We have a group of 9 and are doing a Peter Pan theme (I FINALLY get to be Tinkerbell)  We were thinking of doing Toy Story, but we didn't want to lug bulky costumes on board. I don't think it is dorky at all to do Disney costumes...afterall, it IS a Disney cruise :earsboy:

I know it is a bit belated, but Happy Birthday to Kaitlyn :bday:

Also, welcome to all the newbies :wave2: ...who are not so new anymore because I have been off the board for too long :confused3 I'll never take another weekend off again :sad2:

 Hi All...

Found this and thought you all might like to have a look (I figure that some of our newbies may not know about this update)

2005 Drydock Plans
The Disney Magic will be in drydock October 1-14, 2005. During the 14-night Westbound Panama Canal cruise (May 14-28, 2005), Tom McAlpin, President of Disney Cruise Line, gave a presentation to passengers and mentioned that the following changes will be made to the Magic during drydock this fall:

A Jumbotron screen will be added on one of the stacks so that Disney can offer movie nights at the pool and multimedia presentations during deck parties.
The fitness room will be expanded by extending the floor out over the bridge, which will double the room for workout equipment.
Part of the Spa will be reworked to create more couples treatment rooms.
The conference rooms will be transformed into a kids' space with an interactive "bridge" that allows kids to pretend they are sailing and docking a cruise ship.
Also, Castaway Cay will be getting a "swim with stingrays" program that is expected to open in Fall 2005.

I would LOVE for the stingray program to be up and running when we are there!!!! Let's cross our fingers!!!

Hugs,

RonnieJo :flower:

Hey SueEllen : Do you know, or could you find out which water park will be open when we get back. Cassie wants to go to Blizzard Beach so bad ,b ut I read that it is closed through November.

Ginger : Thanks for the tips ! You old pro ! :cheer2:

2 Questions.....HUbby wants to be sure there is AC In the rooms( we LOVE to sleep in the VERY COLD-we keep our AC on ALL WINTER LOL)

AND how does the TIPPING WORK? I know the suggested Figures..BUT Who do you tell WHAT you wnat to give each person, when do you do this etc..

Thanks :confused3

Rachel - Yes, there is AC in every room. Let 'er rip. :cold:

Towards the end of the cruise, you'll get envelopes and a form to fill out. One envelope each for your room steward, head server, server, and assistant server. First, you fill out the form
indicating how much you want to tip each of them. Then, you take that to guest services and they charge your account appropriately. Then they give you print-outs with those amounts coded onto them, and you put those inside the envelopes and give them to each person.
The form lists a suggested amount for each person, but you can tip whatever you want. For us, (a family of 4), tipping for the week usually runs about $350.00.

I have an Idea...If anyones interested...

We can have like a scavenger hunt/trick or treat...

I can make magnets with clues...Ex:

You all start at Room....2012

Then from there...they have to read the magnets to get to the next room..I think they will like it..

Also...

Please Tell us if any of the kids have allergies, so we dont buy candy they cant have...

Just trying to make the kids have a great time./...and the adults too..

Maybe..The Adults can have a beer or wine at every stop..hahahah

Bobby

I think this is a great idea.. we will have 5 kids for TOT rooms 8540 and 7544...

now we just need a head count for candy and another for beer/wine

As hard as it was, we had to cancel today.

DW fell and dislocated her shoulder at a local water park last night. It was not the 1st time and when she last saw a doctor for it (7 years ago!), she was told that surgery was the only way to repair it and yesterday finally drove it home for her. Surgery is scheduled for the 23rd of this month and she will be in an imobilizer brace for 4 weeks after the surgery and out of action for at least 10 weeks total.
We were looking forward to meeting you all and if all goes well, we may try to rebook when it is closer and we have a better idea of how DW is doing. Thank you all for making us feel welcome and we hope that you have a Magical cruise!
We are so sorry to hear of the injury.. Surgery is never fun... hope all goes well for you all.

I'm going to miss all the great fun of T-or-T aboard the Magic this year.
I've been lurk on your thread to see if you've got anything going on yet.
I didn't see a list of t-or-t'ers post yet, are you going to do one for the "DIS" children.
We had such a great time in the past doing this our groups got bigger and bigger every year. Last year we had so many that we had to divide the children into 5 groups starting a different group on each deck that had staterooms. My DH and I copied the ship deck maps enlarged them and then outlined and numbered the staterooms first to hit and so on till we got to the last one on that deck then off to the next deck. We had two group leaders for each group one to lead and one to follow each leader had a paddle that we held up that stated we were the "DIS" a private group. Each head group lead had a map for each deck that had staterooms to visit. Because we had the 5 groups( 10 to 12 children in each group) each set of maps had to have a different starting deck. As I recall the paddles were made out of 2 paint stirrers and poster board in the shape of Mickey's head, they worked great.

