October 25, 2008 Halloween on the High Seas (2)

Impromptu Cincinnati Chili party tonight (glad I made a ton!!) so not sure when I'll be back but will get on chat later.....

So start the party and I'll be fashionably late!! :chat:

Seems like we are in everything (I have told DH everyone is doing these things Shhhh dont tell he'll find out that night not everyone does!;) )

1. Are you wearing HOTHS logo t-shirts
Yes and have them made already. It is really easy. takes about 30 minutes from printing to ironing for 4 shirts.
2. Are you dressing up for pirate night
Yes. 2 adults and 2 kids. It really is a casual dress up. pirate blouse and skirt and sash
3. Are you dressing up for Halloween
Yes 2 adults and 2 kids. I tried to pick something easy to pack. BUT I am saying that prior to any attempts to pack the suitcase!
4. Are you decorating your door
Yes Probably just average amount of magnets 5-6

Here is another question~~~

Ladies, Is you dress for formal night floor length or cocktail length?

Mine is floor length...that is if i find the time to get alterations.

I have a cocktail length dress which I plan on wearing. Unless I find a new one!

1. Are you wearing HOTHS logo t-shirts
Not sure yet, maybe if I can figure out the printing...
2. Are you dressing up for pirate night
no, I don't think so
3. Are you dressing up for Halloween
no
4. Are you decorating your door
Yes, trying to learn how to make all the beautiful magnets I see, no luck yet:confused3

Also, not sure what I am wearing for formal night, probably a long skirt or dress?

Tara

I have a cocktail length dress and a floor length divided skirt....so a little bit of everything!

FYI....CHANCE TO SAVE MONEY!!

Hey everyone, don't know if anyone noriced, but Disney just announced code for select nights at value resorts for Sept - Dec - $49 pp/per night. So if anyone is staying at WDW in a value before or after the cruise, check to see if you can get a new rate. We had to change from Movies to Sports, but saved over $200 on our pre-cruise stay :cool1: ! Thought I'd let you all know!

Now must finally go in to chat .....

Valerie

1. Are you wearing t-shirts with our logo on them?

I'll probably make them for the kids. My Dh and I really aren't t-shirt people. But, I love to torture my kids!

2. Are you dressing up for Pirate Night? Number of adults and/or kids?

Again, the kids will.

3. Are you dressing up for Halloween? Number of adults and/or kids?
My Dh and I will be party poopers on this one too. The kids will definitely be dressing up.

4. Are you decorating your door?
I'm sure we will.

With having the whole summer off, you would think that I would have door magnets, fish extenders and t-shirts all done and ready to go. But that's not quite the case. I'd better get busy!

By the way, how do you get into the chat? I'm not sure I have a lot of time to chat. But, I may drop in a time or two before the cruise. If you don't mind.

Hopefully floor length dresses for formal night and cocktail length for semi formal. In fact - we are going dress shopping this afternoon! Hopefully we will find something!

Next question - one for the chaps - whose DH is wearing dinner suit / tuxedo for formal night?

sorry i have been in hiding for awhile - i had a nice week long trip to cozumel and about a week of festivities at home - so - im not all caught up yet - i have handled all requests that were pm'd to me - if you had one in the thread and it is not updated - please pm me - you dont have to re-write it - just give my your post number

i had two tips (?) to share with you about cozumel -
one day we went and did the zip line - it was soooooo much fun! there were just two of us - and were the first ones there so we got to go out alone - two guides go with you and you get a training session before you start and then one guide goes before your party and one after to make sure all make it - at one point my sister stopped in the middle and the guide was out there instantly! it is very safe and you are harnessed in and connected to two wires (one is just a backup) and then you also have a saftey line ontop of those two - the place we went to was called "fly high" and depending on your party size it takes 45 - 75 minutes - very very fun!

another day we went to this place called "Mr Sanchos" - we went horseback riding on the beach (you also go through the jungle so if you do this tour i suggest you put on some bug spray first) and then we took out a wave runner - they also have banana boat rides, atv's & parasailing (it is $10 cheaper here then at Castaway Cay and you can tandom go which i dont think disney lets you)

have a great weekend!

