October 25, 2008 Halloween on the High Seas (2)

Middle school is a big milestone! Glad to hear it went well.

Has anyone ordered gift baskets from the theperfectgift.com before? I was thinking about ordering the kids sandbuckets filled with sandtoys so we don't have to pack them. Last time we bought them at Key West at the Walgreens. I thought the buckets would be a nice little Hallween gift. Any thoughts?

Hey everyone,
Were waiting on one more passport. Nothing like waiting till the last minute huh. I was wonder if anyone was going to do a fishing excusion at any of the ports?
mj

BigBen! Good to see you around again!

Nope, no fishing excursions here (haven't since I was a little girl with my dad!) but hope you have fun if you book it! Take pictures!!!

Night all!

I ordered from 'the perfect gift' when we sail at Easter. Shirley (the owner) did a great job! :thumbsup2 I ordered a basket to be waiting in the room when we arrived. It was a great surprise for the kids! She put together a beach bucket filled with sand toys, candy, stuffed bunnies & small sodas. It was a great way to start our Easter Cruise!

I also ordered two baskets for this trip. :ssst: One for my DD's 15th birthday and one for the rest of the kids with a Halloween theme. It will be a great surprise!

Officially done for the night....2:27 am that is!

99% of my work is finished now I can concentrate on getting ourselves packed for our trip this Sunday! :scared1: Haven't done a thing yet and usually am almost all packed! I've been so busy with cruise planning, I forgot about this trip!!!

So, night all and see you in chat Thursday! :chat:

Amy, Rob and Missy, StaciJo, and Nicole, how are you guys doing down there?

Safe wishes to all in the path of Fay.

...we are just fine, thanx for asking Suzie. We were under tornado warning for a while there, one actually touched down about 10-15 miles from me in Barefoot Bay, 3 people injured and about 30 homes damaged. Lots of wind and rain but otherwise ok, no loss of power, unlike some. I will keep you updated if anything changes.
Amy

Amy-- So happy to hear you all are doing ok.

My 2 DD's Alexus-8 Gabrielle-5 would like to join the TOT if possible. I am willing to help where needed. Just wanted to check but is it ok if I bring a bunch of things other then candy to hand out? My DH was talkin about how much candy the kids are going to end up with and thought something else might be ok. Still not sure what but i'm sure i will figure something out.:rotfl:

Speaking of TOT....

Please register your children with Jackie (jns). We are ordering bags for the children and don't want to come up short! Last day to register is September 5.

Thanks,
Michelle

We're just getting a lot of rain, a little wind, maybe some small tornadoes. Nothing worse than a normal summer afternoon thunderstorm. One of the major parts of my job is to be the disaster recovery coordinator for the information technology department, and this is my first time through this type of event since I've been given these additional duties. We have folks all over the country, including all over Florida, so it's been an interesting few days. I think I've done more in the last 48 hours than I did in the previous month! At this point, I welcome the calm and quiet of "just" the storm passing over tonight! :rotfl: I figure worst case is really the possibility of a power outage, and that I can deal with (umm...well, for a short period of time...but I suppose that's why I have a generator!!).

I've been wanting the cruise to hurry up, but I think I'm glad it's not leaving today...our last Disney cruise had gale-force winds and 17-20' waves. Even the crew members were suffering motion sickness. I really would prefer to skip on that this time, even though I know the stuff I took last time worked for my motion sickness. At least now I know not to wait until I feel horrible to use it!

I hope everyone else on the board in Florida is doing well (and everywhere else, of course!). I hear a lot of people are without power, and that's not fun for long in the humid heat! Here's hoping we all get to keep our power, so we can keep posting on the board!

Staci

Amy and Staci good to hear you are all oK and everyone else

I will up date the T&T list tomorrow

This is the latest shot from the webcam in Port Canaveral, here's one from earlier today when it was still light...

And this was the day (April 29, 2006) that I cruised last - and evn then the seas were quite rough and people were sick all over the place - so I'm AWEFULLY glad we're not there today!!

Glad to hear everyone in Floriday is so far "weathering" the storm well! Please keep us posted!

