Jeff --

Personally, if it was me, I would exhaust all avenues now instead of waiting a few months before the cruise, even if that means calling a particular place daily. We used All Seas Travel in Florida as our TA for this Disney Cruise. They were able to wait list us for the Roy Disney suite after we were shut out of it and booked a two bedroom suite instead. I would recommend calling them and see if they could help you out. Worst case, they can't help you, but I am sure that they would be willing to try their best! Tell them that you were referred from a fellow cruiser who will be sailing on this cruise with you! Best of luck. Please let us know if you get what you are looking for!!!!!!!!! I know that we are all routing for you to secure what would best fit your needs!!!!!

Thanks, so are you saying that people do cancel, and that will be close to the final payment date? Basically checking everyday now would most likely be a waste of time, but starting maybe 3 months before that final payment date, my odds will increase.

Hi Jeff!

I also think you should consider a TA to help you...we are also using DU...they are very helpful...and it would make less work for you...and have a great onboard credit.

I wouldn't wait for 3 months before...if it was something I really wanted I call would daily...but that's just me...after final payment if you cancel you will loose part of your deposit so anyone who was trying to decide if they were going or not would probably cancel after that date.

What I meant by my orginal post is you might have a few people booked on the cruise who are waiting until a few weeks before final payment to decided if they are going to go or not...they just booked early to get the best rate incase they do go...I know a few cruisers who have done this for other cruises. These people will cancel before final payment so they do not loose there deposit. However you also have cruisers who wait until then to even book there cruise...and if they book online they will get the best avaiable rooms in the catagory unless the choose a certain room.

Hope you get the rooms you are looking for:goodvibes We still have lots of time...I am sure something will open up...

Hi everyone:banana:

How is everyone's summer going? Our's has been busy...too many trips to the children hosiptal:sad2:

Okay I have a cruise question that will hopefully get us all chatting a little...

What activity on the cruise are you looking forward to the most?

For me it is the same as my first cruise...the Adventure Away Party when the horn goes off for the first time...it is very magical!:goodvibes

Everyone is telling me to switch my reservation to Dreams Unlimited so they can help with my problem.
Do they have a phone number?
Is there a particular TA there that people used and like?
How does transferring the reservation work?
We currently have the air booked as well, will DU be able to cancel that part if we get better flights on our own?
Are there any additional costs (taxes, fee, different insurance) when booking through them?

Maybe this link will help you...there is a link on that page where you can email DU about transferring a current reservation. Maybe you should email them all your questions and your concern regarding your staterooms...then you can decide if you would like to transfer or not...they also have a really good onboard credit too you should inquire about...

http://www.dreamsunlimitedtravel.com/cruise/index.htm

I booked my last cruise with a local TA but a few a my cruisemates used DU and had nothing but good things to say about them...DU even credited their account when the cruise lowered in price...I had to argue with my TA to get them to credit my money back after I heard DU credited back there customers...I wouldn't even known that the price went down if it was up to my TA.:sad2:

I booked this cruise through Disney to get the onboard credit that Disney was offering online and then I transferred to DU. It was simple. It cost nothing extra and they gave me $100 onboard credit for the transfer. I sent them a email before I sent my transfer request asking them everything I wanted to know...Tammy was very helpful and fairly quick to respond...DU also have a helpful website that you can access once you transfer. My experience so far with DU has been great...we have had many questions as of late regarding my daughters health and Tammy has been wonderful making suggestions and request for me.

I wish you all the best...

The saga is over, or at least I hope it is :worship: . Thank you everyone who gave us some advice. We decided it wasn't worth risking anything on this cruise and that we want to play it safe for the time being. We moved our DS back into our room, and moved all of us into a set of adjoining rooms on deck 1. The rooms got great reviews and we are looking at the positive things about the rooms and the deck instead of thinking about what we might be missing on deck 2. Sure, we might try to see if we can get deck 2 rooms as our date approaches, but for now, I can sleep easier knowing we have great rooms and our son is with us.
Everyone will still visit our decorated door :clown: and our fish extenders :fish: even if we are really out of the way right? Besides, we get to be first off the ship at all the ports and we don't have to wait for the elevator!

Hi All

1st...Kelly great job on the web site.:thumbsup2 It looks fantastic. I can't wait to see it all filled in. We have the early dinning along with Nancy and John and KBTennant the next time you get to update your list.

2ND..Is any one out here planing on doing any diving while on the cruise?:confused3 I have started a thread with question about it. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1889423 Even if you are not diving this trip, but have done so in the past I would love the input.

Hi Fellow Haunted Cruisers, When would be a good time to start booking shore excursions? Do you book them direct with the provider or with DCL? We are looking at the dune buggy tour in Cozumel. Any help is appreciated.

Doug

Hi Everyone...just thought I give us a little bump on the board...

