Just read the thread about these shots and that it is encouraged you get them for the Mexican cruises..........
is any one getting these shots?????

DANG............How am i supposed to get this past my kids!!!!????????

Funny you should ask because I asked the pediatrician last time I was there and they told me we didn't need to do anything. I was more concerned with the two girls going with us than my own family. Neither one of our previous cruises were we told anything either.

So what are they saying? Please fill us in. Hmmm....may have to check into this more.

Here in the UK our kids have no vaccinations for Hep A or Hep B as part of their childhood vaccination programme. Only people who are likely to come into contact with infected blood and body fluids have Hep B vaccinations ie. health professionals like myself. I can just see my kids faces if I suggested them having any vaccinations, especually DD who is needlephobic. I will now have to check with the official websites to see what is recommended and hope that we will be ok. We have been to Florida many a time and have never been recommended any vaccinations, so I am not too concerned for the cruise, as we won't be going anywhere risky or eating away from the ship.

I have checked with one website and it says Hep A, typhoid, Polio and tetanus vaccinations are recommended for the Bahamas and for Mexico, but not essential. As we are are not going off the beaten track or eating in these places we should be fine. Hep B is a blood-bourne virus, so it's unlikely that we will come into contact with infected blood, and Hep A transmits mainly via the fecal-oral route (sorry if you're having breakfast / lunch / dinner ) from infected individuals and from eating shell fish from polluted water. Good hand hygiene should therefore minimise the risk.

hello everyone! first let me warn you - i am not in the medical field (as so many of you are) but i was recently told (i dont remember by who) that if you go to costa maya you are not able to donate blood for 1 year - i know that has nothing to do with if you need a vacination before you go - but i just thought i would share that - for whatever it is worth:sick:

you may now return to whatever you were doing before you hit this non-message :goodvibes

wait - before you go - i really think we need some new subscribers to this thread! it feels like forever since i have gotten to update our cast list . . . :surfweb:

happy valentines day!

ok - now im really done :thumbsup2

Just went outside and you cant even walk. Everything is covered in ice! we got lots of freezing rain and rain yesterday and lastnight and now its all frozen. I cant wait for warm weather! My DD's keep asking if its October yet. lol:mad: I WISH!

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY EVERYONE!:grouphug:

Hope you all have a wonderful day.

Hi!

There's a pretty extensive list of countries the American Red Cross screens blood donors about going to before donation. Some do require a one year wait before resuming donation, despite up to date immunizations.

Not sure if this helps:
http://www.redcross.org/services/biomed/blood/supply/cjdv.html

As far as immunizations for Hepatitis A and B. Hep A is contracted commonly through infected food and water. You also find it commonly spread in a school and daycare setting right here in the USA.

About Hepatitis, the link to Hep B info is at the top of the page :

How about a printable iron on that we can use to iron onto our own lime green t shirts?

and this website has lime green t shirts, made by Hanes, for as low as $1.55 each

I'm enjoying my morning off! I work this afternoon, but am then off for three days straight!

I wanna go see Mickey, but not sure if I can convince DH and the kids to go too.

the thread i read ison the main Disney Cruis eline board under HEp A/b.

i did not readi ton the actaul DISNEYCRUISE WEBSITE.

And i did read also about the no giving blood. Which i dont do any way.
But Dh does.

We will just not eat off the boat those days i guess or will will go get the vaccines.

Most likley just eat on the boat.

i will check with my Dd as she is getting ready to go and spend a week in Mexico on a Missions trio and see if she is getting one?

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!!!!!!!

Who is interested in taking part in the Fish Extender gift exchange. Do you think we should get together some sort of list with the people who are interested, how many adults / kids etc and what ages the kids are. It would just help if we knew ages / sexes of the kids, as if we spot appropriate gift items in the next few months we could pick them up as we go along.

I'll start with my group

Sarah (adult)
Tony (adult)
Stephen (male - 19)
Taryn ( female - 17 )
Louise (female - 17)
Dan (male - 14)

I'm happy to sort out the list etc and keep it updated and then add the room numbers and distribute the list to the people involved at the opportune moment! (unless someone else desperately wants to do it)

I have also posted this on the private HOTHH forum aswell so that everyone has the chance to join in!

Let me know what you think?

Yes we need a list and it would be awesoem for you to do this for us!

We would love to join in and it will be........
ME...dizzi!
DH
SON...Joe....15
DD...Allie.....12

OH GOSH I CANT WAIT so excited

I cant wait til it moves to 7 months!!!!

I am new to this and we do want to join but need some clarification - are we exchanging gifts for the extender or the actual extenders?

We are:

Lisa (me, adult)
Joe (DH)
Jessica (17 DD)
Sarah (13 DD)

The list will be compiled so that we know what rooms the fish extenders will be hanging at..............and also what age es of kids are in each room so that we can bring gifts fro each room accordingly.

It is the gifts you will not relly exchange but deliver to each room as you deem fit!

Some people only deliver once during a cruise some 2 times what ever FLOATS YOUR BOAT so to speak!!!!!:lmao:

This is now posted on the HOTHH private forum (which everyone NEEDS to join ASAP!) and I will update as required! It is posted in the general discussion - events planning section! I will also post the list on here from time to time as a reminder for others to join in!

I am getting really excited now! yee ha and all that!:yay: :yay: :yay:
