**@@** October 6th, 2007 Magic**@@**

Well.. the alabama gang is now signed up on the board and can't wait for D-day to get here!! We are new to the website but trying to catch on quickly. Thanks for all the info. I am scribbling down notes at a feverous pace!
Margarita tasting?? we are there!!

Woot AWESOME! Welcome!

Soooooooo Who is in your party... any kids? Ages? What Stateroom are you in .. or just cat.. or just Deck.. what ever your conforatble with is fine.

Check the first couple of posts on this thread, I have done my best to keep them updated. It lists meets, who's cruising, dining rotations, etc. In fact I am going to update it tonight I think lol

Yay!!! Welcome again!

Our group consists of 2 families (Lowery's- U of Alabama and the Borst's - Auburn university) It will be football season by the time our trip gets here and we have adjoining rooms... We will try to remained civilized!!

The Lowery's (Jeff and Janna; Brandtley- 9 yr old son, Braxton - 21 month old son)
The Borst's (Donnie and Laurie; Taylor - 11 yr old son, Garrett - 4 yr old son)

Room 2638 , 2640 - Deck 2

Looking for my drinkin shoes... anyone seen them?

Sorry to ask but are you Jeff or Janna??

Also your in for the Dis group Margarita Party... what about your friends... AND with the 21 month old I am pretty sure you ahve to book them in Flounders. Unless your friends are not interested and you can pass him off on them!

I too have a 4 yo boy.... Check the first post to see all the other kids onbaord.

I am slowly chickening out on the Margarita party. I will be a trooper, but a DOTD party or wine tasting is more to my liking. I guess i will just do both.... or all three.... :lmao:

Where are you staying before the cruise? We are at OKW for two nights before heading to the port.

What are everyone's plans when you first board.

This will be our big swim time. I will most likely drop DH and the kids off at the pool, grab food somewhere around there and then go off and putz around..

I want to go to the Concirege get together that starts around 1230, not sure if I want to bring the kids or not, maybe I will just go.... lildeb724 When do you plan on going?? Is your whole family going? Is the Captain there? Or just the concierge staff?

I need to see about booking the Margarita party.. I am toying with emailing the concierge team to see about arranging our own, or prebooking the real one. If I try and prebook/arrange I will need everyone's last names and cabin numbers... that is something that can be EMAILED to me at UsedtobeSmith@aol.com Thoughts? Should I try and use my suite level to get us all together?

OR we could just try and book it every man for themselves. Up to you all :-)

I have updated the first two posts... I put in ordering information for the buttons and added our new cruisers :lmao:

Not sure what everyone will want to do when we first board...prolly just look around. Kids may want to swim..but just not sure. As for the marguarita tasting...come on...it's not about the 'rita's it's about being together and having fun!! Don't you dare back out now!
If I can do it knowing it tastes bad...(or the nasty stuff I tried before was bad...this is supposed to be the top-notch stuff..and we know bars don't invest in top-notch(where I drank mine))..and we do get actual 'rita's to drink...small ones...but still... :upsidedow We can't reserve right now...don't have a room number for either of us. Unless GTY is good enough.

this is Jeff but Janna got me to snoopin around on this site, so she could be posting on here as well... Both groups will be attending the Rita tasting (including kids) jk... 105 degrees here today!! ouch... sure could stand takin a dip in the adult pool about now!!!!

We have had wicked storms here for over a week. Yesterday's storms brought 70 mph winds. I heard the tree outside my window creak, but thankfully no damage!

It was so freaky yesterday... went from 88 degrees and sunny then all of a sudden it got dark, wind rain and the temps dropped to 72, in like 20 mintues.

Fun. NOT

Hi All-

Haven't posted in a while...things are really busy (and HOT) here. We are in count down mode as well...just booked our dining ressies at WDW for after the cruise. Really looking forward to the Sci-Fi Cafe at MGM. It looks so cute! I am a big fan of 50's Prime Time Cafe but felt it was time for something new.

We will be going to concierge (in the bar at Beat Street) first thing as we get on board (I think this is the "get together" you are refering to). It isn't really a get together as much as it is an opportunity for you to sit down with someone from the concierge staff to book ressies for Palo, excursions, events, etc. This, however, is only available to concierge guests (Cats. 3, 2 & 1) I think all other Cats. can still do these things through guest relations. It is a great time for you to make special requests and get lots of information. Even though I have mostly everything booked, I still like to go and book things like Tea with Wendy and the Galley Tour (things you can't book until on board). There are light hors d'ouevres but not much else. From there, we will be going to Parrot Cay for buffet lunch. After that we will be milling about and if we are so lucky to get bags, we will unpack until sail away party.

