October 27, 2011 ~ Dream 3 Night

Geez...I thought I had included our info...

MissFitt - names in real life

Linda (me) John (dh) Shannon (dd-8) Kenny (ds-6)

Well, I have had an interesting development. On Sunday, I went for my 6.5 mile walk/run as I am training for the 1/2 marathon at WDW in January. My left foot was very tight throughout & was really hurting afterwards, but then eased off until 12:30am when I awoke in intense pain. Went to ortho yesterday & I have a stress fracture in my left foot. The ortho recommended not traveling because I cannot weight bear for at least 3 weeks & will be in a boot, crutches & some pain. :sad2:
I called DVC this morning since we are cruising on points & since we don't have travel insurance:idea: (might be doing this from now on), we would loose like 50% of our points for the 1st cruise & 75% on the 2nd cruise. I asked about just moving it forward until Nov/Dec but that is a no go either, so much as I figured, we will be sailing. I am happy & sad at the same time if that make sense. I have been so looking forward to these back to back cruises but if we could have made it work, of course I would have preferred cruising with a healthy foot & without mobility challenges. BUT, we will make the best of it & still have a wonderful cruise. We will just rent a wheelchair so that I don't have to wear myself out on crutches the whole time. Had to cancel our dolphin excursion:sad1: & I won't be able to do the Castaway Cay 5K like I was planning, but the rest of what we have planned should work.

Anyhoo, enough about that........we'll be cruising soon! :sail:
Melanie, sorry to hear about your foot. Glad you can still cruise though. :goodvibes

Melanie, I am very sorry to hear that. I am always so paranoid that someone in family will get sick or hurt before or during travel. That really stinks! I hope you can make the best of it.

Thanks. I am glad to still be coming too!

This is the first time this has happened to us. I am planning on having a great time even with the limitations.
My DH rented me a wheelchair yesterday, so that is going to make things much easier on the cruise.

Just saw this and thought I'd share. It mentions the Goofy pool, so I don't know if it's specific to the classic ships or if the Dream's included.

A Frightfully Fun Time Awaits Disney Cruise Line Guests this Halloween

Oct. 2011

Disney Cruise Line will treat guests sailing during late-October to a spook-tacular good time as the Disney ships transform into a ghoulish wonderland filled with hair-raising events and activities. Guests of all ages will delight with special decorations, unique menu items in the restaurants and themed dance parties on deck.

Here is a glimpse at the treats awaiting Disney Cruise Line guests this Halloween:
•Trick-or-Treat Trail: Young guests are invited to participate in a trick-or-treat hunt exploring multiple decks of the ship and collecting candy from various stations.
•Haunted Parties: Following the trick-or-treat hunt, families will gather at the Goofy Pool for a fun-filled Halloween costume party – Disney Cruise Line style. The world-famous Disney Characters will join in the fun, wearing special Halloween costumes just for the occasion. For adults, the nighttime entertainment district on the Disney ships becomes the ghoulish setting for a costume contest and party sure to bring chills to everyone.
•Spooky Movies: To get guests into the spirit of the season, Halloween-themed movies will be shown in the Buena Vista Theatre, on the Ariel Vision screen by the family pool and in guest staterooms.
•Ghoulish Delights: Disney Cruise Line chefs have conjured some very special treats for Halloween, including chocolate cake with pumpkin filling, spider cakes and “Witch’s Brew.”

Melanie, that is awful.

I also did by 6.5mi on Sunday and my left foot feels like it has a muscle issue, fingers crossed, almost like a really bad knot since i turn wrong yesterday at the office. I am icing tonight and kind of scared to see the doc, incase it is more then the muscle.

PJ.........I hope you get better news at the doctor than I did! This getting healthy stuff is dangerous!:lmao: I was pretty bummed about it Monday knowing that I was going to have to cancel our dolphin excursion that I have been looking forward to, not be able to do the CC 5K, won't be able to ride the Aqua Duck etc, BUT I will still be on a Disney cruise & I know that I will still have a great time. Eric said that it might actually make us slow down & relax on vacation for once. :rotfl:
Are you b2b on 10/27 & 10/30 or are you boarding with us on 10/23, I can't remember?

Melanie, I am 10/27, 10/30 and 11/3, :)

I am able to poke and massage the foot-zero pain, it only hurts/aches to step on it.

So not sure how anyone would feel about this but figured I'd ask. Would anyones teenager (mine is almost 15) be interested in doing facebook with my son prior to the cruise? Just seems a little easier to me if the kids get to know each other a little before the cruise & that seems like the most common network for kids. I only say that because he loved the teen club last time & is hoping to meet new people to hang out with this time. If so send me a message & I'll give you his Facebook information.

I have a 15 year old son, so that would be great, but it is a suprise. He doesnt know he is going anywhere. We are just going to pick him up from school and get on a plane.

Sorry, but I am sure we can introduce them when we get on board.

Melanie, so sorry to hear about your foot, but I am glad you will still be cruising with us. Hope you are on the mend soon.

Thank you so much for doing this!!! I guess I am not very good at this. I think having a master list on someone's door is a great idea :)

No problemo, I only got the hang of it myself a couple of months ago and already are doing to others...

Thanks for the list.

Sorry, I thought I provided our room number. We staying in 7020.

Less than two weeks!!!! :cool1:

Got your cabin number..

Now All Cabins are numbered !!!!!! Unless of course someone upgrades at the port, we have all the cabin numbers listed.... :goodvibes
