October 25, 2008 Halloween on the High Seas (2)

I need to be kept away from the stores! :rotfl2: I couldn't resist buying more FE stuff today; I already have stuff for everyone on the master list and lots esp. for group 4, but I just keep going and going. It's such fun and I'm esp. excited for my SIL and her hubby, as this is their first disney cruise and they're not really sure what this FE activity is all about. :)

QOTD answer: A typical weekend for us is, well, not typical. Hubby works shifts so every weekend is different. But we're both football fans so come Sunday, the tv is always on! Our DS recently moved into his own apartment with his girlfriend so we're empty nesters now, which is both great and unusual. I used to always try to have a proper Sunday dinner if hubby wasn't at work, but now that I'm cooking for just the two of us, we seem to eat out a lot more than before :) It's like before we had our son, only we're a lot older!! :lmao:

What are everyone's plans to get to the cruise terminal? Last year we were among the first to arrive and that's what we plan again this year.

==Lennie==

Lennie

I wish we were there with you. Last time we were the first ones at the terminal. :cool1: That is pretty cool. But I'm afraid this time we will be arriving later than we like :scared: We don't get picked up from BWV until after noon. Which is really late for me. We should be there by 2:00  Missing a couple of hours on the ship. The only advantage to this is that our room should be ready as soon as we board. :woohoo: So we can't wait. Let the part begin

So let me introduce myself. My name is Laura. I have a dh-Shad,dd Emmalynn will be 3 in December, and dd-Molly will be 2 in January. I have a sister named Kim as you all know as Aneille. She has been a Disney fanatic for years now. I think the bug has now hit me!!!! I'm soooooo excited for our trip!!!!!!!!!!   :dance3: :dance3:

Laura, good to meet you! You will have such a great time with Kim, et al on this cruise! How nice to be able to travel together!

NEW TRICK OR
TREATERS

Please let me know if I've left anyone out, but between those who posted and those who sent PM's this is the list....

Maryrn11168 - 5 children
Shellcruiser - 2 children ages, 10 & 8
Domjans - 2 children, ages 4 & 2
AmesDizney - 2 children, ages 9 & 5
Bbaltes - 1 child, age 5

If I have missed anyone, please post asap!!!! The TOT organizers are trying to figure out the best way to add your kids, and what you will need to do, so will keep you posted.

Valerie

This message is for the 5 families who are being added to the TOT

We have added a new group for your children. But there are a few rules :teacher:

1. You must provide a bag for your child/children. The bags should be delivered to Suzie as soon as possible on the ship. We will be assembling the bags the day prior so we will need the new bags in order to do this.

2. We need a volunteer from each family. Since there are 5 families, we will need 5 volunteers. 4 will be group chaperones (group of 12 children) and the 5th will be needed at the final station to hand out the bags. Please PM me with the name of the volunteer for your family.

3. Please also PM me a list of the children participating. I will need the name and age.

4. Please provide some nut-free candy for the children. This will also need to be delivered to Suzie on the ship.

Please let me know if you have any questions! Thanks for your patience while we sorted everything out!

Michelle

Good morning everyone!

I had a productive day yesterday and have finished my adult fish extender gifts for my group, and am getting on with making something for the girls, which I hope to be able to give to all the DIS girls, even if I end up making them in my sleep, on the flight, and waiting in the lines in WDW! In the evening I finished mine and Taryn's pirate skirts bar the elastic for the waist and a bit of decorative stuff to cover the mistakes!

So now all I have to make is:

pirate shirt for Stephen
waistcoat for Daniel's halloween costume
pirate skirt for Louise
skirt and top for my halloween costume
girl's fish extender gift
a few minor bits and pieces and alterations on things.

Just wondering if this is doable in just 13 days :scared1:

We are off to the British Dance Championships heats today with Taryn's dance group - it's their first comptition so we don't hold out much hope, but hopefully they will enjoy the experience which is what it's all about really!

Dana - a lot of us are on Deck 6 - I am not sure if anyone is in the immediate vicinity of those cabins mentioned, but I hope those problems are sorted out before we board!

Laura - welcome aboard!

Lennie - we hope to get there for breakfast! We plan to leave Orlando early and drive to Port Canaveral for breakfast before getting to the terminal as soon as they will allow us. I do have to return the hire car though, so it may not be as early as I would have liked!

Have a great day eveyone!:goodvibes

I too have a fair number of dust bunnies collected!! I may try to get rid a few before our trip!!
But DH and I collect magnets from every vacation we take. We have so many disney one!! But we get from different hotels, parks when inWDW.

I like the christmas ornanment idea. I think we may start that on this trip. I definatly want to take our Christmas card picture during this trip:santa: :santa:

I suppose I should answer my own question....