Ed's wearing his tuxedo for both formal and semi-formal night. Acually on my list of to-do's today was get him to try it on to make sure it didn't need any alterations or missing any buttons (ugh, happened last cruise and took forever to find a button on the cruise!). Then sending out for dry cleaning to get all ready for the cruise!

I can't remember were we trying to do a photo op for formal night? Gosh, the memory isn't what it used to be.....:sad2:

Since we are talking formal night...For you previous cruisers did you see any military wearing their blues? (dress up military wear)

I am not sure if my DH should wear that or just a suit? He does not have a tux.

Also Sarah tried to pm you but your box is full! I wil try again tonight.

Tara I never seen anyone dressed up in Military wear
DH will be wearing his suit

2. Are you dressing up for Pirate Night? Number of adults and/or kids?

3. Are you dressing up for Halloween? Number of adults and/or kids?

Sorry I missed chat last night. Trying to do some alterations to my DD's school clothes. Love having another short person in the family.:lmao:

As far as formal night goes, DH is wearing his suit DD's cute little dresses, Me still no clue. Not sure if I have dropped enough weight to fit into my dress I have had. I'm down 15lbs at this point, but hope to loose another 10 by cruise time. I think thats wishfull thinking.:rotfl2:

that is where all the shopping is and you will easily be able to get a cab right there - they also have the horse and carriage ride that we did - i think that was about $60 and he took off us the main strip which is normally all you ever see

i always feel safe in their cabs - they all work for one company so when they are lined up you just go to the first in line and they "should" all quote you the same price

when you are shopping there - you pretty much never want to pay whatever price you see - throw out a different price and they will almost always come down!! they will all be trying to call you into their "special" store - but we just smile and tell them we are fine :)

- We are not wearing logo wear for the meet but will be wearing the lanyards
- We are all dressing up for pirate night- 2 adults and 2 kids
- My husband and I are not dressing up for Halloween but the kids will be
- We definitely will be decorating the door with magnets!

- I am wearing a floor length dress for formal night and a cocktail length dress for semi-formal if it fits in the suitcase. Otherwise it is the same floor length dress for both nights like I did last year!

I have a floor length for the formal night... Its from those Davids Bridal Make a Match Seperates collection. Its a floor length black skirt with a pink (bright) top and a black shawl (and probably flip flops or my crocs since the dress is sooo long) :0)

And for the semi formal night... Its cocktail length - I think most of you saw it when I posted the link before....

Now, about tuxes.... DH is thinking about renting one onboard... it is about the same price as renting one here at home and this way he would not have to pack it...

Jenn, went to Target for you today (well, okay, I was shopping for me, too!!) and this is all that I saw!

The store was cleaned out of them but this was the best I could find. They're not online that I could find either....sorry! I wish I could help more!!!

That reminds me of my very, very, very favorite item that we brought on our last cruise. I'm sure everyone else in the entire world is more organized than my family, but even in a perfectly tidy room, my husband could lose a door key (e.g., KTTW card). During the whole back-to-school thing at Target, they have these magnetic baskets for lockers, for the kids to put things in, and we got one for our door. It was fantastic for us. We put our tickets and whatnot in there, plus our KTTW cards when we entered the room, and we didn't once lose them. That's probably the first time ever for our family. I actually went and bought another one for the in-laws coming with us this time, and thought I would share in case anyone else has these types of problems (it can't be just us, can it??). I think they still have the back-to-school stuff still out, so it might be worth a quick peek. To be honest, I found a lot of our organization stuff there last year with all of the back-to-school stuff. All I want to know is - where was this stuff when I was in school? I was always surprised to find things at the bottom of my locker at the end of the year. :scared: If only there were a convenient way to store the important little stuff separately, my life might have been that much easier. Oh, well.

Anyway, just thought I'd share.

Thank you so much for trying... :worship:

I will probably just suck it up and get one on ebay.... ;)

We are just back from our dress buying expedition and I am pleased to say that we managed to buy a formal full length gown for each of the DDs - they are really lovely and the girls looked stunning when they tried them on. They fitted them really well and it was completely painless - in fact they both liked the first dress they tried on, which must be a miracle in our house! We got them from Monsoon!

Nothing for me though although I did try a couple of dresses on. I still prefer the one I already have at home.

Now it's just semi-formal to get - hopefully that will be as pain free as the formals!:goodvibes :goodvibes
