Hello everybody, I hope you are all OK. My snorkelling stuff that I ordered for this trip arrived yesterday. We are going to Dubai in 10 days and I will give it a good test run then.

Arrangements for our vow renewal are nicely coming together, too. This will take the same day that we get off the ship. So I will be too busy to be excited about this to be sad to leave the Wonder.

A fantastic opportunity has come up. I have bought jewellery from a jewellery artist in New Hampshire for many years now and she usually makes me some custom pieces for each cruise. So it was planned all along that she would do the jewellery for my vow renewal. Over the weekend, she posted that she is looking for 5 brides for a major advertising campaign for her wedding jewelry, including a write up in Offbeat Bride. She gave 5 different themes for this and in return for the rights to use the photos, write about this and a testimonial for the bride, she offers to make the jewellery at a heavy discount. I have opted for an ocean theme, which seems very fitting considering the tie in with a cruise. I am so excited to be part of this.

My supplies for one of my Fish Extender gifts arrived yesterday. I have a day off tomorrow and will start working on them then.

We are currently booked on the Sept 25 Wonder cruise, but just found out that our kids' fall break has been moved from Sept to October, so this cruise just might work for us. Unfortunately, the prices have gone up.
This looks like a fun group! We have a big family (5 kids, 7 of us total)
We will for sure want to participate in all the FE's, scavenger hunts, secret Mickey's etc!
I'll let you know when we hear back from our TA. Hopefully there will still be adjoining rooms available.
This is our first ever Disney cruise, and my kids first ever cruise, so it should be "Wonder"ful!

I must say I have never done FE before and I am extremely intimidated by the craftiness and creativity of the DIS Family. It is a bit frightening.

How exciting for you! Where are you doing your vow renewal? I assumed it was on the ship.

Originally we were booked for a vow renewal on the Wonder. A dear friend of mine was booked on this cruise and her family was going to be a big part of the vow renewal. They ended up having to cancel, other friends had to cancel, too and another couple who I really wanted there could not afford to book the cruise after crunching numbers for months. In the end, we decided that we were not willing to pay the amount that Disney charges for a vow renewal for just the two of us. It also would have been terribly wasteful as we still would have had a full size cake, etc. So we decided to cancel. Part of the decision was also that DFTW are an absolute nightmare to deal with.

For me, the subject of the vow renewal was closed with this. I had already bought my dress, shoes, etc and I wanted to show this to Graham just to remove the temptation to have another go at this at another time. However, he refused to see the dress. We had decided to have a vacation in Dubai and buy new wedding bands there and leave it at this.

Suddenly Graham mentioned that maybe we should reconsider Crystal Cathedral. When we originally discussed a vow renewal a long time before we cruised for the first time, we had planned that when we eventually get around to this, it would be at Crystal Cathedral. When Graham brought this up, I just ignored his suggestion. I suppose at the time I was just too upset to look at other options. About a week later, I suddenly felt myself drawn to the Crystal Cathedral website. I remembered just how much I love this place. I had a look at the wedding parts and decided it cannot do any harm to send an email to their wedding coordinator. I did not really think that something would ever come off it. Well, I could not have been more wrong. Their wedding coordinator is an absolute pleasure to deal with and she really worked with me. We agreed on a very simple ceremony in the office of one of the pastors, but we can take photos in the grounds for as long as we want afterwards. I am now in touch with the pastor directly and I have also reached out to a photographer in Garden Grove.

I must say I have never done FE before and I am extremely intimidated by the craftiness and creativity of the DIS Family. It is a bit frightening.

Don't be scared. There are people around that make their own FE gifts and I am one of them as I enjoy making stuff. However, the majority of things that we have received were not home-made. We have received things like a Disney Dollar in an envelope signed by the characters, magnets, temporary tattoos, candy, glow sticks, Disney themed pencils, various gifts personalized with the cruise dates, state quarters, post cards, pins and other souvenirs from the place where or fellow cruisers come from, survival bags with things like band aids, rubber bands, safety pins, highlighter, moist wipes, etc. It does not have to be complicated or expensive.

It is back to work for me today. I should have had another day off today, but we have a Call Quality Focus day at work today and I have to go in for half a day. For that I only have to work half a day on Saturday. I am now working 8 days in a row. On my next day off, I am going to Dubai for our vacation. I can't wait.

I have just posted the Cabo San Lucas installment of my trip report. DH has threatened me that I would not be allowed to go to Dubai unless the trip report from our last vacation is finished. So far I have been working on it for 3 months. I just have the last sea day and out day in Los Angeles to go and then it will be finished. This should be doable.

I got a bunch of gift certificates to spend so I will head into town after work today to spend them.

I will be off to work shortly. Today will be day 4 out of 8 in a row, but it is only 5 more days until I am off to Dubai for my vacation.

I finished the first batch of Fish Extender gifts for the ladies on the cruise yesterday and I am hoping that I will get the ones for the girls done today. I know that I will probably end up having to do more nearer the time, but that is fine. The idea is to get 10 of everything done now and then I can do more as and when I need them. I am really please on how they have come out. I might do something different for the teenage girls. I am kind of pondering doing a smaller version of what I have done for the ladies, but I make this decision when I come back from Dubai.

This is our family's first ever Disney Cruise (we love Disneyland), and have wanted to cruise for so long!

Also, my SIL, her DH, and boys 8,5 and 3
We are already getting started on our FE gifts! Have some really fun ideas! I love crafts, so this is going to be so much fun!

Well, the suitcase is packed and the alarm clock will go off shortly. I just have to pack my carry on and then I am ready to head for the airport. We are getting so excited about the FE's! Already started our gifts, and am working at making our fish extender.
We have my husband and I and our 5 kids ... so I am worried that our FE will be too long ... (or too heavy)?
Working on the FE's sure is a nice way to help the time to pass ... October just seems too far away!
It doesn't seem like we will have that many in our FE group ... for those of you seasoned DISers ... will there be lots more to add to the list?
Also just finished a couple of pillowcases for my girls to turn in for Character signatures ... I saw that someone else had done that and think it is such a fun idea! They want to use them now, but I told them they have to wait!
So glad to have these boards ... they have been so helpful in planning our trip! Any extra advice that you think would help our family not miss a thing ... would be great!