Valerie

Disneycruising, thanks for your input on the baskets. I think I am also going to do a Halloween themed one. Thanks again.

Glad to hear everyone in Flordia is doing well. Stay safe.

We're fine over in the Tampa area. I was supposed to go work the evacuation this morning. showed up for 0700, told it was canceled at 0705, so ran off and out in a regular work day after all that. Sheesh!

Kids were out of school for it though! They were stoked!

Val, I remember the rough seas that cruise! I don't get motion sickness but being pregnant and those waves (later were told they were 30' swells!!) just hit me the wrong way. I was one of those hanging in the cabin for a bit.....ugh.

So glad to hear that things are not as bad as what they originally thought and that it seems that everyone is weathering this well. Again, please keep safe during all of this, though.

Think I got food poisoning today from lunch out. Ed met us on his way home from work and we went out for lunch. It was nice to sit and be waited on for a change! But I unfortunately usually get heartburn and indigestion from the bbq sauce there and tried to order something else. This place is one of Ed's favs and was right across the parking lot from Target -where else would I be!?!? Anyway, got home and a few hours later .....well, I'll spare y'all the icky details. Suffice it to say, we're all on the way to la-la land here...well the two wee ones are already there (yeah! more on that another time!!). Ed's been there in body only for the last hour while I caught up on some DVR Jon and Kate plus 8 reruns! Love that show!!!

Night all....!!!

Hey Suzie - hope you're feeling better soon! Not good to be  !

Was wondering how Ameera has been doing sleeping in her bed! Sounds like it's starting to improve :cool1: (I know, sssshhhh - don't want to jinx it!).

Valerie

Glad to hear that everyone is doing well and staying safe in the hurricane area.

I was working late again today, oh how I need a vacation! Suzie-I love Jon and Kate plus 8 I actually just recently started watching it so all the shows are new to me.

I was also thinking of ordering baskets for the kids, since I ordered the REAS package to surprise hubby thought I could surprise kids. Just not sure if I want to spend the money and then what to include in theirs as they are teens?

Well, I must get off to bed,
Talk to you all soon!

Hey Summer Gal!

I have ordered from theperfectgift for every cruise - my sister is a pepsi person - so i at least have shirley hook her up with a fridge pack of diet pepsi and then she normally fills it in with other things - shirts or whatever you might be interested in - this is probably a minor issue - but they normally come in a gift bag - not a basket - which i thinks works nice for packing to go home (although i hate the 'go home' part!)

Although I have never ordered from Shirley, I've always heard good things about her. She also is a very open person. I've seen some posts from her on here about the local area where she lives and even about the current situation with Fay. She gave out her phone numbers to anyone needing anything if they're in the area. WAAAAAAY beyond the call of duty or business. Seems like she a really nice person.

Val, feeling much better today. Lost a bit of weight but I don't recommend it as a weigh los program. Ameera did great last night. Ended up putting a gate in her doorway and she eventually crawled into bed herself and went night night. Slept the whole night through til just now. We had Tigger give her the Night Night talk about staying in her bed and not having bad dreams. She giggled through most of it and must say all I could think of was you and Bear's voice!!! Almost giggled a few times myself. But after reading a few books IN HER BED with her (gosh, didn't know I could fit!!!), it only took about 25-30 minutes.

Tara, love that show. I recently started watching it too so they're all new to me too! Marathon today on TLC. I think they live in Reading PA although they keep showing Central PA but DH says that not Central PA. They did have a show where they were looking at a house in VA on the way to the beach, but it's not around here. More out in the horse area of VA....Leesburg/Middleburg-ish area if I remember correctly...out where Disney wanted to put an American Adventure theme park but all the richy-riches decided to veto that one....I digress.....

Have a small amount of laundry and a big amount of cleaning to do today. Tori's excited that she gets to clean her bathroom (I swear she's not my kid!!!) and I'll probably let her do mine too. I've got to get her used to the vacuum cleaner though.....Ameera runs from it too!

Okay, the day has now started, everyone's up....the race is on!!!
