OCTOBER 30th & NOVEMBER 3rd Cruises (FE and Meets)

Ok,
the masses have spoken.
One long list is it.:goodvibes

At the 2 month mark we will still add new cruisers if they want to join in the fun but will advise them that they may not receive from everyone since several have already done their gifts an dhave planned their packin gof luggage accordingly.

That is what we have done on other cruises and it worked great.:thumbsup2

I usually went to the store on the ship and got some goodies or post cards or cute pens and pencils if I didnt have room in the luggage for the extra gifts for the new people.
If they had kids I made sure they got a little something 3 or 4 times during the cruise. I wanted the kids to have a very special cruise!!

Thanks for responding everyone,
Kathy

Kathy, she's beautiful! Things are so very crazy right now, I can't imagine having pets along with the kids. Maybe again one day! You often get less attitude with pets than you do kids!!!

I agree with that. Pixie is really mellow and a big scardy cat unless its a stranger coming towards our place or me, then she is 100% guard dog.

Minnie ( our other dog)is our attitude problem. Not as bad as raising 2 teenage girls but pretty close somedays:lmao:

You will survive all the crazyness and someday when your kids are grown with kids of their own you can sit back and chuckle because it's payback time!!!:woohoo::woohoo:

so with all the FE talk think I may start researching if i am making a fishextender or buying one.

Yesterday was the first day of summer vacation for my DDs. As a treat, we did the big reveal about the cruise. Their reaction was everything we could have hoped for. They are very excited! I am happy that now I get to do the rest of the planning with them.

Looking forward to the rest of the summer.

Good morning everyone,
cool and cloudy this morning but heading for 70 this afternoon:goodvibes

Have a great day.

Anybody have special plans this weekend????

None here. But vacation starts next thursday:cool1:

Hi all,

this just turns out to be the week from H-E - double hockey sticks for me.

Bad storm Wednesday night - without power from 7:30pm to 6am the next morning. No power means my mom's power bed does not work, and it was in the low position when she went to bed (so both my Dad and I had to get up in the middle of the night to help her out of the bed when she needed to use the facilities), and my Dad's c-pap machine does not work with no power either (so bad sleeps all around).

My back neighbours tree is in pieces in our backyard (the WHOLE tree), and it brought down our cable wires (so no cable tv, and no internet) and part of it is resting on our phone wires so our phone service keeps cutting out everytime there's a little bit of wind. Cable company can't get out until Saturday and phone company won't be out until next Monday.

And to top it all off - My job has been eliminated.

They've given me another position but asked me to keep doing the job functions I've been doing for the past 3.5 years. Over the next "7 or 8 months" they'll figure out what exactly I should be doing.

I can't wait for this week to end. :headache:

Oh my...sounds like you need to be knee deep in the water somewhere (Zac Brown Band), where it's 5 o'clock somewhere (Jimmy Buffett)!

I am praying that your week and everything gets better real soon! Hopefully, you can enjoy the weekend now that it's here. It sounds like at least you have a job...just different. Hope it all works out. I was in a position 2 years ago, where 2,000 salaried jobs at WDW were eliminated...my position was (even with 13 years with WDW and great yearly reviews). It turns out it was all for the best. With my severance package, all the personal stuff, I was able to get back part-time, all my time bridged, so it was like I never left. In fact, July 7th I will celebrate 15 years with Walt Disney World!

Our AC stopped working last night, and living in FL, that's not fun at all, but at least we had our electricity so we had fans going. We thought it was the thermostat, but it turns out, the safety on it worked as we had a blockage in our line. BIL came over with a spare thermostat to fix, but discovered we had an issue in the line. he got it cleared, and we have dropped from 89 in the house to 82...sleeping will be better tonight. The best part is the safety thing worked and it shut off so we didn't have water seeping into our walls from our 2nd floor AC unit!

