ASTROS WIN!!! ASTROS WIN!!! Last year when we were at MK they had the Red Sox balloons on mainstreet. It would be so cool to see the Astro's ballons there. But that is way too early. Houston could use some good news after Rita and the too excellent Texans' performance.

No Beano (the Body man your new name) my dad passed away Oct 12, 2003..remember..Fran wasn't sure if she was going to make the cruise that October. I just meant it was a Sunday night...aside from being around dead people it must be interesting to work in a funeral home
TOTALLY get the humor thing..DH is a paramedic/firefighter...very warped sense od humor because it is the best way to deal with everything he sees.

Ok, well just wanted to make sure I didn't strike a nerve and git branded as an insensitive jerk.

I am really a VERY sensitive jerk! :earboy2:

Yes, our sense of humor is our biggest defense mechanism (that and alcohol I suppose!!). We just have to make sure we're careful of when and where and how we express it. :flower: Many people, understandably, wouldn't understand.

LOL< I use mine DAILY and EVEN on the KIDS clothes AND :ssst: Dont tell the GANG BUT i also AM packing a Travel iron :rolleyes1

LOL--don't bother with the travel iron. You can't use it in the cabins, but DCL does have an iron you can use in the laundry room. DCL prohibits using irons in the staterooms. I send our clothes to the cleaner for pressing on the ship since it's reasonable.

Can you use a steamer in the room?

Ps..I ironed about half of Kate's closet today! She always looks more pressed than I do!

Where is Soccerdad-Chris... come in Chris Winos want to know.
OK folks, I just spent the last 3 hours reading this weekends' posts (most from Tarzanman, in the middle of the night, with no one else signed on). Anyway, there was a call for me to tell you what I know about the only subject I seem qualified to opine on: drinking wine on the Magic!! :cool1: :cool1:

First, carry-on wine: Our experience is that you can bring as much wine on board with you as you can carry, as long as you don't bring a cooler on board. Mickey no likey coolers!!! The operative word in the first sentence is "carry". Do not put wine in your checked luggage: trust Soccerdad on this one. A broken bottle of really good wine and a $215 on-board dry cleaning bill on our first Disney cruise is my proof!! But don't literally carry the stuff on: make sure you have some nice rolley luggage that wine fits into, and remember also that whatever you carry on will be with you for several hours while your room is being prepared. But, if you plan and execute your carry-on wine plan correctly, your in-room cupboard can look like this:

One last bit of advice about carry-on wine: wine is heavy, and if yer gonna lug it around for several hours, clear it through security, and generally go through the pain of dealing with it, then MAKE SURE IT'S GOOD WINE, ESPECIALLY IF YOU'RE GONNA BRING IT TO BEANO'S PARTY!! You won't have to worry too much about Beano drinking much of it, but RJ, Cheri, me, and it sounds like a bunch of others on this thread will really appreciate the effort.

OK, the Wine Package: We always buy the Premium Wine Package, but we never drink the wine that comes with it (sorry if that sounds a little snobby, but read on as to why). That's because all of the restaurants in the dining rotation have that "other" wine list that was mentioned, and it has far superior choices from the "regular" one. If you let your server know on the first night that you want to see the "real" wine list, they will know what you mean, and will bring it to you each night after that without being asked. When you order a bottle off of that list, they just credit the Premium Package amount towards that bottle, and you sign for the difference. You can also bring your own wine to the dinning room. As of July, the corking fee was $10.

Looking at the picture above, you might wonder: do Soccermom and Soccerdad drink all of that wine on a seven day cruise, in addition to ordering wine from the "real" wine list? The answer is: almost. In addition to bringing some to Beano's party, we also like to have DIS friends to our suite for informal "cocktail hour". So be nice to us and maybe some Cakebread, Far Niente, or even Opus One might be in your future!!!

Sorry for the long post, but the subject matter seemed to me important enough to cover it fully.

Hope everyone had a nice weekend.

Chris

Chris, thanks for the reply I am so glad that you must go by Kurt :cool1: because I would love to taste Opus One. :Pinkbounc .. Plus we want to buy some wine at F&W  . It would be fun to drink on the boat (oopsie ship) especially when we eat at Palo's (oops!! i mean Palo) :rotfl2: ans why isn't it called Palio? :confused3 Ever been to Siena? :earboy2:

Ok...Here is the deal with this. I hear ya about ironing everything. Used to do it too. Used to sneek the iron onto the ship and iron in the room. That is so awkward to do because there is no really good place to do it. The price to have have your clothes pressed is like really cheap so you can have them do it! Not worth the hassle to iron your own stuff no matter what you think you are saving moneywise. You will spend too much time ironing to enjoy yourself. Right RonnieJo?

Rachel..if you burn my ship down with your iron...I will haunt you forever!

a buck or so an item...and the reason you can't iron is because fire and boats = bad, bad bad vacation
