October 30, 2011 Wonder - A Haunting on the High Seas

I'm fairly certain what I'm about to say is the same for loading luggage onto the ship, but I've never witnessed it:

Once houskeeping crew members have your bags on the last night, they're loaded into these big steel crate thingys on wheels. Once the crates are full of suitcases, they're taken down to deck one (the main passage for the crew to get around on our decks) and strapped to the walls & there they wait to be unloaded to the dock for guests to pick up when they debark.

So, I would for sure not put anything potentially breakable into your luggage & carry on & off by hand..

On a side note, the crates with luggage in them really help break your fall on your way back to your crew cabin from the crew bar on the last night of a cruise when the stabilizers are pulled in & we're haulin back up to Canaveral.. ;)

DH and I just changed our minds about our excursions! I've been reading through the MR port adventures thread and after seeing the website for Vallarta Adventures I realized I liked the look of the zipling course in PV WAY better than the one in Cabo so we are now doing the very active Outdoor Adventure in PV with mule riding and zip lining and rappelling down waterfalls and we are going to do Cabo on our own one day and stay on the ship the second day. I think we will head to The Office or Mango for Day 1 and then check out the spa discounts on day 2! :rotfl:

ADH (almost Disney Husband) & I will be doing the same thing! We switched our dolphin swim to Puerto because it was 40 min in the water! And we plan on sight seeing Cabo on the catamaran tour on Cabo day one & then spa'ing it up on Cabp day two! :)

So we'll both be checking the navigator for Cabo take 2 hoping for good discounts!

So is Jack!! He calls everyone "Sally" or "Mater". I ordered my FE from gradysmommy on ebay, but I haven't recieved them yet. They should be coming any day now... I also ordered a pillowcase for Jack and a tote for me to have signed!

I just wanted to add that I emailed her to see when my stuff would be shipped and she is out of town again. She will not be back till 9/19.

Hi there Everyone!!! Just checking back in - and wanted to say, "WELCOME" to the new members of this thread!! SOOO excited to cruise with all of you!!!

Hi Molly,
I just sent my payment via Paypal and I was wondering if the shirts come in infant sizes? I need a 12-18mo size. If not, can you just order another XS for me? Thanks!

HI! I recieved your payment and I will email my guy tomorrow about infant sizes and I will let you know what he says :thumbsup2

Hey guys, sorry I haven't been posting. Life is CRAZY.

Unfortunately, I am going to have to pull out from the fish extender because I simply do not have time to collect gifts and stuff for it.

I hope everyone has a great trip.

Lesa

Finally managing to sit down and read everything! :thumbsup2. Life is hectic since school and fall activities started again. I would like to do the FEs if it isn't too late. I am on my iPad right now so I will get on my laptop and do the spreadsheet later tonight.

My girls are very excited and are busy planning their costumes. We still need to book a hotel for the two nights before the cruise and figure out transportation with two little ones. And I am awaiting mine and my youngest daughter's passport. Should be any day. I had to make a long trip to get them renewed as they were expiring soon.

And finally last night I had insomnia and got to watch the Alaska bound cruise ships out of my bedroom window. We live on Vancouver Island and the ships have a narrow passage to get through so we get quite a show. I haven't seen the Wonder lately though. I must find out it's schedule to I can watch it go by!

Yeah, I got an email from her right after I submitted my order. Thanks for letting me know though :)

I can't believe it's getting so close! For Pirate night, I got Jack some pirate Pj's from Gymboree that look like a pirate costume. He has a pirate costume as well, I just haven't found it yet, so I am not sure if it fits still. Do you think he will be ok wearing th costume PJ's to dinner? If I find his costume from last year, I will just have him wear that, but I am just not sure it will, he's grown a lot!

Oh my goodness, it sure is getting close. I didn't even know about pirate night. I'm starting to feel a little anxiety because I am such an extreme packer I should probably have my own reality show! I just can figure out how I'm going to pack cool weather clothes, warm weather clothes, formal, semi formal, swim, halloween and now pirate costumes for a family of 5. Any ideas from more experienced cruisers? I'm thinking of skipping formal night to save room.

I try to pack things that can overlap certain nights. I wear a dress twice. Shoes that do double duty. I also did laundry in the little laundry room last time so I could pack less. Particularly with my kids clothes. But in reality I always overpack. Hoping to manage a little better this time.

Thanks for the helpful tips. That's a great idea about the shoes, maybe just a pair of black heels that can be dressed up or down. I think I'll pack for four days which for me means I'll probably have enough clothes for a week. I am glad to know there are laundry rooms on the ship. I'm still on the fence about formal night, is it really "formal", like a long gown and tux?

I think the pirate pjs will be fine at dinner. He'll look adorable!

I bought a gorgeous long dress for the cruise  I don't care what everyone else is wearing I want to go formal.

Well I found it all over the place. I personally don't have a long formal gown. I will likely wear a cocktail dress. My husband a shirt and tie(maybe I can persuade him to wear a jacket:rolleyes:). But some looked fancy and gorgeous. We have enough to pack with two little ones so it will be the best I can do!

I hope those pjs are ok? I bought those gymboree ones too !

I loved them, and I figured they would be perfect since we will be up late and when we get back to the room he can just brush teeth and crash! :lmao:

I think I will bring the dress I wore on our last cruise formal night, it was a bridesmaid dress from a wedding I was in in May. I am determined to get as much use out of it as possible!! :rotfl:

How formal do kids need to be? Jack has a button down shirt and a little tie, and some khaki pants... but not "formal" shoes. Will that matter? :confused3

I think they will be perfect. I am going to have Jack wear them for the party for sure, and probably to dinner since I really don't want to buy another pirate costume. He is going to get a different costume for Halloween, I just loved thos pj's, he hasn't even seen them yet, I am saving them for a surprise!

Speaking of formal wear here is my dress

I really wanted to do something other than black, and then I fell in  with this dress!