:sad1: On a side note....our family needs some prayers right now. We just got word last night that my DH's g-ma was in a terrible head on collision yesterday. She is pretty critical with broken ribs, broken ankles, collapsed lung, etc. Unfortunately, the other driver was killed. We are praying for the family of the other driver as well as for g-ma. We have no word yet as to who the other driver was but chances are it is someone we know as they live in a small town in MN. G-ma is going to be devasted when she realizes that she was saved but the other person wasn't so fortunate. Any and all prayers are welcomed and needed. Thanks guys....

(((HUGS)))) How scary for your family. Good thoughts and prayers headed her way.

Galley tour... sounds interesting. Can kids do it?

than lunch and pool - then to the dis meet - though it sounds like a lot of us will be at the Mickey pool anyway!
I will be going to the concierge to get Tea for Wendy tickets also.

Laura - I do think maybe we should talk to concierge about doing a private Margarita tasting. I will email you the information.

Thank you, Laura, for your kind words.

If I remember correctly, the kids were not allowed on the galley tour. Bummer huh? They did go to the bridge, however, with the kids camp. My son really liked that.

I was toying with that idea... and maybe seeing if we can make it a tequilla AND rum tasting :lmao:

And Rellyrooly please Keep us posted on how your GMIL is doing... and my thoughts and prayers are with the other family as well. I am sure that whole community is sadden.

Rellyrooly: you and your family is definitely in our prayers. Hang in there and we all wish a speedy recovery for you DH G-ma. :hippie:  :grouphug:

We will follow along with everyone when it comes to whatever we end up doing on our sea days...We are on vacation and except for the stuff we have reserved...we are not holding to any schedule. Vacation means vacation! So we will be glad to float wherever you'all want..:flower3:   ;)

Rellyrooly, our prayers are with the whole community. It's always hard when there's an accident in a small community since everyone knows everyone else and all the families are intertwined, by friendship if not by blood. We'll keep Gma in our prayers. It's just not as easy to heal as we get older. The ankle I broke in March is still twinging - and may be for the rest of my life and I'm only 59 instead of 73. But my experience with that generation is that they're a really tough group of folks who are fighters. Hopefully G-ma's injuries will heal as well as her spirit.

About our cruise plans, we're planning to "hang out" and spend as much time as possible with DD and DSIL but since they will both be working, that may be limited to dinner each night. DD usually has a couple of hours off in the afternoon but DSIL works 13 hour days so we may not see as much of him. I know I want to do as many "behind the scenes" type tours as possible. The cooking demos were interesting last time but I'm much more interested in how things work.

We're kayaking in Key West, thinking about a jungle hike in Cozumel and haven't decided on what we're planning for Grand Cayman. Maybe an island tour with DMIL so we can assist her. I think DD wants us to do Stingrays on Castaway.

We'll skip the Margaritas and wine tasting. Now if they had a desert tasting, I'd be in in a heartbeat. Hmmm...maybe that's called Palo Brunch?

We have Palo scheduled Saturday night.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

lildeb724 and reilyrooly I would love to get a peek at your Catagory 3's. I'll trade you a peek of my Cat 2... only after the room steward does their magic though :rotfl: :thumbsup2

I am already thinking about our next cruise in 2009... do we want to do two connecting Cat 7's or perhaps a Cat 3. The Cat 2 will be nice, but it is a bit pricey (a bit lol haha rofl) Plus in 2009 the kids will be all that much older and we will be in the room waaaaaaaaaaaay less....

Anyway if you all are up for a peek... I'll show you mine if you show me yours! :rolleyes1

Ooooh Desert tasting! WOOT There IS one of those on the cruise too! I am sooooooooooooooo all over that!

I wonder if I can bring a to-go cooler and fill it with deserts to take back to the cabin!

sorry for your family's misfortune am saying prayers for all involved. sounds like it was a terrible mess for all. hope for the best recovery possible.:goodvibes welcome to the newcomers:banana:  we r a fun group, and waiting impatiently to meet all forum participants. :yay: all the chat helps spread the info. things and ideas pop up on here to help with our planning.:dance3: glad i have DD to do most the planning, she has so much more experience on this computer stuff. i look for things and just have a terrible time finding info on anything. keep tweaking our ideas. we want a good trip.

We've been on the Cruise Critic message board with about 4 other people.
Been wondering were everyone was. Well looks like this is the place to be. Looking forward to this trip and really looking forward to just taking it easy. This cruise will be myself the DW and our DS (3) and this is our first trip on the Magic but we have done the Wonder and loved it. Can't wait to see everyone there!

Andrew