I collect a fridge magnet from each Disney park / place we visit and I try and collect a Christmas tree ornament from our travels too. I also collect Pirates of the Caribbean memorabilia and Pirates of the Caribbean Disney pins, and Disney pins from the parks we visit with the year on them, and any Disney pins which take my fancy really.

I want to start collecting the Disney traditions figures, and have hinted strongly for one for Christmas this year!

Never did answer this one yesterday...

We collect Christmas ornaments from Disney or Hallmark. Tori gets a Tinkerbell and Princess one, Ameera gets Princess Aurora and Pooh ones. We also get a family one.

Why two per child you ask? Because when they are all grown up and move out they have ones to take for their trees without stealing all my memories. One stays here with me!

I also collect pins for the girls. Rides they ridden at the parks (our rule: every time you do a new ride, you get the pin) and their favs. We do try to limit them each time but mommy likes them too........

I also collect Fairie things. I love the Cicely Mary Barker books that my mother used to read to me and thus began my collection. I was sooo happy to find tin punch Fairies to hang in Tori's room when she was little. She has my fascination with them too and has a corner in her Princess room dedicated to them.

Just re-posting pics of the bags we ordered for TOT. Maybe new families will want to all chip in and purchase the same bags? If not, any plastic or cloth type bag will do.

Just to let y'all know, I am working with Arlene on getting some of the information on the Trick or Treating, Fish extender cabin maps, and the people information spreadsheet for our cruise out on the private site.

Arlene, I tried Google docs but it only accepts docs up to 500KB and one I have is 2751 KB. So that won't work for it. So, let me know what we can do for the uploads.

**If anyone wants these in the mean time, just pm me your email address and I can send them to you. I do have some recent revisions and the ToT needs to be updated once we get all the new names together. So these are not "truly" up to date. Will try to get that done today.

Everyone have a great day! Only 19 more days til the cruise!!!

We're getting picked up at 10am on the 25th. Should be at the port in an hour, maybe less? Plan is to find all the DISers, and get to meet and chat before boarding. Upon boarding, we plan to head directly for food. Probably Parrot Cay again, we really seem to like it there. Then wander the ship, and scout the spa villas, until the room is ready.

Normal weekend depends on my work, but if off: up, play inside with Max, take Max out to run like a crazy greyhound and do his business, then long walk with Max. Returning home, feed Max. Then, head out to workout at our respective gyms. Breakfast, read paper, then get to work on laundry (started when we get up) and chores (lawn, yard, household). Perhaps a second walk with Max after dinner. We've noticed that for some time (preceeding Max), we've eaten out much less than we used to. So, meal planning and preparation happens, too. Just another weekend in the life.

Being the first Sunday of the month, we'll be loading into the car soon for a road trip. Stop at PetSmart for food, toothpaste, etc. Then, on to the City Isle Strut in Harrisburg. Socialize Max, and us, then a walk around the island. Return home to sleep for Max, and the Talladega race-wreck fest on TV. :bride: adds: more packing and planning today!

Good Morning! :goodvibes

One night on chat someone mentioned that we should have a photo album of all our pets in a post. So I thought I would start it off. I would be happy to keep track of it all... so please PM me with your pets picture and I will add them as soon as I can...

Janice, could you please put a link to this on the first page? THANKS!!!

uggh...haven't been on here in awhile, lots of catching up to do...

We usually get shot glasses from each place we visit. The kids like getting those pressed pennies from the parks. We, well I, usually get a few pins also.

I developed an extremely bad habit of "collecting" everything which was inherited from my mom (she has an entire room filled with just Panda stuff also Lladro),for me ... baseball cards, comics, pins, all things star wars (bins and bins of toys), WD Classic Figures (my wife and I), my sickness turned her into it too with Dreamsicles. Now trying to be a recovering collect-a-holic and reclaiming garage space one bin at a time. :goodvibes

HEAR YE! HEAR YE!

The Secretary of Chat has now been given a new title - Bearer of Bad News

TRICK OR TREAT SIGN UP IS NOW CLOSED

Seriously folks, as of post 1575 we are unable to take any more kids into the Trick or Treat activity. As we say here, we have poor Suzie "just about drove off her head" trying to add the extra kids. The organization that she has done for this activity would put world leaders to shame - there is much more involved than just stuffing a few extra bags, with the groupings, the clue stations, organizing the volunteers, etc. Those of you who have asked to be included - and are included - according to my list are...

Maryrn11168
Shellcruiser
demjans
AmesDizney
bbaltes
LetsGoSteelers

The requirements for you are...

