October 31, 2009

Thanks, Teresa! We're staying home - dh is back home after trying for 3.5 hours to get to work and back home. He never made it to work ... :confused3 Oh well. :)

Yeah, Jared is having a blast!! Cracks me up.

Great job on getting the FE gift done! It's always harder to do the first one. I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with.

Shell:

Good to hear that Jared is doing well at BC.

Wish Jaydin a Happy BDay from us. :cheer2:

The girls really enjoyed their 4 mousketeer chat last night! :yay:

Stay Dry! and good luck with the weather.

Will do! She's so excited about her day.

LOL!! Not sure where everyone else was. Hopefully, they'll join us next week.

Any of you Gold/Plat members book for 2011?
Are you booking now or on the ship? If we book now to snag a room, can we switch it to a booking on board and get the 10% discount?

Here's what I have so far. I will add more when/if I get more. Let me know of changes or needs.

Shell - this list is great. But it has 1 formal and 1 semi-formal night.
I thought that on the 7 night cruise we get 2 semi-formal nights.

Am I wrong, or is one missing from the calendar?

Also, is the 5k at CC a walk or a swim? Hard to walk at 8am when we don't dock until 9:30.

Sorry, Jeff.... there's only one semi-formal night on the 7-night.

ASHORE is 9:30. We dock much earlier than that. According to what we've been told, the 5K is between 8 and 8:30. We THINK we're suppose to meet at 8 ..... that will be ON the ship. The 5K is done before other cruisers are allowed on the island.

Shell, is that your dining rotation on the schedule? If so, what put you into that rotation? If not yours, how do I get on that rotation?:)

Jeff, or anyone for that matter, what makes it semi-formal? I know what formal attire is, but I'm having some confusion about semi. Anyone's suggestioins would be greatly appreciated. Especially if you've been on Disney before and can relate what others wore on the semi-formal nite.

I'm on the PLAAPLA rotation during main dining (which is at 5:45). I asked for that rotation because enjoy AP the most to go to AP more than the others, and concierge put me there.

You could call DCL and find out if you can request a rotation. :) I have also requested servers, but I'm not sure if I will get those or not. Sure would be great to have you guys in there at the same time we are!!!!!

It's very similar - or seemed so on the ship.

Here's the 'technical' definition ....

For women, semi-formal attire is somewhat flexible. Women can wear a dress, pant suit or dress suit. Preferred fabrics for semi-formal attire for women include silk, velvet, rayon, cashmere, high quality polyester brocades, or velour. Usually, anything silky goes. Except for cashmere, a wool business suit is not considered semi-formal attire since it is not dressy enough.

Hem lengths in semi-formal attire dresses vary. Dresses can be cocktail dresses, no more than an inch above the knee, or they can extend to the ankle. Dress suits, for example, a silk suit, usually has a hem length slightly above, at or below the knee. Pants suits, again in silk, polyester, or cashmere, tend to be worn at the ankle. One can also wear dressy tops and tuxedo pants made out of appropriate fabrics and still fit into the semi-formal attire group.

Generally semi-formal attire also means dress heels for women, usually in colors coordinating with one’s outfit. However, a dressy flat or strappy sandal with the appropriate outfit is also considered semi-formal attire. Low, comfy flipflops are not dressy enough to be called semi-formal attire.

For men, semi-formal attire means wearing a full suit, with vest optional. A tie, either bow or straight, should be worn, and the shirt should be a simple button down. Suit fabric choices are primarily wool gabardine or cashmere. However, a wool blend will do. Linen or seersucker suits are not formal enough for semi-formal attire. Dress shoes like oxfords are worn. It is not necessary to wear a tuxedo, and one might be considered a bit overdressed for a semi-formal event showing up in a tux.

Thanks for the education Shell! I guess I dressed all wrong last cruise! :confused3

Last cruise we dressed cruise casual for regular nights, A tux and dresses for formal night, and sport coat and tie on semiformal night.

Thank goodness they did not throw us overboard for the major fashion Faux Paux we made. I gusess diney did not blacklist us since we were able to rebook for this cruise two years Later!!!!!!!!!!

ROTFL!!! I didn't follow the rules at all, so if they didn't throw me off, they sure wouldn't have thrown you off. :) I won't be in 'formal' attire, but plan to be in a dress. That's pretty major for me. :) I wore jeans most of the time last year.

Jeff - If you book now and get a room there is no guarantee when you rebook on the ship you will get the same room. We learned that last year. It took some doing (and a slow cruise desk) for us to get the cabin we wanted so it can be done, but the cruise person has to be willing to work it.

On your questions about Walmarts and such, I know they are nor close to the Radisson as we toured Cocoa Beach LY and never saw them anywhere and we were there for a full day and all over the inlet. I think they may be about 8 miles or so, but that's a guess. I C/P that info

THERE ARE **13** extra lanyards if anyone is interested. First come, first served. I will need names for name badges, payment ($3 + $5 per address to mail them to), and an address to mail them to. PLEASE contact me about these before October 5. I don't want to wait too late to get these mailed.

Shell - You have my information right. Thanks for all your hard work with the lanyards. How is the weather situation there? Getting any better?

Great!! Thank you for confirming, Pam.

We had some sun this afternoon!!! The weather says we might still get some more rain, but hopefully, we'll be able to dry up a little before that happens. Schools are still closed tomorrow ( I don't care since I homeschool, but it's a good indicator of how the roads are ), and our church services are canceled for tomorrow night. We'll see if Mark can manage to get to work tomorrow. Didn't make it today - not for lack of trying, though!! Thanks for asking!!

Our lanyard names are right.

Day 2 and 3 more FE gifts done. I'm on a roll now.

If formal and semi-formal nights are anything like on the RCCL, we saw men in suits on both nights (my dad and DH will be in suits both nights) and ladies in dresses both nights. Alot more up-does for the ladies' hair on formal night. Same for DCL?
