**@@** October 6th, 2007 Magic**@@**

As far as a chat is concerned I think you should just set a time and hope folks show up. You'll never be able to accommodate everyone.

Mind you, 4:00 A.M EDT on a Tuesday may not get as many folks at 9:00 P.M. EDT on a Thursday.

I just dont want to seem bossy... rofl

Ok 9pm EST Sunday (8 central, 6 PST)

WOW! what exciting things have been happening... :cool1: Everyone getting docs and making plans. Man, I wish the time would be here, NOW! We don't have docs yet. We have so many cabins available..has anyone tried to check prices? If they aren't full..could we get a price change? I have heard of people doing this if the ship has trouble filling. Anybody else seen this happen?

Although I am going on a breakfast cruise tomorrow morning. I figure it will give me a taste of cruising. On the Ohio river. We sail out of Newport, KY with a breakfast buffet then travel along for a bit before we come back. It's free, so I might as well enjoy. My company is having it as a get-together.

CHAT: I am definitely up for a chat...:happytv: Sometimes we delay our replies and another page goes by before we hear anything back. Chat would be so ... instantly gratifying!! :lmao: Sunday night works for me..Kids go to bed at 9pm eastern, so if we are talking then I will have to bow out for a bit...just a little.:rolleyes1

I'd be REALLY surprised to hear if the ship isn't full by debarkation. This sailing (week of Columbus Day) usually sails full. In fact, it is always more full than the sailing the week before and the week after. Reason is, that Disney offers all of their available cabins to FL residents at a very reduced rate right before sailing. From what I understand, they also offer these cabins to Disney employees (like WDW, corporate, etc.) Many are able to take advantage of it that week because schools have a few days off. We were warned last year when we booked that this would most likely be a full sailing which bummed me out as our Eastern sailing was not full, and therefore that much more enjoyable. Ultimately, it's a blast whether it is full or not, just maybe a little more crowded.

Hey everyone, I just found this board.

We are going on the Oct 6th Western Carribean cruise... with our 8 year old daughter (2nd grader)

We're from NY (yes, we are pulling her out of school... does that make us bad parents?)

Write to me if you want to talk before the trip... we can't wait!

We are in Long Island, I am taking my first grader out of school. A number of us on this board are taking the kids out of school. So join us on the cruise of bad parents:)

I informed my kids that they would miss 5 days of school. It would have been six if it wasn't for Thanksgiving,

My youngest said "we'll make the sacrifice"

You are bad parents, and so are we.:thumbsup2

Pulling a 3rd grader, 1st grader and a pre-schooler out of school. In fact sent the note to the schools today letting them know about it. And I am working on their journals they will keep while on board.

DMIL lives in Florida so that would be a few coins back for her. We'll take what we can get but so far I haven't received the email about FRR for the 7 night. For the 3 and 4 day sailings, yes but not the 7 night. Not holding my breath. I was just on the DCL website and you can only choose a specific stateroom for 5 Cat 4 rooms and 4 Cat 6 rooms. Everything else is GTY so it seems the ship is reasonably full. Oh well, I seriously doubt I'll notice the difference.

Sunday night would be great for a chat. I'll be at my work computer doing some stuff while our call centers are closed so I can have two keyboards and two mice and swap back and forth between work and Boards. Will make the "work" part way more fun.:rotfl:

I've got my "to do" list started but I'm betting I'm packing at midnight on Thursday before we leave Friday morning. Just always seems to happen that way. HOWEVER, DH said tonight that we should get our stuff together so as soon as I get a week of laundry folded and put up, I can start to lay out our stuff. Got some hemming and ironing to do before we go also. All for a good cause right?

Sunday night would be good for me, I can chat between getting updo lesson's from a 17 year old. Want to be able to fix my daughters hair spiffy for formal night.:wizard:

I know Laura's family is dressing up for pirate night, what about everyone else?pirate:

andy, where do i get the mickeys, i've tried, and CM mom tried to help me, but i'm so out of it, just learning comp. can't get them on my posts. help!

Just have to figure out what to wear that doesn't cost more than a new dress. DS and DDIL have some Renaissance stuff that could probably be converted pretty easily to Pirate. A Wench is a wench whether she's pirate wench or a Renaissance wench - I think - although they would be aghast at the thought. Very authentic they are about their Renaissance faires.

Since I haven't seen ANY of the Pirates movies - - not a big movie person, I guess I'll have to dig out a movie and see what the appropriate "attire" is. We saw a shirt and vest at Target for $14.95 but it's a one size fits all type of halloween costume so heaven knows what it looks like on. Hmmm, I may need to hit the fabric store and check out the patterns but probably not enough time.

I have two weeks, I'm sure I'll figure out something fun.

:rotfl: :rotfl: look what i did, don't ask me how. but at least it's a mickey. sorry it's not the right one, but we are traveling aren't we?? i have so much to learn. i thought if i asked someone else, (andyr) that maybe something would sink in that i overlooked. ha, no use! o well i have a mickey, please don't boo me again, i'm trying. everyone is getting so excited, (me too!) what an uplifting group of people to be sailing off with. i have only so much room in my bags, i just know i don't want to over pack. so if u see me wearing the same thing twice, (please ignore) DD said she would help me,pick which to take.:confused3 waiting for our docs, STILL everythingelse has arrived in time. i'm sure we will be fine. welcome to all the newbe's westerners and anyone i missed, they are adding on so fast, don't know how laura keeps it all straight, so organized. good job.:woohoo: :woohoo: :grouphug: later

I keep telling myself that there is so much to do but now I don't know where to start - geez. We finally got our cruise docs on Thursday!:cool1:

Has everyone finished getting their pirate costumes? We all wanted to look different since the last DCL so I had to rethink everyones "look." UGG!!! Still not happy with DH but......time is running out. I am to scared to start packing because I know our suicases will explode!

SHHHHH! We have planned a side trip that the kids do not know about! We are going to hit the MNSSHP on Oct 4th! Yipee! But - HELP!!!! I am shipping all of our pirate costumes down early so now the kids will not have costumes to wear for the party. Has anyone ever been? How "dressed up" is everyone? Could we do simple things? Please help!

Oh - where do I go to participate in the Sunday chat? TIA!!!

There's always your local Halloween store - or places like this:

http://www.piratescoveonline.com/
http://www.dresslikeapirate.com/scart/index.php?cPath=21
http://tobeapirate.com/store/dProdu...irate~Shirts&gclid=CJvVhumg144CFQc-YAod-WUCSQ

That should give you some basic ideas to work with.

A minimal apprach is:
tatterd shorts, tatterd shirt, bandana and flip flops