1. PM Suzie with you names and the names/ages of your kids
2. Each family must provide at least 1 volunteer for the TOT in some capacity
3. Each family must donate treats of some sort to the activity - please remember we have nut allergies in our groups!
4. Each of the new additions must have their own bag - we just do not have enough of the ones we ordered to provide them for the additional kids. The bags will need to be dropped off with the treats. (For those who don't know, the kids will not carry bags around with them, but be given bags at the final clue station that will already be filled with treats.)

With less than 3 weeks left to sailaway :cool1:  :dance3: :cheer2: there has to be a final cut off - and this is it folks. :sad1:

And as for Suzie - if I've gotten anything above wrong, please correct! And this is for you......

:cool1: :lovestruc :worship:   :woohoo:  :yay: :dance3: :cheer2: :grouphug: :flower3: princess: :wave2: pixiedust: :love1: :thanks: :love2:

Valerie

I would just like to say a big Thank you to Suzies for all the hard work she has put into doing the T&T for us

Ok here is our answer to what does everyone like or collect. Alexus (8) is into faries, Gabby (5) is into horses and animals, DH & I usually do magnets that are very unique.

AHHHHH i have so much to do and so little time!:surfweb:

Wow!! We've been gone a week, and I had over 20 pages of posts to catch up on!! We decided to go on a last-minute cruise (translation: dirt cheap) on Carnival. I've been working very, very long hours for the last month with all of the hurricanes, and needed a vacation without work and without looking at all the housework to be done (and without the hassle of flying somewhere, if possible!). I know, it's not Disney, but compared to the cost of getting a hotel (which I know would be at Disney), eating (at Disney), and paying for general activities (guess where), it was cheaper to do the cruise. And with our annual passes to Disney, we can do all of that without staying at a hotel on our own time on the weekends, so I don't actually miss out on any of that stuff. Anyway, we went to Grand Cayman and Cozumel (along with Belize and Isla Roatan), which is great, because we got to see what to expect with the Disney cruise this month! The Disney Magic was in Grand Cayman the same day we were! It was very sad, being there with the boat, and knowing we couldn't get on it. :sad1: But, we will be soon enough! Anyway, I'm something like 45 QOTD's behind (in a week - how is that possible? I think I was behind before I left!). Here are the highlights:

Favorite adult drink: Mountain Dew. Sorry, not an alcohol person (I'm an embarrassment to my family!).

Time in adult areas or family time: Mostly family time, although I hope we can take advantage of our veranda. This is our first cruise with a veranda!

Drink coffee: No (again, an embarrassment to my family). However, DH loves coffee, so I imagine there will be time spent at the Cove Cafe.

Favorite Disney Movie: Beauty and the Beast. I love Belle. To answer another QOTD, I am probably most like Belle, and the only reason my nose won't be in a book is because somebody (I wish I knew who, I should hate the person) introduced me to Sudoko, and I'm still addicted. Will there be a Sudoko players-anonymous meeting on the boat? I really should quit. I'm missing out on my reading!

Favorite Disney Song: I have to pick a single song?? I'm not sure I can. Under the Sea, A Whole New World, and anything from Beauty and the Beast. :rolleyes1

"Normal" Weekend: I haven't had one of those in a couple of months. Usually I try to do a day with DD (4), just the two of us, we hit one of the Disney parks (except in the way-too-hot summer!!!) just after it opens and stay until it's obviously nap time, then head home. This gives DH time to do whatever it is he needs to get done without us in the way, and we get to enjoy Disney (or something else). The rest of the weekend is dedicated to errands and household chores and the like.

Collections: umm...you're going to make me admit this, aren't you? Well, I like to collect things in general (aka "pack rat"). Whoever invented the Disney pin collecting thing is evil. With a quick glance around the room, I can say my more prominent collections include cat/kitty figurines, Star Wars, and Disney stuff. DH and I have an impressive collection of books spread around the house on almost every shelf, but I'm not sure if that counts. DD collects Minnie Mouse dolls, My Little Ponies (can you believe they're back??), and Care Bears (ditto!). It's possible that I have encouraged these collections, but I will not admit to it. DH says that he collects camera lenses, a collection I try to limit. I say that he collects anything tech-y, and is not limited to camera lenses, much to my dismay.

There. Please tell me I'm caught up! I feel like I've been gone forever with the impressive list of questions! But, they're great questions!
Staci

Multiple suitcases are now deployed to the guest bedroom. Each of us looked at our 2007 packing lists, and reviewed the changes we wanted to make. Plotted out general outfits for :groom: at dinner (most say-khakis and a golf shirt, others- suit and tie). :bride: tried on tropical dresses. :bride: found a new dress and ordered it. Started to set aside clothes no longer needed up here: shorts, short socks. Cruise box is visited daily for some reason or another. Started trying to find recent Navigators :guilty: Read up on spa villas in Passporter and trip reports. Plot out on master calendar when/where things are (flights, excursions, DIS activities).

Game on!
