweb: You must know your DCL confirmation number (8 digit number)to do that. Some people that make ressies online look like this: :badpc: I have never had problems online myself. :rolleyes1 Good luck!! It's almost time!!

Latitude Adjustment doesn't really mean anything useful. It comes from a old Jimmy Buffett song titled Changes in Latitude, Changes in Atitude . Later there was a beer commercial on TV that shows a person relaxing on a beach, one would assume is in the carribean, encouraging you to "Change your whole latitude". So I guess it's one of those 'you had to be there' things. :confused3 Sorry I can't answer your question....anyone else want a shot at it, please jump in.

Good luck to everyone making reservations tonight! :thumbsup2

Teachers in our county :teacher: have to be at school in the a.m. The end of summer :sunny: vacation....

Signed,

Jamie I don't know if this helps but, DS8 starts school today. The teachers have been back for the last two weeks.

I made my reservations by calling 0018004493380, works everytime. But then I might be calling at some very weird hours since I have a time difference of about 6 hrs with florida.... ;)
Ah,..so it's Jimmy Buffet again....I know Margaritaville, Why don't we get drunk and ****** and It's 5 ó clock somewhere ( which is a lot more than most Dutch do) But I didn't know this one.
Lots to learn.

Are the teachers back in school again over there?? Out here the holidays just started last week or so.

Good flag on the cruise list! Do you know that one of the Captains on the disney cruise line is (was?) Dutch? His name is Tom.
Almost makes me go patriottic :rotfl:

Hi everyone! My family and I just booked this cruise last week on a whim....we are very excited! Thsi will be our 2nd Disney cruise. I just emailed BigRed1 with our info and will sit down in the next couple of days to read this very long thread! YAY! Looks like we have quite a few DISers going!

Has anyone else encountered any issues with online reservations? I was hoping last week to have been able to book Xcaret and Palo High Tea for our family (we got to book during that early timeframe due to the Castaway Club stuff) but neither showed up online as choices. It has been very confusing but for some reason (we have 2 rooms, so 2 connected reservations) my hubby's listing of choices is much more comprehensive than mine, and when I go to book on my reservation, it allows me only to book for my 7yo daughter....argh. I spent a lot of time on the phone getting help, but have not been able to get very for, I am sorry to say. Does anyone know if Xcaret and the High Tea are able to be booked, sold out, not booked online, etc?

Thanks so much and we are SO GLAD to meet you all!

I was able to book Palo for Friday night online. Since this is our first cruise, we wanted to be sure to soak in the experiences of each of the dining rooms, so Friday night works out great for us. Now to look at excursions :dance3:

:welcome: thesoldtrain!! I got your email and you have been added to the list. I will wait a couple of days before sending it out. No need to read the whole thread, it gets interesting around page 9 or 10. Keep trying for the ressies. If you don't have any luck, you can try when yo get on the ship. You are the first family we have from sunny California. Again welcome aboard, and hope to see you soon!

Hi everyone from a very hot Holland! ( 35 celcius!) :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

I just want to check...anyone going for some serious pirate outfits? I have found some really great patterns and am planning on making a special pirates dress. ( yes I know, but I like that kind of stuff pirate: )
But ehhh, I don't want to be the only one there making a total fool of herself...
I might need some support in this,...since Jaap isn't going to...He probably won't even walk next to me!

Bye Ankh01!

There will be many people dressed in full pirate attire, pirate: not just for the party, but dinner as well. You will not be alone! It's your turn in the heat this week. Last week, we were anywhere from 95-100f (35-38c) with heat index values from 105 to 112f (40-45c) :scared1: Looking forward to :beach:

ankh01 - On our last cruise (sept 05) we saw quite a few people dressed all out for priate night. They all looked so cute esp the ones that got pics with mickey.

Well...in that case...get that machine out of the closet and let's make some outfits!

Ankh01. pirate: :woohoo:
