October 25, 2008 Halloween on the High Seas (2)

Ames Dizney1 sent me the following PM and gave permission to share it with the group:
"Hi! My name is Amy and I am 45 years old. My DH is John and is 46. Our children are DS Nathan 25, DS Jackson 9 and DD Carly 5. Our last name is Campbell with the exception of Nathan..his is Burch. We are from Newport News, Virginia. This is our second Disney cruise. The last one was on the Wonder in 2000. I have been to WDW over 15 times now. Our next trip to the world is January 09! We are staying in cabins 2622 and 2624. I love shopping and making creative stuff. I have been a Director of a preschool/childcare center for 23 years. My husband is the manager of a carpet store. My oldest son works for the local public school system. My little ones are in school. Anything else I should let you know? Thanks for all of your help!

OK, still on my way to 10 posts so I can PM.:surfweb:

DH (Gary -lets say not yet 40)pirate:owns a small business , Me (Michelle- 37):wave2: hospital pharmacist, DD (Elizabeth 10):cheer2: , DD (Kari-8)princess:

We live in North Carolina, but were raised in Virginia. We spend most of our fall watching football and cheering for the Virginia Tech Hokies.:cheer2:

We specifically booked the cruise while Tech had away games. Tech plays Florida State on the 25th, so DH is hoping it will be on the big outdoor screen as we embark.
thanks will add you both to the bio http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=26541984#post26541984

congratulations to everyone who got the Doc's
can you tell me if there is anything in them that I need to know as I'm getting mind sent to WDW
didn't want them to get lost

talked to my TA last night :sad2: He said to expect my docs the week before we leave!!!!! :headache: Gonna call Disney today! I want them NOW :rotfl: I'm so sad.:sad1:

I know there are a lot of docs to send out but how come they all seem to get sent at different times?:confused3
Is there a system Disney use or is it pure luck?
I'd have thought it much easier to send them all at around the same time...DCL must get so fed up with people calling to ask "Where are my docs?"!!
As ours arrived almost a week ago it all seems very strange to me...I thought we'd be the last to get ours here in UK!:cool2:
Still, i do wish my parents docs would arrive as Dad is driving me mad!!:rolleyes1

Our Virgin Flight Etickets did arrive yesterday so that was great to come home to!:cool1:

I was breezing through thread 1 and saw the T-shirt that Amy (I think) made. Is there a standard color everyone should use?

Okay - got the following PM from someone who wanted to remain nameless (didn't want to be a bother if no other newbies came forward), but I thought I'd share the message here to answer the questions....

Hi,
I just saw your post about us newbies who joined the cruise after the cut off dates. I am interested and will post my info but I don't want to be to much trouble if I am the only one who is joining up. I also have a few ?'s. I just ordered an FE from ebay if we can join the FE fun, however being new to the concept I'm not to sure what is expected. The info I've gathered would be:
Several cabins are assigned and we buy gifts for each family member every day of the cruise. When do we put the gifts in the FE? AM/PM
Also TOT - I can bring whatever is needed to participate or send $$ if necessary.
So sorry to bother you but wanted a few ?'s asked and you were brave enough to post the info for us.
Thanks,
XXXXXXX

Okay - first off - we put the invite out there to determine interest so we could figure out a way to fit the latecomers in if at all possible. The best way to do that is if you're willing to identify yourselves - so please don't feel you're being a bother! We just want everyone to be happy :lovestruc !.

Secondly - the FE Gifts are given once per cruise to each family on your list - unless you talk to Suzie :lmao: . (Sorry Suzie - couldn't resist!) But honestly, that is a common mistake made. Oh - and some are giving gifts per stateroom, others are giving gifts per person in the stateroom, or adults and kid gifts per cabin - whatever fits for you! Also, you can give them out whenever you want - any day of the week, any time of the day or night. Half the fun is not knowing when you're going to get a treat in your FE! If only a few newbies want to join, we might just slot you in to the existing groups. If we get several, we might just add a new group. Some people are planning to give to more than just their group - either to friends they've made that are in other groups, or because they planned something for everyone - so even if we end up with a smaller 4th group, you might get unexpected treats.

Third - we also talked about ways to add additional kids to the TOT. Again, we need to know numbers to see if we can figure out how. If we can work it out, it will probably mean the parents supplying the bags for their newbie kids - we just don't have any extra bags. To list your kids for the TOT, the requirement is to supply something for the treat bags - whether that be candy, pencils, whatever you want - just be mindful that we have NUT ALLERGIES in our groups, please. The other requirement is that at least one parent needs to volunteer in some form. This event will be more tangly to try and add the newbies, but we're willing to try - but again, no promises!

Bottom line - PLEASE express interest if you're hoping to join in - we can't come up with solutions unless we know what kind of numbers we are dealing with!

If anyone else who was in chat last night can think of anything I left out - please add - or correct me if I'm wrong!! My secretary minutes appear to be a bit fussy!

Valerie

Val - You did a great job catching everthing!!! I also just remembered something that may solve the TOT issue. But we still need to know numbers so that we can discuss in chat on saturday.

SO ALL NEWCOMERS - PLEASE BE SURE TO EXPRESS YOUR INTEREST IN FE, TOT OR BOTH BY FRIDAY!!!

