October 25, 2008 Halloween on the High Seas (2)

Ok, I can check off manicure on my to do list!! Then DD came home from school sick, we went to the book store and I got my cruise reading ( new Nora Roberts book and the Marcia Brady Biography!!! Who knew she was such a slut!!) It's going to kill my childhood memories of the Brady's!!! But it will make for 'light' reading on the cruise!!

Picked up DH suits from the cleaners and have pulled out all of his acceptable clothing that he has to go thru and then I can finish packing!! I hope to have it done tonight.

I hope to have the kids school work sorted and some of it done before we leave!
I can't believe that in 72 hours we will be on the MAGIC!!!!

I think we're done with door decorations. Just grabbed some nylon zip ties from the garage (to secure our FE). Matched keys to TSA approved locks.

More prep work now.

Not to ruin the surprise, but there will be one in your FE with lots of other stuff.

If anyone else needs a zip tie (or you can't wait until it magically appears in your FE), I'll have some with me at the DIS meet on Saturday. I've got at least a dozen or two left over. I think I promised one to a couple of folks, so I'll just bring what I have.

We are here in WDW! We arrived safely, flight was on time. Our rooms at the Boardwalk were not ready so we headed over to Epcot and got a few drinks. We just had room service and the kids are huddling up in bed before we walk over to see Illuminations!!

Oh, Kim, we can't wait. We get to the Boardwalk about midnight tomorrow night. Cuz we are officially on vacation right now!

The only thing is that the youngest DD is being very trying tonight. We are trying to copy pages out of her text books so she don't have to take the whole text book with and she is being a royal pain in the butt. Everything we do is wrong and she isn't cooperating at all. But we are working through it. Hopefully done soon.

The girls have to go to school a half a day tomorrow while we finish up the packing, then it is off to the airport. Our flight leaves Des Moines at 3:35 pm. I just can't believe that the time is fianlly here. It seems like we have been waiting sooooo long. We booked this clear back in March of '07 on our Spring Break cruise. I'm sure when we hit the Orlando Airport tomorrow night I will get all misty. It really does calm me when I get there. I love Florida.

Our friends from Sebastian, FL called tonight saying that it was 80 and he was in the pool relaxing. Lucky. It was 45 and raining here. But we will be with them on Friday. Yeah!!!!!

So, tomorrow night at this time we will be sitting in Chicago waiting to board our next flight. Good luck to all who are traveling and see ya soon!!!

Tara and Dana, I know that you will be incommunicado tomorrow until the cruise. Just want to send safe journey pixie dust to you both and your families. We surely will miss you guys on chat tomorrow! Wow, it's gonna be empty there....me, Amy, Jenn, Nicole, Staci....and a few others.....

To all that are traveling the next few days, the same to you all. Safe journey pixie dust.

We will be leaving about 10 am on Friday and that will be it for us. Probably Thursday night since Friday will be a bit crazy for sure. Amy will be on the boards til Saturday since she's local, Nicole and Staci too...be kind to our thread and put it to bed on Saturday nicely, please!

Tomorrow is a ho-hum day finalizing whatever...double checking my lists, etc. Printed all the spreadsheets again today to make sure I had the most updated. Checked flights and hotels stuff. Confirmed (again!) our limo. So probably a bit of a boring day tomorrow since the house is okay clean. Will be thinking of everyone there already, the ones flying soon and meeting everyone. I'm just so excited that this is FINALLY coming to be...could almost cry!!!

I finshed packing except for some miscellaneous items that we use in the morning. I have to work tomorrow and the kids have school. Then we are off to Chicago. We fly out Friday morning.

I am going to try to get out of work early but the owner is coming out I hope the day goes well. last time it didn't and someone else left their employment. What am I saying? I just have to keep repeating I am leaving today.

Well, the packing is almost done. Just the formal and more dressy clothes into the garment bag and the last minute medications and toiletries!!!. The weight restrictions really being inforced is what screwed up trying to pack! I have always tried to bring the least number of bags, now I jusat don't want it to weigh over 50lbs!! So i'll just bring more bags!! I also prefer to carry on the least amount of things with me. I know some people only use carry on luggage. But I guess since I have always travelled with kids starting at 6 mos of age and having a stroller, car seat, diaper bag, food bag, toy bag, ETC....I prefer to have my hands free!! Anyway. I should be at chat tonight. I hope I'm not going to be lonely!!

We don't leave until 5am on Sat. Hoping to get some school work done with the kids on Friday!! GREAT way to start vacation!!! But it has to be done!! Mary

One last post before we leave. All our bags are packed and sitting by the door. DH just took the girls to school. They are going until noon then we are picking them up and off we go.

Can't believe it is finally here. We really have been looking forward to it.

The Florida sun is really really nice!!! It is the perfect temperature here in Orlando!!

I know this is going to sound funny since this is the last chat before the cruise but how do you get into chat?
