Good afternoon all.....
I just wish we could find something similar on St Marten. There is a Joyce Prince who does tours but she is booked for our date....oh well. I guess we will find something to do. If all else fails we will do the under 2 flags tour for the morning and hit a beach somewhere in the afternoon. Plenty of time to get back to the ship on St Marten day.

Oh well back to work, have a good one!!!!

Kim

You can do the DUCK TOURS that we are doing( see below about it..it takes you all over the island with plenty of time for sightseeing/shopping after) and its a GREAT RATE too*

A complaint accuses Norwegian Cruise Line's Hawaii staff of reusing fruit garnishes, suggesting passengers cut up bath towels to make hand towels and using unlined garbage cans for ice. Blue World Travel Corp., a San-Francisco-based travel agency, is seeking damages from Norwegian for a charter cruise last summer aboard the Pride of Aloha that resulted in a class-action lawsuit against the travel agency. Issues include: A few passengers were asked to fill in for crew and take ID photos at the embarkation check-in; Some passengers were told they were eating too much food and at one event were rationed to one slice of pizza; Beds were reportedly made up with dirty linen, with some guests encountering items from previous guests; Passengers who reported dirty, foul-smelling bathrooms were told to pour water down the toilets to make them flush; Some passengers reported a shortage of food on the cruise, and some said the company served moldy and bruised fruit and reused fruit garnishes; Passengers said there were not enough life jackets and that there were other safety violations such as water on the dining room floor, malfunctioning fire doors and broken glass left around

WOW!!! Thank god for DCL!~

HOLY SHEESHHH! That's bad. I've heard really bad things about that line, but man! That's really bad. and GROSS!!!

You're right - thank heavens for DCL!!!

Excursions: St. Maarten - Nada; St. Thomas - renting a boat and cruising St. Johns; Castaway Cay - teens are doing Wild Side and we're doing Nada. I'm sure it'll be fine. There are plenty of things to do right off the ship. Just have an *idea* of what you want to do (i.e., shop, drink, go to a beach, tour the island, etc.). Excursions aren't necessary and DCL excursions are pretty expensive when you consider the cost as a 'per person'. A beach excursion will run at least $39/person whereas you could get a taxi to that same beach for $10/person roundtrip, a chair and a tropical drink for $5/person, and spend the rest on souvenirs. The only thing you really get from DCL is peace of mind that the boat won't leave without you (even that has its own slight risk, though). Just my meezly $.02 to throw out there. ;)

DCL Press Release:

On October 1, the Disney Magic will sail to the Norshipco shipyard in Norfolk, Va. for a two-week dry dock period, during which new guest experiences and venues will be added.

* Disney Cruise Line will introduce another cruise industry first with its Vista Spa and Salon expansion, which will include three specially designed indoor/outdoor spa treatment suites. Each suite will feature an indoor spa treatment room that is connected to a private outdoor verandah – complete with personal hot tub and open air shower. With beautiful ocean vistas and warm tropical breezes, the new treatment suites will provide guests with a romantic getaway into a tranquil oasis without ever leaving the ship.

* Adding to the already expansive offerings for children, Disney Cruise Line is transforming three conference rooms on deck 2 of the Disney Magic into a brand new hang-out for kids called Ocean Quest. Ocean Quest will feature a scaled replica of the ship’s bridge with simulation games that will allow children to steer a cruise ship in and out of ports around the world.

* Additionally, Disney Magic guests will soon be able to enjoy poolside movies on a brand-new, state-of-the-art jumbo LED screen on deck 9. Affixed to the forward funnel, the 24-by-14-foot screen will show movies along with major sporting and broadcast events. The enormous screen will also enhance outdoor entertainment and deck parties in and around the Goofy, family pool area.

* A new interactive shore excursion at Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay, will immerse guests into the amazing underwater world of stingrays. In partnership with marine animal experts from the Living Seas at Epcot, Disney Cruise Line created a stingray sanctuary adjacent to the teen beach at Castaway Cay. The 60-minute experience called Castaway Ray’s Stingray Adventure includes an educational orientation loaded with interesting facts and tidbits about stingrays, hands-on interaction, and free-time to snorkel in the stingray lagoon. Castaway Ray’s Stingray Adventure is scheduled to open late September.

* Disney Cruise Line has new itineraries for guests to choose from in 2006. First, a seven-night itinerary is being added that stops at Castaway Cay twice during the cruise. Beginning May 27 and running through Dec. 9, 2006, the Disney Magic will embark on this alternate western Caribbean itinerary, every fourth week, calling twice at Castaway Cay and adding a new port of call, Costa Maya, coupled with a stop at Cozumel and two days at sea. For the Disney Wonder, two special cruises are planned – one 10-night and one 11-night cruise, both sailing to the Southern Caribbean. This marks the first time Disney has offered cruises longer than three- or four-nights aboard the Disney Wonder. The Southern Caribbean itinerary includes ports such as St. Thomas, St. Lucia, Barbados, Antigua and St. Kitts. Barbados and St. Kitts are new ports of call for Disney Cruise Line. The 10-night cruise will depart on Sept. 7, and the 11-night cruise departs on Sept. 17, 2006.

Yes, I'm still lurking here! :smooth:

Sue Ellen - what is the latest that you can book with the newer security regulations? Kathy starts her PT next week and we're being optimistic but still don't want to take any chances. :sunny:

DCL generally will not book any closer than 2 weeks before the cruise. I have heard people say they have booked closer, but that's what we are told when booking.

