October 31, 2009

I know I don't post much here but I do check in pretty regularly. I just had to share that I'm VERY sad and a little angry. :sad1: We're leaving the evening on the 28th to fly to MCO. We were going to surprise the kids with a trip to MNSSHP on the 29th after we spent the morning at KSC and had made our travel plans accordingly. Now they have canceled the 29th party. :confused3 They only have parties on the 27th and 31st that week. Oh well, maybe another year.

That's frustrating, for sure. We were planning on the 29th, too. Perhaps they will add it later, though.

So sorry to hear that your plans have been foiled. I have never been to MNSSHP and, like you, would have planned accordingly if we were going to attend this year. I am sure that you will plan something else very FUN for you and your family : ). Just remember that the 31st you will be setting sail which is probably the primarily reason you are traveling, right???!!!!! Who knows, maybe additional dates will be added to MNSSHP, unlikely but one can always hope, right???

That's what I'm hoping!!

I leave in two days! I am excited not only because I'm going on vacation, but because the ship is in drydock and will be "brand new" when we get on. Hopefully the smoke smell will be gone.

I am also trying to lose weight. I have 70 to 80 pounds to get to my goal weight, but I'm shooting for 50 to 60 for the cruise. My food and exercise lifestyle is pretty simple. When I am on track, I walk about 3 miles a day and follow the South Beach Living plan. It is basically a "good" carb and low fat diet. I am a typical yoyo'er. I was at my goal weight in 2006 but I gained most of it back. I have, however, stayed below my heaviest weight by 40 lbs. My biggest problem is that I like to eat. Food is WONDERFUL!!!!

I am not sure if I will remember to check in, but I lost 3 lbs last week. I plan to be "good" on my cruise next week. I WILL choose the right foods and exercise every day!!!

Think good thoughts for me.

Have a wonderful time, William. And ... be careful of all those yummy foods on the cruise this week. I can't wait to hear how it goes.

Hey my countdown calendar says

180 days

That's 6 months... It's getting closer and closer :cool1::cool1:

Yes, yes! That's what mine says, as well!!

Only 6 months to wait .... only 6 months to get it all done ... only 6 months to lose this weight!!!!!

Does anyone know what the Magic's itinerary is this week (or next if in the Eastern this week)? I know that it was going to Nassau instead of Cozumel, but was wondering how that was being worked into the schedule.

If anyone's interested, the Magic is in port in Grand Cayman. Use the link Kelly provided or the one below and you can see it anchored in the water. Kinda cool. Thanks Kelly, I love using web cams to see different parts of the world.

This is the web cam is visable on now:

It's gone now, but maybe next week.

Don't forget about Kids' chat tonight at 8!!!

Sorry that Stephanie & Kristen couldn't make the kids chat last night. Both girls had school transition programs last night at the same time at two different schools.

Stephanie had hers for high school and kristen for Intermediate school. Needless to say it split Diane and I in different directions also.

Did the girls miss anything important?

Looking forward to tommorrows chat. Hope to be back in time for it. I am commuting back and forth each day this week to an Emergency Management conference for work in Atlantic City. Its a 45 minute drive each way, which seems not to be to bad, but normally it is a 15 minute drive to the office each way.

Hope to talk to everyone tommorrow.

That's frustrating, isn't it? I hate having to choose which kid to support! LOL!

Nothing important last night. The kids had a big discussion about who they loved on Idol. Important stuff right there .... LOL!

I should be there tomorrow night. I have a lot to do tomorrow.

Eric and I will be online tonight! Looking forward to it. Do we have a topic set for tonight?

In case I do not get back in time from my conference in AC tonight could someone pose the question to see if it is possible to get an offline log of the chats from each night. I asked last week but the person who's husband is the one to ask had left the chat early last week.

If there is a way could someone PM me with the directions. Thanks

Steve

I set up the room to log the chat... Not really sure exactly how it works but we will try it out... I should be on time... I have a few things to do including working out before I can play so off to do those things now

Sorry guys no chat for me tonight. I have been in bed since Monday w/ the flu. I hope I feel better soon. :sad1: Have a great chat!

Hey now, no pressure! I thought we were a bunch of fun loving cruisers. Not 5k pushers!

I read through the Couch 2 5k site and it definately looks doable. I'm going to adjust my current routine and see what happens. I hate running/jogging/moving briskly, but will make the attmept.

So, come on all you couch spuds!:yay: Give it a shot through the summer while the weather is nice and see what happens. Worst thing you get into a little better shape. Best thing you get to run around CC with no one else there except the rest of us nuts.:dance3:

Now I really should get back to work.. Talk soon!!!

So, I went to work today (I work in an elementary school) and I told the PE teacher that I was thinking about doing a 5K run/walk. Well, not sure if that was a good idea or not because I think I now have a personal trainer. She sent me off with a pedometer, told me to write everything down and will be checking in frequently. YIKES! :scared1:

So I guess that means, I am in! Eric says he is doing it too, although with 3 back surgeries under his belt, I will not allow him to run, he will walk. This is all dependent on kids being allowed to go, or kids club open in the morning, or somewhere for them to go. If not, Eric and I will have to decide which one of us gets to join you all.

awww man.... you took my little joke too far and are signing up.... Now I have to learn to run too :lmao::lmao:

It wasn't a joke, now I have a goal and people to answer to which is just what I need... Yea!!!!

