Hi Tara!

Where in Nova Scotia are your parents from? I was born and raised in New Brunswick but spent most of my adult life in western Canada in Alberta and Saskatchewan. We just moved back to the Maritimes 11 months ago and are so happy to be here . Great place to raise kids!

My mom is from Pictou & my dad from Truro. I have relatives that have moved to Alberta, BC & Ontario as well.

Catherine, I've been reading your pre-trip report. We have a little something in common with the age range of our kids. My oldest is 29 and youngest is 10.

I have to confess that every time I see ToT, what I really see is Tower of Terror!

If you would be so kind to add our family to the FE list and the Tower of Terror list too.....

We have a GTY room. Our party consists of my DH, Phillip. I am Sheri and our DD is Savannah (11). She isn't in to ToTing as much as she use to, but she does like candy and will participate in things on DCL that she normally will not do at home.

Just curious, how many other Texans do we have on this cruise?

We are from TEXAS too. Houston - way too close to the port...

My son Michael will be so relieved when I tell him there's a boy his age. He was worried there wouldn't be any "duuudes" to hang out with and that he'd be surrounded by girls. Even though he has some girl friends at school, he's not thinking about them in 'that way' yet. He turns 12 in May and he's pretty set on going to the Edge, I think partly so he has some separation from his sister, even though the two of them get along most of the time.

My DD, Catie, sounds like yours. She's already talking about what she wants to do with her friends on the cruise. To her it's a given she'll make friends. There are quite a few girls in this group in that age bracket. They'll have quite the posse!

My son turns 11 THIS May. By the time the cruise <finally> gets here he will be 11.5. We have done other cruises and the "tween" area is geared towards... sitting. He actually liked the kid area with games and sports and general silliness just as much. I am hoping (fingers crossed) that he will still hang out with his sister a bit... but maybe I should be hoping she will hang out with him! We have a large group of close friends going on the Oct 12 cruise... we opted to go later because we love how Disney World brings us all together, and we are hoping the same for the cruise! We knew if we had their BFFs (who are more like cousins they are all so close) along we would never see them and we would lose the "family" aspect of the the cruise. Our friends think we are crazy! That said, a few kids to chill with a few hours while Mom and Dad hit the adult pool would not be bad at all.... Not to mention those late night bars and clubs....

We originally posted way back when (after we booked) that we would like to join the FE exchange and Dis meet, but I guess it wasn't organized yet. On Saturday we just got off the Magic sailing out of Galveston and had a fantastic time! Great weather and a perfect day at Castaway Cay!

We have been on a few previous Halloween cruises and the last one (October 2012 on the Wonder) there was no candy stations set up for TOTing.

Do you have a review and pics of the cruise over Halloween on the Wonder? What all did Disney do for Halloween? Any tips on Castaway Cay?

I agree with you about keeping the family aspect of the cruise. Michael kids about being in the Edge playing video games but he knows that we're there to spend time with each other as a family. And from reading the various Navigators there is a ton of family activities. I'm good with Catie and Michael going to their clubs while we have a few drinks in the bar, get a massage or go to the adult pool but what won't happen is that they're gone for hours on end. Kind of defeats the purpose of family time. I've read some posts where people didn't see their kids for hours. If I wanted my son parked in front of video games all day I surely wouldn't pay the money it costs to cruise! LOL I don't think I have to worry though. We're a pretty tight knit family.

So when you meet people and they ask about your kids do you get that same wide-eyed, mouth-dropping reaction when you tell them their ages? I do. Makes me crazy sometimes but I've gotten used to it. And it's not so uncommon any more. We have a couple parents at the kids' school in the same situation.

Oh I get wide eyed stares alright. What I failed to mention is that we actually have six. My top two favorite repeated questions: "How many are yours and how many are his"? And of course the old "Do you know what causes that"? Lol

Too funny... heck, my youngest is separated from her next oldest sibling by 5 years and people ask me all they time if they have the same Dad. Really, people? Is that the kind of thing you ask a stranger in the park? I like to say, "oh no... I have seven kids with seven baby daddies!"

We had the same thing on ours as well. Ours ended up being 3 groups. Guess we will see how things go as time goes on!