I hope things work out and you can cruise (and that FL resident rates will open up.) we are just over 6 weeks away and nothing, so it doesn't look good. They have not even offered TA rates on any October sailing.

Gee whiz!!! Forgot to add that I hope Kathy's shoulder is doing better. If I could get everything typed at one time I would be dangerous. :)

:wave2: Hey all! :wave2:

Had a great time at Disneyland and now catching up on several pages of great info and questions.

Beano: Does the new dock really present a problem for planning outings?

We have nothing booked as far as excursions, Palo, ....nada. Going to make the Palo dash when we board. Do I need to rethink and do a DCL excursion to make it easier.

Gotta go - semi just pulled up with our new wine refrigerator

OMG....my friend is on that cruise as we speak!!!!

Yikes.....I hope she doesn't encounter any of those problems.

Morning!

Thanks for the get well wishes..I feel better but Rick is REALLY still sick..he has had it for over a week and is missing teaching a class today because he just can't stand let alone teach Advanced Cardiac Life Support! LOL..he may need it himself
You just remind Rick that it is a kinder, gentler, ACLS than it use to be... so much so, I am ready for them to bring back the golden rule....

If he really is missing it, maybe we can hold a course on deck 7 aft some night.

Cheri - if getting to Paradise Point is no problem... can you imagine that we'll really CARE how we get back?? :rotfl2: J/K

I just don't like the idea of docking 'way over yonder'. It's further to Red Hook. It's further to Paradise Point. It's further to Havensight Mall. Nothing is within walking distance.

It's not where Beano wishes to be. :sad2:

Lynne - You HAD to say it, didn't you. Had to throw the "Palo's" remark in there. Fine. See if I save you any extra Sweet Pizza. :teeth:

'Beano'

Beano, Beano, buddy, pal  ....sweet pizza please???? Remember, I was sick like Betsy was, it was just the drugs talkin man. Come on now, ya know I am jonesing for the stuff man!!.........I agree about the dock situation though.

It's been raining for almost 3 hours now here in good ole Myrtle Beach..... :umbrella:

Betsy: Love my passporter too, glad you are better.

Barb: Don't worry about not planning too much, they always seem to have room for 1 more on most of the excursions (probably because they are so overpriced, IMO, don't anyone flame me please I think that about all the lines, not just DCL) and once you get on board, you may decide you do't want to do much of anything but eat and drink, ooops wait, that's me :rotfl:

Trent: Only Stitch was on our last cruise. Maybe they sometimes have trouble finding someone who looks enough like Lilo, whereas Stitch was in a costume and it didn't matter what the person looked like.

Shauna: If Chicken Little is premiering while we are on the ship, it is my understanding that they always premiere the picture on both of the ships the day before it comes out anywhere else. When we went before it was Haunted Mansion they premiered on the boat. If you look back on page 157, I gave everyone the movies (which I know everyone was just so facinated by... :sad2: ) that are playing on the Magic right now, which of course are subject to change.

It just keeps getting more exciting the closer we get doesn't it?? :Pinkbounc :cheer2: :bounce:

Tenor :rolleyes1

Sorry about the double post tonite, but I think we are just way too far down on the page, trying to BUMP us up!!!!

Also, TiggerandPoo: You said you were using your points for this cruise. If the info is not too personal, can you tell me how many points you need for a 7 day cruise?

Tenor

hey gang,
when you send me pictures for the photo album (hint, hint, hint), try and send close ups so we can see your beautiful faces. :earseek:

Good morning everyone!!!!!!

Just checking in and want to see my ticker....wahooooo. 6 weeks today for me.... :dancer: :jumping1:

How many of our California friends lost power yesterday???? I saw some of the footage on the news it must have took forever to get home from work. :wizard:

I am beginning to be very jealous of not getting Palo ressie when I had the chance, actually I would really like the Brunch do they hold those for ressies on board also??? :boat:

Ronnie: I think it was you who mentioned buying alcohol and bringing it on board, do they not take it from you when you come back on the ship???? We have friend who have done RCCL and they had to give the stuff up when they got on board and got it back on the final day???

Well better get to work, hope you all have a great day. :grouphug:

Kim

Morning!! 44 days...44 days!! AGH!! My weekends are starting to fill up...Shopping, trip to Tampa for a baby shower...hope it makes the time pass quicker!

Cheri - email address?

 Kim...

As far as I know you don't have your liquor taken from you. We have bought beer in port before and just walked on with it. Now, it may be different if you are purchasing "a lot" of alcohol. As for the specific amount you are allowed, your customs form in your docs should list it.

Happy Tueaday!

HUgs,

RonnieJo :flower:

ps. Hey Kim! by the way, no power loss here. Los Angeles lost it (thats about 4 hours from me) what is the time difference up yonder in your part of Canada??

R & B
I had a dream last night that I was talking to someone about the Roy and Walt suite and they wer complaining about how loud the noise was from above...I was so concerned for you..LOL!! Whoever this "person" was said it was terrible, blah blah blah and I was trying to make him understand that you had stayed in them before and if there was a problem, I was sure you would already know..truth be told..the guy was a real dork!!
I do have arguments in my dreams with TOTALLY non existent people....I know, I need help!

 Betsy....

:rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2:

Thanks for my morning chuckle! Dreams can be SO weird!!! Mine never seem to make any sense, so at least yours are consistent and have a theme!! :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2:

DS is sick.....UGH!! what to do, what to do. I'm hoping that he doesn't have a fever and can make it to school. English presentation is due today.

Hugs,

RonnieJo :flower:
