October 25, 2014 Fantasy Western "The Not So Scary Halloween Cruise 2014"

Hello All. Because of circumstances me and my family will still be going on this cruise. I ask of everyone on here please when it concerns me or my family, please don't not bad mouth us. If you don't like us for what ever reason. Keep it off here. I will be organizing the Trick or Treat. I will need to know by next friday who is still interested. The bad news is that DCL has stated we will not be able to have stations on deck in common areas. So our choices are to either A) have stations in our staterooms or B) have it in a designated room. When you let me know if you are interested i will need to know how many are in your party are interested, if you are willing to bring candy, if we do in our staterooms if you are willing to host? We also need to decide which date and time. But we have to remember a few things on that. 1. it would be a day at sea, 2. the days at sea there is the Royal Tea for the children and the new Remy Experience. Please contact me on the Facebook age as I don't get on here that much
 
I feel like I am missing things. I think I have replied at least 2-3 times about FE, roll call, etc to different people and I am now seeing posts to do this again. I am not on Facebook, nor do I plan on joing just to be part of this group. I did not realize that different things were being discussed/planned on that group. It is disappointing that we do not have one site where everything is on the table. It does not feel like much of a "group" if things are being planned in more than one place. I thought the point of this forum was to post things related to our cruise but if this is not the only site, there is a huge potential for hard feelings if there is an activity that someone misses just because they didn't know the correct place to look.

Don't mean to rant, but I feel out of the loop.

Or maybe someone else can set it up... Several people have already expressed their concerns about you running this. So it is not fair that you've decided without anyone giving it an OK that you are just going to take it over. It is a major production!!! And kids going to strangers staterooms is a poor idea!!! And...

You don't have to inform DCL of this!!! Their standard answer to things like this is NO.... WE HAVE done it! So yes it can be done... You are calling a reservation hotline and asking agents questions to things that they are not trained and qualified to answer. I think this is one of those things that make people get a little upset with you. When you have veteran DCL cruisers that understand these things and have answers and opinions based on their actual cruise experience, you seem to go over their head by calling the "almighty" customer service reps. What's the point in people sharing their knowledge or answering peoples questions if you are just going to make a call to DCL and get an answer that makes it sound as if your answer is the only one that counts?:confused3 You need to understand that these reps, for the most part, have never stepped foot on a Disney Cruise.

I'm sorry. I just don't like seeing things dictated like this... Everyone should have a say!:goodvibes

And it is not fair for people who like to be on the Disboards to have to go over to Facebook to participate in these things. These groups got their start on the Disboards long before there was a Facebook.

Please don't be upset over roll call. Everyone is on there that had already responded. (I was asking people to check that I put their info in correctly) but you are on there for sure. I am asking all new people to sign up on page 61 themselves.

I don't blame you for ranting. I know a few people that feel FB has ruined the "community" experience. It has also opened my eyes to things. I will make a suggestion, because there seems to be two separate groups. I would suggest splitting the FE. Have one for DIS boards and one on FB.

Just an idea, I am sure others have a better way. ;)

Since the FE is getting pretty long anyways (already 40 cabins and we still have 6 months to go), I think that is a great idea to split it. That way people don't feel left out and everyone can chose to be in 1 or even both if they want. I know several people have already made remarks about the size already. Sarah I can take over the DIS boards FE so we can keep them separate and you don't have to spend so much time trying to keep them all straight.

Ok,you totally crack me up! I am sorry that the Facebook part leaves some folks feeling left out. I do think that Sarah and Sweets are doing a nice job reaching out in both places. I feel like everyone is welcome in both spots and there is room for all to enjoy both spots. :) I'm trying to take a wait and see attitude on the TOT situation because I don't want to stir up more drama, but I would be lying if I didn't say I have concerns too. I do think the stateroom plan is not ideal with kids, and appreciate Ron's insight into the workings of DCL. Happy cruise thoughts to all and to all a goodnight!
 
What do you think of having the younger kids become pen pals before the cruise? Either good old fashion letters (my kids love getting letters) or emails?

Hi! Tessa would love, love, love to be pen pals! Maybe we could do a little of both (snail mail and email)? She just loves meeting new friends!

I'm sorry everyone feels that the group is divided it's not meant to be like that, the FB page was set up as an extension of the disboards group as not everyone had or could navigate disboards.

I agree the fe is getting rather large there are no plans to split just yet and if it was to be split by group I feel this would add to the 'divided feeling' if and when the fe group needs to be split we will decide as a group how best to do this.

I really am trying to do my best over on Facebook, I have declared that is a drama free zone, not everyone will get along, that's life!

But we are one cruising group and I will continue to post in both places in the hope of keeping everyone updated and in the loop

Sarah - I think you are missing some of the concerns. FB can be an extension, but there are some that are not on FB and some that prefer only FB. I truly think splitting the groups is the way to go. That way, those of us in the middle can pick and those on the extremes can stay to what the prefer.

Listening to the group is part of leading. You seem to want to lead, but I think at times, there needs to be some give and take. Knowing that point is always tricky. I think we have reached the point.

You are doing a good job of trying to manage a FB and have thrilled so many with your mickey designs and your graphics. :goodvibes The idea of opening up the Tshirts was an awesome one. Letting the group pick was brilliant on your part. :thumbsup2 That will keep the group together. Having a vote both here and on FB will keep the "dividing feeling adrift and bring us all together into full group.

At this point, I think we should split the FE. We are going to need to do it at some point anyway as it is quite large. This will make it easier in the long run to split now. I have seen this a few times on a few different cruises with many people doing the FE. Each time I have seen it done, it has gone very smoothly. As people that are signing up know what group they are in at the moment they sign up. The other way I have seen, splitting up later, hasn't run as smoothly.

Jbaby is offering to help, I think you should let her take one group and go with it on the DIS.

As someone else mentioned, these groups started on the Boards but it seems that this has now become the primitive method...which is unfortunate for those of us that love the Boards.. My family has been on other Disney cruises and have participated in the group activities, but this was not feeling like it has before. I am very excited about the cruise and just don't want to feel left out or like we missed something.

I realize I am on the lists that I want to be(FE, roll call) but it seems like every time there is a change, we have to respond again...and with more changes looming, I was anticipating having to respond again.

It is unfortunate because I like posting here as well. I think it gives a very community feeling and I have genuinely liked almost everyone I have met in person on these board.

I joined my Alaska May cruise only in Feb and we all get along so well (and i have yet to meet them) as does the TA cruise which has almost 200 members already! This is the first cruise I have seen with the drama that has prevailed.

Trust me, you have not divided the group at all. I am looking forward to meeting almost everyone on the cruise and I think it will be fun. We might not have all the activities we were going to, but it will still be an amazing and fun cruise :goodvibes

To whom ever is doing the roll call and such. Take me and my family off this cruise totally I want nothing to do with the hypercrits on this page or on FB. I am still planning the Roaming Mickey and if dont want part of that now fine tell Sarah