DD has a bday party tomorrow morning, and then an end of the year disco party tomorrow night...busy day for us. So thankful I was able to give my shift away for tomorrow!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Stephanie

It stinks having weeks like this. Just keep thinking Mickey Mouse, nice cruise, soft waves, sandy beach will all be here before you know it.

 Sorry to hear about power outages, illnesses, etc. I hope all are better now

when we were on a Halloween cruise in 2002 we planned a photo op of all the DISers in costume taken by Shutters so anyone who wanted it could buy it.

We had a TorT-ing around the DIS cabins. Anyone who wanted to participate signed up, it was scheduled on the sea day afternoon, kids only got treats. One DISer made the schedule and route and posted notes on doors of about what time the mob would arrive so we did not have to stay on our stateroom all afternoon. Only participating cabins were included. Neighboring cabins were visited sequentially so the mob of kids did not zig zag all over the ship. They were done before the first show or early dinner seating.

Adults had costumes too and there was a judging in the evening for the whole ship. What we should have done was to share our costume ideas instead of keeping them secret from each other as we did not see all the costumes due to the crowdedness of the judging and we might have won prizes if we had grouped ourselves. DH and I were a mature Snow White and the King (by our age we figured he would be king but then again, Charles is not King yet). Another family were dwarfs and if I recall correctly a few other kids were dwarfs. If we had been introduced together we could have had 7 dwarves with us and looked more coordinated.

They had the viewing and judging in the atrium and I think the big theater would be better, especially with the big screens so everyone can sit comfortably, view everyone and process across the stage in an orderly manner.

With the talk of the ticket price increase I am down to the wire on deciding our exact pre-cruise plans.
We know we are doing MNSSHP, but I just looked at the dates and Fri (which I was planning on doing) is $10 pp more than Thursday night! Guess we will do Thursday. We only reserved Fri and Sat pm at CBR but I guess I better call back and add Thursday!
I just can't decide if I want to do park tickets and go to the parks Fri and Sat or just hang out by the pool and do DTD. Also can't decide if I want to switch to a 1 bdrm villa.
It makes me very sad to think of not going to the parks this year other than MNSSHP.
What are all of your plans?

hey everyone hows the weekend going for me great I went to happyhour friday poolside then got to babysit my awesome nephews and Saturday me and my MIL(happytime) went out on a motorcycle ride and lunch and on the ride we went into a scrapbook store in the town we were in and it got me back into scrapbooking so the first thing i do is go to joannes which has alot of sale and clearence stuff and now i cant wait to start the scrapping again and finish my 2010 western carribean book and also start on the pages soon for the scrap event that happytime is putting together for the disers. OOH how i missed scrapping!! hope everyones wkend is going well i just wanted to say hi and see how everyone is doing! :):):cool1::cool1::cool1::goodvibes

The Fri-Sat "hard-ticket" event tickets are always more, and they are ALWAYS more crowded! If you can swing it, Thursday night parties are so much better!

Since we live near Orlando and both DH and I work at WDW, we will be heading to Port Canaveral on Sat 10/29, staying at CI & S, and enjoying dinner at Rusty's. We are also taking a 3-night cruise in August on RCCL, and we have 2 nights booked before that one at CI & S too. We are going to make a 5 day vacation out of our 3 night cruise...heading to Kennedy Space Center in Aug, and probably Oct. The price for an annual pass is only $10 more pp than a 1 day ticket.

I was researching excursions for our 3 night on RCCL in Aug, since we are heading to Nassau then as well. We have been to Nassau quite a few times, and aren't planning an excursion in Oct while on the Dream, as we plan on staying on and enjoying the ship. I found an excursion on RCCL that we may just book...it's a pirate museum with fort adventure...different than what I see on DCL. Anyone done something like that in Nassau?