Hi Doug...if your excursions are not too far from port and you have plenty of time to get back to the ship...it is usually a lot cheaper to book directly through the provider...and then you can return back to the ship when you are ready instead of waiting for everyone else...we found it more relaxing with small children to be able to set our own schedule...

Hi Jeff... glad you got rooms that you are comfortable with...a big bonus to Deck 1 is beat street isn't above you:thumbsup2...our friends actually decided to book deck 1 instead of deck 2 from there upcoming cruie because of ease of access to shore on port days and because it should be quieter there....

Kelly the website is fanastic! We also have early dining next time you update the site...

I hope everyone is having a great summer!

Hi all... I just wanted to pop in say hi and let you know I will get the site updated shortly. John and I are off to celebrate our anniversary today and go to PF Changes for dinner so it won't be today but I plan to work on it some this weekend.

Hi Kelly!

Happy Anniversary to you and John!!!:goodvibes

I noticed on Kelly's web site that she has a page for meetings. It seems to list both on board and pre cruise (nothing yet though).
When do people really starting meeting before the cruise?
At the time of the cruise we will have our DS 7 (almost 8) and DD 4 (almost 5). Since they will be in the kids club a lot, having them know someone in advance would be great. So these, pre cruise meetings sound like a cool idea to us.
Of course, we are in NJ, but that pretty much is 90% of the cruise right
:rotfl2:

No rush to do this yet, but we would definitely want to be included if anyone starts planning one.

Good Morning everyone...just thought I'd give us a bump of the second page...

Hi Jeff,

Deck 1 isn't so bad! We did it in April, and we will be down there again with you :goodvibes We will see your door and fish extenders, because you'll probably be down the hall or something form us :lmao: Do you know your room number?

Has anyone else been scoping out the shore excursions? I know it's too early to book, but in Cozumel I am eyeballing the Dolphin encounter for kids for my DD, and the regular doplhin swim for DH & DS. I don't swim AT ALL, so I can't join in myself, but I'd book the Dolphin Observer for me. I haven't looked too much at the other ports yet.

Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying their summer.

Hi Jaime,

Hope your DD is doing well :)

Darlene

popping onto your thread for a minute.........

i am thinking of booking this cruise, I was not going to book until 2010 but i just cant wait so Dh said go ahead and book one.

So instead of going to the CRUISE WEBSITE i came here first to see which Thread sounded most interesting. And had soem conversation going.

We went on a cruise in June and i missed out on alot of the fun as it was spur of the moment cruise.

We went ont he Halloween cruise in 2007, it was very fun!

Do you guys have list of people in attenance would love to look it over before making my final decision see if any one i have previouslu cruised with is coming along!!!

Am i crazy or what........How do you guys decide what cruise to go on?:thumbsup2

NJMomma, Yes, we are on deck 1 and extremely excited about it. We are pretty much all the way on the end (or should I say middle). I'm not sure of the cabin numbers but we are way down toward were the rooms stop mid ship.
We can't wait.
Where in NJ are you from? Your signature says your DD is 5, is that now or time of cruise?

Hi all.. just popping in realy quick to let you know I know I promised to get our website uodated and I havent done it yet.. I have strep throat and a sinus infection which is keeping me in bed. Just give me a few more days and I will get it fixed then... Take care

Kelly

Good morning fellow cruisers! :goodvibes It's been awhile since I last checked in. I've been busy with my children's sporting events. I'll have a few days of quiet at home and then we'll be packing up to go to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. :cool1:

I hope everyone is enjoying their summer. :) njmomma mentioned excursions and I am really curious about XCarat. I think we'll be doing that one in Cozomel. :thumbsup2

Hi Jaime,

Hope your DD is doing well :)

Darlene

Hi Darlene,

We are thinking about doing the Dolphin Encounter too...are you considering booking it directly? I think we will early next summer.

She is doing very well considering...but it has been a stressful summer here...she has a congential arnchoid cyst on the right side of her brain. We had no idea:sad2: She started having headaches in late May and from what we understand now her headaches were caused because the cyst ruputured causing a large amount fluid to compress the right side of her brain:sad2:. The good news is her body was able to drain the extra fluid on the brain by itself and there doesn't seem to be any damage. It is extremely rare for her type of cyst to rupture so we a currently working with specialist to figure out how to prevent it from ruputuring again since it will not go away.

When we booked this cruise orginally it was because it $800 cheaper than any other date and because we love the Halloween party in the MK and hope to do it again...we were unsure if we would be able to cruise for sure because of airfare but after every thing that has happened this summer we now have full attention to cruise in 2009. So as long as our dd is in good health and we can get travel health insurance we will be cruising:goodvibes I am glad we booked when we did though because I believe this cruise has gotten very poplar. Our friends priced it the other day and it was a lot more then when we booked...actually all the rates have gone up!
