Wow, no limit, I was wondering about that. Maybe you shouldn't have told me, LOL!!! I've been on one other 4 day cruise on RCL and the rooms were so small my luggage took up way to much space. I'm really going to try and be good this time. I keep telling myself there is a laundry room.
And yes, I'm only around 25 minutes away from the port. What is a good time to arrive? I just completed my online registration today and the earliest port arrival time available was 12:00 - 12:30pm. I thought that seemed like a good time, what do you think?
Although the
DCL cabins are bigger then other cruise lines, you still need to get a little creative with where to store your luggage and stuff. I empty my luggage and use all the drawers, closet and steamer trunk space. I put my clothes in see through sealable bags. All of one kind, i.e. shorts, tops, night gowns, socks in each bag. It makes finding stuff, packing and unpacking so much easier. If you can put empty luggage in other luggage that is good. I move the life jackets from the top of the closet to under the bed, at the end of the bottom of the bed so they are easy to get if needed. The large luggage I put under the bed. Some luggage I put on the shelf in the closet where the life jackets were.
Speaking of closets, DCL give you lots and lots of pretty nice hangers, and multiple kinds. Your room stewart will bring more if you need them.
I have a long list of things we have learnt about making a stay in a DCL cabin more comfortable. Some of them we learnt on our own, but much I've been told by other generous DISboard folks. I am a neat nut, drive my Bob crazy picking up stuff and moving them as he puts them down (he knows if he isn't careful I'll put his coffee cup in the dishwasher before he can refill it). So, he gets the top of one piece of furniture, usually the steamer trunk. I ask him to 'dump' his stuff there and he knows if he is looking for something he dropped some place else, I have moved it to there, no matter what it is.
Everyone has there own idea on when to arrive at the port. Some people want to get there and be the first to get on the boat. If you want to try and purchase an upgrade, get there early. If you need to change a reservation or hope to get one, get there early. But be prepared to wait in line and just wait. You are not going to get into your room until 1:30 or 2:00 so you will be dragging your carry-ons around with you. Some people want to get to the pool and grab that lounge and start their vacation. Others NEED those cold shrimp at the buffet, which closes at 3:00. If you get there later, 2:00 or so, you usually can almost walk right on to the ship. If crowds and lines bother you, this is the way to go. Of course, stuff happens, computers go down, security screening machines can screwup so be prepared to just go with the flow.