BTW.. took advantage of no rain since Sunday and ran about a mile...

So who else is in???

Ok, ok. We're making plans to run/walk the 5K. Geez ... what am I letting Kelly get me into?! I will probably be slow because I'm going to want to take pictures while I head around the island.

Mark, me, and Jonah are making plans - providing they allow Jonah to run/walk (and Alexa runs, too .... :) )

Pam - we sure missed you last night, but I hope you're feeling much better today!!

If I don't say it before Sunday - I hope all of you moms out there have a wonderful Mother's Day!!

Hey Jen ... great job on getting the free personal trainer!!! :)

JANUARY 2009

It was priceless (around 9:30am CC day) when we approached the person who was in charge of it and said what we did and to please add our names to the roster of people who COMPLETED the 5K. When I said we did it in 51:23....he literally did a double take :rotfl2:.
Now keep in mind, "Sven" had short blonde hair and I'd say less than .01% body fat on him (enuf to 'make me sick':rotfl:...I was THAT jealous) and he looked like he worked out morning, noon and night....
BUT WE "held" our ground in WANTING THAT CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION ;).
Sure enuf, at the end of the day, S & myself had our certs attached to our fish extenders.
So.....what I am trying to get at is its not "HOW FAST" you finish, its that YOU FINISHED.
And yes....(around 4pm) even when we both approached Guest Services and explained that we finsihed it and it was fun, etc...and that we did it in 51:23....well - yes....they TOO did a double take. But, I responded with "hey - we finished it..didn't we??"
S & I did it cuz we wanted to see the island uninterrupted and for the most part - objective accomplished:goodvibes. It was very peaceful jogging the open road...and having it all to yourself - seeing CC like that.....very beautiful.
What I am sensing here is that we are beginning to get a group together.:cloud9::yay:...and yes....anyone can jog/run it:goodvibes.
...and besides - listening to radio DISney or just listening to DISney music on yer I-pod while jogging it (to me) just enhances the overall experience.

-----------------------------------
P.S.

**** This was cut & pasted from an earlier blip from someone else. Keep in mind its important to look at your personal ship's navigator to RECONFIRM the time - ****

"...you meet at the gangway at 8:30 AM. (The Pub Meister) hangs out for a few minutes to give people time to show up. There is no official sign, just look for a group of people that look like they are ready to go for a run. They'll be easy to pick out of the flip flop and beach towel crowd.

Now for the running: The course is from the boat, up the main sidewalk, past the beaches, Scuttles Cove, bike rentals, etc. You then run down the air strip and break off onto the bike loop that goes by the observation tower. When you get back to the runway, you take a right and go all the way to Serenity Bay. Then it's back down the air strip and retrace your steps down the main sidewalk. You hit 3.1 miles around when you pass the gift store near the sidewalk to the snorkleing.

When you hit the runway again after the bike loop, he sent the lead pack up the air strip with out him and he says back and finishes the course with the last few runners. You pass by them and wave as you head back down the runway on your way back. He shows you where to stop while you are on the way out (though it doesn't seem like everyone was listening). He has ice cold bottled water waiting on you at the finish which was nice.

It was a nice run and extremely flat, which was nice since it was already pretty hot, even at 8:30. The 5K "leader" takes your name and room number and a finisher's certificate shows up in your room later that evening. It's the same basic certificate as you get for winning the 3 on 3 basketball tournament and it makes a cool keepsake.

Overall, it was a great experiance and I recommend it to anyone who would enjoy it.

OMG! So we were at the airport last night meeting up with my parents. For those of you that do not know, my parents are taking each grandchild to WDW for their birthday for the "what will you celebrate" promo. Before Adam goes through security, he hands me my Mother's Day card and wants me to open it before he goes. Of course can not wait to see what pretty picture my almost 8 year old has made me, I open the card and inside is a piece of paper with my name on it. Looks like travel documents. I look at Eric and say when and where are we going? Eric says, Happy Mother's Day, you are going to Disney with your son!!!!!!! Also in the card was my no expiration Disney pass.

OMG! What about clothes? Eric points to my mom who is holding a suitcase. Oh yeah! They have a house down there, they never bring luggage with them. Adam is not flying back until Tuesday, when am I coming back. Eric says Tuesday. WHAT ABOUT WORK!!!!! Relax Jen. They know you are going. WHAT??? I have been working with people that have known???? Everyone knows but me. OMG!!!

So, I am typing this from my parents house. We are leaving in a couple of hours in their RV to Fort Wilderness for the weekend.

I will not be on the kids chat on Monday. Eric might be there, if he remembers. HAHAHA - also had to call Eric and tell him that I signed up to bring meatballs for a teacher luncheon at Alexa's school on Tuesday. HAHAHA

OMG Jen that is soooo awesome!!!!!!! Have a wonderful weekend

Eric - Can you talk to John about how to pull of the best surprises LOL