Thanks for sharing your info! There are quite a few Healthcare Professionals (nurses, pharmacists, and I have been in pharmaceutical marketing for 8 years so I consider myself an honorary member! :cutie: ) on this cruise.

We go to Newport News every year to visit my sister in law. They live in a development behind the high school. Not sure if there are multiple high schools but it is next to an elementary school i think.

Regarding the game - I don't think they have ever put sporting events on the big screen, but they also have games on in Diversions lounge. So hopefully you will be able to catch the game there.

I truly doubt that Disney would run a football game on the bigscreen, but I gotta let the DH:happytv: have his "Disney Dreams" too:laughing: Can't you just see the deck covered in Dads, their eyes glued to the screen with cold beer in hand... Oh, wait, that would be my den most nights of the week:rotfl:

So, about the T-shirts...
Is there a charge to use the Halloween logo, or can I just print it at home onto one of those transfer thingies? Also is there a certain site from which to download that keeps the image sharp?:surfweb:

One more thing...(at least one)
I tried to access Halloween on the high seas.net this am. It asked for a password. It that site just for "chats" , or are other goodies there too?pirate:

I still haven't gotten around to making shirts - but everyone seems to be using the iron transfers. That's what Amy did and they came out really nice. I think Jackie (jns) has a better logo file that she can e-mail you. Just PM her with your e-mail address.

Halloween on the high seas is primarily chat. There is a timeline on the home page, but post 1 here is more detailed and has everything. Are you interested in chatting? If so, I 'll PM you the password.

Michelle

Ok. 10 post in what 2 days? I am official. I can PM. I feel empowered.LOL!:rotfl:

:thumbsup2 That is what we do around here... empower people... to plan their vacations!

Another note, Got my dress for the formal night- Thank God for SPANX!!!

Maybe it's just me - but I hate those things... I bought a pair (for something like $20) to wear under a pantsuit last Easter... they kept rolling down to my knees and trying to take my pants with them... Since my pants were a side zipper that I could not reach on my own, I had to go down to the church office (f course this stuff happens at work) and cut them off! :headache:

Welcome to October! aka: CRUISE MONTH!

Yes. Please do... I would love to get started putting my fe gifts together...

Speaking of FE gifts.... Has anyone heard from hockeychic or VACruisers? I don't know what to do since I am personalizing some of the gifts.... :confused3 :confused3 :confused3

Do you guys think it is fair to try to pm them one more time and if I don't get a response - just take them off the list.... I really really hate to do that.... :sad2: Maybe I just will not personalize those two... But wait... we dont even have cabin #'s for them ~ we cannot even deliver them! :scared:

Jenn, I've tried PM and emailing them but no answer. I'm in the same dilema about what to do about them. Not personalization but delivering to them....

Just sent them both a PM... hopefully we will hear something, anything, from them.

This is what it said:

Good Morning! :goodvibes

I am writing to you because you are a part of our Fish Extender Gift Exchange on our upcoming Double Dip Cruise.

Many of us in group 2 are worried that we have yet to hear from you.

Are you still cruising with us? And if so, are you still interested in being a part of the FE gift exchange. There is no problem if you are not, we would just like to know so that we can plan properly. :thumbsup2

If you are still cruising and still want to take part ~ please either PM me with your stateroom number or post it on the thread. :surfweb:

We hope that you are still cruising with us, we are all getting very excited about our trip being so close! :yay: :yay: :yay:

Looking forward to hearing from you real soon!
Jenn

Hoping this works.... :goodvibes

While at a store the other day, I saw a bunch of Halloween decorations.

And I thought……..

Is anyone thinking about decorating their Cabin Door and/or Cabin Room, specifically for Halloween Day/Night.

Maybe some things that are light and easy to pack, like Glow in the Dark spider webs, etc…

Oh Boy, am I ever!

I have magnets and halloween hangy thingies... all kinds of good stuff!

Oh! IMPORTANT! DO NOT FORGET!!!

Cannot use tape on the doors! I have magnets and some of that blue putty stuff that teachers use for posters... I hope they let that slide by....

that's a great idea - just need to add it to the list!:scared:

Great news, Lynn! You are now part of the Crazy Corridor Club!

We're in cabins 6130 and 6131 with lots around (you're right next door to StaciJo's inlaws - 6139, and Aunt Lynne and her group - 6134 and 6135!!). Lots of DISERS right there in that corridor! How fun this will be!!!

Not sure what magnet things you're looking for.....keep talking and maybe I can pick up on it. :goodvibes

I'm hopeless, Is it magnetic Paper maybe, to make a door magnet???
I can't believe its almost here, 24 more days.

Lynn

I posted, then read, I work way too much and throw in choir rehearsal, and I'm done for.
My doc's arrived yesterday. YEAH.
I'm a Florida Resident and well, last year I celebrated my 50th on the Wonder. Ok so I am now 51, well almost couple more days.
I love coffee, but I like it plain, I am most like Eyeore, slightly shy, tho after people get to know me they don't believe it. My friend Kristy is traveling with me. She was my first good friend I met after moving to Florida. She found a great job in Colorado and this is a chance to catch up, without judging 3 time zones.

See ya all real soon!!!
:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

I just hit the Dollar store for Halloween window clings and such. I think they will stick to those metal doors. If not, no big loss.
