October 31, 2009

We are now looking at the possibility of may be not sending the kids to school on Friday October 30 and changing our flight down to leave Philly in the morning of the 30th so that we could spend more time with the cool kids at the Radisson. :cheer2:

Do it, Do it... We won't arrive until about 5:00 as it is a 12 hour drive and we are leaving our house at 5:00 AM

I got you both beat, I am over 1500 :goodvibes
I forgot we were talking about posts. I was thinking 1500 what? You don't want to know the things that went through my mind!

As for the 30th, we are at the Radisson that night and would love to meet up with people. Just not sure what time we will be getting there. We land around 4 or 4:30. By the time we get the luggage, get the car and get there, I'm guessing it will be around 6:30. Problem is if we are that late, we might stop to eat dinner on the way.

Is there a meet and greet set up at the hotel Friday night? Saturday morning?

How would you handle last minute port changes

Ok here are my thoughts, the change from Cozumel to Nassau next week has put all of cruisers into a tizzy of trying to determine at the last minute what to do about excursions as they all planned on Mexico and didn't even think about Nassau as a alternative. Those poor folks are all stressing out, as they have done no research reading planning ,etc.. and I can understand why..

I was thinking that we could be in the same boat (actually we will be in the same boat hehehe).

Since we are traveling in Hurricane season, albiet at the end, there is always a possibility (hopefully very, very small) of a last minute change to our itinerary as well. I was thinking that it would be in my best interest to minimize my stress level (thus making John very happy LOL) and maybe I would go ahead and using my 2009 passporter and the DIS and review and highlight excursions that interest me or have lots of positive feedback at each of the ports that DCL stops this way if there is a last minute change I am at least a little educated about the possibilities of other points.. am I over thinking this or has anyone else thought to do the same thing???

I am not sure what I would do. I would be really happy just to kick back on the ship and have myself a drink and people watch. that would be my plan.

Okay, NOW I am leaving for VA Beach. Talk to you all Sunday!

LOL! Yeah, but if I had been here 5 years, I would probably have 3000 posts by now!! LOL!

I think Kelly is having a m/g that night at the hotel. If we stay there, we'll be at the m/g!

Hmmmm ... I don't know. I don't think we're going to do an excursion there, but it is certainly something to think about. It does make it more worthwhile to choose a DCL excursion, though, because they will take care of canceling the ones that are at the canceled port. Perhaps, we should just have 'standby' excursions for various ports in the Caribbean. :) LOL!

I have a copy of the new Passporter edition so feel free to ask if you need any clarification of excursions, prices, etc. from your 2009 edition.:wizard: :grouphug:

Hello fellow cruisers....

I have kind of a personal question to ask so don't answer if you don't want to do so.

How many of you are trying to get into shape or lose weight before the cruise?

I will admit that I don't have as much weight to lose as I do have to get back into shape but there are a few to lose as well. I have a class reunion, trip to the beach and the cruise all within a 8 week period of time so I am trying to stay motivated and on track... I know Shell and Mark are working really hard as well. Shell is my wii fit hero LOL

Here is my idea for anyone who is also working to get into better shape and lose weight. I think we have a weekly check-in where we tell what we did the previous week, if you want to list your weight goals go for it but not required of course. Just a way to share a common goal and to support and encourage each other. Check-in would be every weekend between Friday and Sunday. As an example my week:

Sunday: Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred
Monday: Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred
Tuesday: Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred, 15 minutes on eliptical
Wednesday: Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred
Thursday: Ran/walk for 20minutes (1 mile)
Friday: Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred
Saturday: Ran/Walk for 20 minutes (1 minute)

I also managed to stay at or just below my calorie allowance each day except yesterday (I went over because we ate dinner out) and I have only had ZERO :cool1::cool1: cigarettes since Sunday (I fell off the wagon last weekend).

I also plan on buying a pedometer today as I walk constantly at work and have no idea how many steps that is.

My goal is to be in better shape for the cruise and I want to run the Castaway 5k on our Castaway Day..

Kelly - your plan sounds great. I'm sure all your hard work will pay off!! And excellent job on the ZERO cigarettes. I know that's a hard one so good for you. Hoping you and all our fellow cruisers have a wonderful weekend!!

Me, me, me!!!!:cool1:

We were doing it regardless of the cruise, and I'm so glad that we decided to do it.

Wii Fit hero! Ha!!!:lmao: That's funny.

Kelly!!!!! I'm SOOOOOO proud of you!!!!! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2 No matter what, that will make you feel better and much stronger. Great job, my friend.

Let's see .... my week ....

Sunday - 18 minutes of WF(Wii Fit) and about 30 minutes on Gold's Gym (GG)
Monday - 43 minutes of WF
Tuesday - 24 minutes of WF and 15 *intense* minutes of My Fitness Coach (MFC)
Wednesday - 37 minutes of WF
Thursday - 19 minutes of WF and 15 minutes of MFC
Friday - 50 minutes of WF
Today - I think I'm taking a work out break. I will get back to it tomorrow evening.

Calories - below 1100 each day except Monday.

I have to get a lot done in the next few weeks. I'm having surgery the first week of June and won't be able to exercise for a while (several weeks :( ).