We've had people sneak in to the groups in the past. They saw us in the lobby and just joined in thinking it was a Disney event.

I did post a closing date for signing up so that we had a finally head count for those making goodie bags.

It's a good idea to have your T-or-T in the morning since Disney usually has theirs in the afternoon. I'm sure they have been lurking here to see what you've got planned. So you'd beter get started on this if your going to have one.
BTW Disney's costume contest in the past has always start around 10 p.m.. I think they are going more for the adults on this but I've always seen children in it but with a family theme. You'll see alot of Chimney Sweep families, Scooby-Doo and the Gangs, Pirates of the Caribbean and so on.

Hope I helped, I'll be lurking.

I'm off the start getting ready for our next Disney cruise on Aug 20, YEAH!!!! The big one that brings her home.

Trick-or-Treat y'all pirate:

Thank you soooo much for your input, Ginger. It really does help.

I was wondering, Ronnie ("Master of the List :earsgirl: ), do you have a list of staterooms and the participants? Also, is there a website or something that we can use to keep track of this information and keep up to date. Otherwise, either LuckeyLasVegas, DisneyDmbNut, Matty or I could place the list on the first page (where we already have a post we can edit) to make it easy to reference to. I suppose the next question is, since we have so many people involved it makes sense to begin delegating jobs now for a smoother, more organized ToT'g experience on the ship. Some jobs would be making the magnets for the cabin doors, as was wisely suggested, making the paddles, separating the groups, etc. I would also suggest we have an additional meet aboard the ship since some people may not be able to meet at the one scheduled time/place for varied reasons (unable to find the group, may need to take care of potential problems with DCL, have family emergencies, etc.). I also think Ginger's suggestion of having it in the morning is very wise, yet, let's try to have it end by noon (brunches, lunches, younger kids may be getting tired/cranky).

The date is getting close and we'll all need plenty of time to get going with whatever job we're delegated with so we can do a great job on it. There's so much to do and so little time. (and that's a GOOD thing!!!)

My daughters agreed to post on the teen thread starting next week.

:Pinkbounc Stateroom numbers :Pinkbounc

LuckeyLasVegas
Princessdisneygina
SueEllen
Tarzanman
MoranClan

So, who else gets the AllEars weekly newsletter? In this weeks it said that the CC stingray swim will be starting in late Sept. Wouldn't that be great? My DW and I wanted to do it when we were planning on a western cruise (had to change to eastern do to school break change) but both kids seemed terrified at the thought. At least on CC they can go to the clubs while we see the stingrays. Cool.

Hi All:
Ronnie Jo we don't have a room # yet as we are booked under GTY , but we make the final payment today. Now all we need is a little faith , trust and Tink dust and to get upgraded. Keep your fingers crossed for us.

Where the heck is Cougar ? I guess he really is in love. The friends are the first to go.

79 degrees in Vegas in August :umbrella: :cool1: I hope this lucky weather holds out through October.

Trish : you sound like the take charge kind of person we need, tell me what you want me to do and I'll do it.

Hey everyone,

Luckey, I am in the same boat...or ship....lol We are booked under a GTY also but are for sure to get at least a Cat 11 as we have 4 in our party. I check online everyday but nothing....lol

Sign me us as well Trish, I would love to do what I can to help out.

Still working on my packing list...I just hope I have enough suitcases. If I am not mistaken we are each allowed 2 suitcases and 1 carry on is that correct??? Would the garmet bag count as a carry on ....I hope so cause I will have 3 maybe 3 of those.....yikes.....can't I wear shorts to formal night....lol just kidding.....I can't wait to get a picture of my family all dressed up.

Still haven't decided on a rental car or car service. DH keeps reminding me the money we save can go towards more bling bling....man he knows how to get to me....I guess after being together 23 years and married 18 he should...lol

My smilies aren't working so that is why all my lol's.

Have a great day all

Kim

nothing is working for me and I keep getting prompted to "log on to wdwinfo" anyone else having this problem? or do I have ANOTHER virus/trojan/creepy comptuer thingy?