Good Monday morning everyone. First Monday with no school for DD. DH is off, and I don't go in to work until 3pm. We enjoyed sleeping in! It was 8:40am before I got up, and the other 2 followed. What a nice treat! DD enjoyed a great 1st night of Vacation Bible School at my parent's church...it was good to see many of their friends, and they were thrilled to see Kayla! My mom passed away almost a year ago (6/25, and my dad followed her on 11/9). It's nice to have their church family, as well as ours, reach out and embrace us! Here's to a great week ahead!

thanks Stephanie. Yes I still have *a* job but once the changes are made to it, I'm not certain how long I'll stay because I don't like the nature of the position (basically it turns into a dumping ground for all the work no one else wants to do). I worked too hard to get where I am, to have the department trivialize what I do. The economy isn't that bad here in Canada and I'm confident once I start looking that I'll find something better in my current salary range performing work I can be proud of.

It stinks having weeks like this. Just keep thinking Mickey Mouse, nice cruise, soft waves, sandy beach will all be here before you know it.

Yeah - I know - just keep thinking "Cruise". Course all that makes me want to do is book a cheap Carnival Cruise for sometime between now and October .

Hopefully the cable and internet will be back on tonight. When the cable company arrived on Saturday they wouldn't touch the line because there were still some branches in the backyard. The guy actually said, "As long as there is one branch on the ground, one leaf out of place, I'm not going back there.". At least when I called to reschedule I got an awesome customer service agent who was able to schedule me for tonight after work and assured me that if there were still some leaves on the ground, the technition he's scheduled will indeed go into the backyard!

I don't need to skip all the way ahead to October but at least September would be great! :rotfl:

I was on the Disney Magic last Halloween and some of the Disers put together a similar trick or treat event for the kids. It was a lot of work for them though. I guess it would come down to having someone willing to organize the event (and figuring out how to buy & transport the candy - or if each participating cabin would bring their own type of candy).

I don't think we are dressing up on the ship this year. Last year the costume finalists were up on the step in from of Lumiere's in the atrium (on the Magic). Because my mom is in a wheelchair there was no way she could have been a finalist (because of the step and lack of ramp). My rule is if I'm with my mom, and she can't participate in something she'd like to (because of the wheelchair), then I don't either.

I'm just glad she never really like going swimming because I practically lived in the pool on our last DCL cruise.

What are all of your plans?

Last year we had planned to go to the parks for 1 or two days before the cruise but then I changed my mind since I was concerned about the heat and getting a sunburn and just generally being too tired to enjoy the first day or so of the cruise. We're driving down and staying at the Holiday Inn Express in Cocoa Beach (at least that's what I have booked right now!). We'll just have dinner somewhere in the area and get a good night's sleep before boarding the ship.

I'm still undecided about whether we should show up at the port super early (like 10:30am) or late (like 1:00pm)? Anyone else thinking about that yet?

Sounds like a great week-end! I used to love scrapping as well. The only thing that really stops me from joining the scrap event is that I don't think I could make the same page several times. Whenever I try to do the same thing a few times, they all end up very different (even when I try to make them all the same).

I went through my scrap stuff on the week-end (to look for some appropriate stuff to use on my FE gifts) and was amazed at the amount of stuff I've collected!

Howdy everyone,

Just a quick note to say we will be gone for several days, maybe 10 or so camping so I wont be around for awhile. If we get any new people while I'm gone please tell them about the CM and FE list. I know I wont be going back over 10 or 12 days worth of posts. I will be too tired.

I just need a few fresh food items and I am all ready to go!! I looked on line for the weather up in the mountains where we are going and it said 80 degrees:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: Its raining here!

I am so ready for some sunshine.

Have a good couple weeks and I will post when we get back,

Kathy

well this will be my first time trying to create a page more then once like u i dont know how to make one page look the same so it will be fun trying and another thing is im so use to placing my pictures first then working around that so to do everyones page is going to be a challenge but excited to try. I am suppose to do pirates which i havent done before yet cause i havent finished my last section of the cruise from when we went last halloween. As for FE i am still trying to decide what i want to do for that yet.