Ok ... scratch that. I ended up doing the 15 minutes MFC workout and the physical challenge with it.

Hello fellow cruisers....

I have kind of a personal question to ask so don't answer if you don't want to do so.

How many of you are trying to get into shape or lose weight before the cruise?

Well, yes I am. But mine started last year when I met with my Dr. for my annual meet & greet. We both decided I needed to drop some weight and that the cruise would be a good goal to shoot for. It was far enough away to be attainable and something I would still be looking forward to. So, I started eating better and exercising more. My employer has a discount at a near by gym, so I joined that (I work out on my lunch break, it's that close). I don't count calories and I don't know how much I weigh. I noticed my clothes were getting bigger on me. I recently bought new clothes a size smaller than I had been wearing. So, I guess something is working.:thumbsup2

....I look at it this way. Have any of you watched the cable tv program, "What NOT to Wear." ??
Now, combine that with the Travel Channel's Samantha Brown episodic travel programs that, in a few segments, shows typical beach scenes with men & women in various swim /beach attire.

Well........ I don't wanna look like something ya DONT WANNA be wearing while out "traveling" on the beach:eek:, :scared1: or .

Therefore YES - I am dieting as well. Gained 6 lbs from Jan 09 WDW / DCL trip. Presently lost 10 lbs - so net gain of a loss of 4 lbs thru today.

HHHmmmmm..... about the 5-K. You just may have something here. I "ran it" (Jan 09) in 51:23 as I was more interested in seeing the island for the very 1st time. It was sooooooo peacefull running /jogging it...just me, the open road and the island - I felt like I had it allllll to myself...for about 15 minutes as I got a big kick watching the jackrabbits finish it in 23 minutes. But hey - I STILL received my certificate for completing it:woohoo:.
Makes me wonder if we just may have a small group of us doing the 5k (in Nov 09)- now THAT would be pretty neat!:yay:

Here is another kind suggestion 4 all of us: The Vista Spa exercise room opens up at 6am everyday and the tread mills are fantastic! :goodvibes. While on the Wonder In January, I brought my I-pod earphones with me everyday and plugged them into the treadmill and had a total blast watching Disney movies, news, sports (I love to channel surf) or even the "Bow cam."
I will be there everyday (GROAN) cuz I know I will be gaining back what I am presently dropping.
But hey, why not reward youself and check out the Rainforest room?? Just an idea....

This could be fun. It might help me to have to report to someone! Do not have much of an exercise routine in place. Maybe this will help me get one going.

My goal is too huge to have done before the cruise so I have a mini goal. My goal is 50 pounds before the cruise. I have lost 19 so far. :woohoo: Blew it this weekend in VA Beach. I did not even think before I ate and now I wonder why??? STRESS!

Anyway... I will report again next week! Maybe I will have an exercise plan by then.

I know I don't post much here but I do check in pretty regularly. I just had to share that I'm VERY sad and a little angry. :sad1: We're leaving the evening on the 28th to fly to MCO. We were going to surprise the kids with a trip to MNSSHP on the 29th after we spent the morning at KSC and had made our travel plans accordingly. Now they have canceled the 29th party. :confused3 They only have parties on the 27th and 31st that week. Oh well, maybe another year.

No 5K for me!! I probably will be able to run that far by that time, but I am not up for that. I hope you guys do well and have fun!!!

Good for you, Jen!!!!

Mark has already lost over 50. I'm not doing well with it this week, but I'm not sure why. I've watched everything that I eat, and I've been exercising. Not sure what's up. On a plateau, I guess. :)

Hope it goes well this week.

William - your trip is close!!! Have a wonderful time and tell us all about it when you get back!!!!

So sorry to hear that your plans have been foiled. I have never been to MNSSHP and, like you, would have planned accordingly if we were going to attend this year. I am sure that you will plan something else very FUN for you and your family : ). Just remember that the 31st you will be setting sail which is probably the primarily reason you are traveling, right???!!!!! Who knows, maybe additional dates will be added to MNSSHP, unlikely but one can always hope, right???

William - your trip is close!!! Have a wonderful time and tell us all about it when you get back!!!!

I leave in two days! I am excited not only because I'm going on vacation, but because the ship is in drydock and will be "brand new" when we get on. Hopefully the smoke smell will be gone.

I am also trying to lose weight. I have 70 to 80 pounds to get to my goal weight, but I'm shooting for 50 to 60 for the cruise. My food and exercise lifestyle is pretty simple. When I am on track, I walk about 3 miles a day and follow the South Beach Living plan. It is basically a "good" carb and low fat diet. I am a typical yoyo'er. I was at my goal weight in 2006 but I gained most of it back. I have, however, stayed below my heaviest weight by 40 lbs. My biggest problem is that I like to eat. Food is WONDERFUL!!!!

I am not sure if I will remember to check in, but I lost 3 lbs last week. I plan to be "good" on my cruise next week. I WILL choose the right foods and exercise every day!!!

Think good thoughts for me.

Hey my countdown calendar says

180 days

That's 6 months... It's getting closer and closer :cool1::cool1:
